    This an error is result of your computer trying to play MapleStory. Normally, it is from incorrect Display drivers or an outdated version of DirectX. To determine the currently installed display drivers installed in your PC, right click on any empty space on your Windows Desktop, and select properties. Then click the Settings tab. Below the image of the Monitor, it will say Display: and the name of the currently installed driver. If this driver does not match the hardware you have installed, you will need to update the driver. Please contact your PC’s manufacturer or the video card’s manufacturer for information on installing an updated driver.

     

    If you do not have the latest version of Microsoft DirectX, you can also download it from our website - http://maplestory.nexon.net/WZ.ASPX?PART=/Downloads/GamePatcher

    I have the latest directX installed, and i never got this error before the .41 patch. 2 monitors are used, however i only play MS on the left one. On my other computer, it also works perfectly. Any chance i can get some help?

    Im having problems witht the patch in a very weird way. I am able to log on to the game after the patch and actually be able to walk around a bit but then.... after about a minute and a half  the screen blanks out and i end back into the desktop. Ive never had this problem before the patch and yes i was able to complete the patch. Im running windows 98 SE and have the latest drivers for everything and also i have directX 9 installed and i have no firewalls running. The game worked before and also past patches worked except this one. I gone to the point of reformatting my computer thinking that something in it is interfering in the OS. ive redownloaded the client so many times already and its still doing it. Just wondering whats going on.

    I have exactly the same problem-  worked great BEFORE the 041 patch, disconnects within seconds of the first game screen appearing AFTER the patch.   I used a stopwatch and timed it several times this weekend and found that approximately 50 seconds after the login screen appears, (the one where you enter your username, password and pin), I disconnect.  Screen freezes, goes black, drops back to Windows desktop with NO error messages.

    If I type real fast and choose world, channel and character really fast, I might be able to move around the map a bit, even kill a monster or two, but 50 seconds after the login screen appears-  bam.  Disconnect.

    I don't believe it's a problem with our computers- after all, the only thing that changed was the PATCH.  Thus drivers, monitor frequency, direct X, whatever-  should have NO bearing on the problem.  Something isn't right with the patch, and it's affecting only certain people.  I too am running 98SE, but others with XP have reported the same trouble.

    The only thing I can suggest (VERY STRONGLY), is to go to the SUPPORT section of this site (click the Support link at the top of this page) and log a ticket with Nexon Customer Service,  They need to know the severity of the problem and how many paying customers are being affected by it.  Describe the problem, your computer and the Windows version.

    Ive read your post, and it doesent seem to help. Ive found simialr posts that address my problem, but they are either unhelpfull or people just dont replay to them. 

    The Client installed properly and even patched. When i open the game gameguard loads and the "play" screen pops up. I click play and then it takes me to the wizet animation. The animation dissapers and is replaced by a blank white screeen, then it exits  the game and takes me back to windows and a blank box that is titled "MapleStory" appers.

     This is my 6th attempt at getting the game to work, sent in a support ticket on my 4th try, and never got a reply back.

    Attemps 1-4: on instalation the area with the legal aggrement where you accept or not accept was blank.

    Attenos 5-6: Installed fine but wont load past the wizet screen and brings me back to windows, also happens with attemps 1-4

     Using Windows XP,  DuoCore 2.66 Ghz, 1 GB ram, RADEON X300 SE graphics card (if thats any help...)

    *edit* Also, even though i cant actually play the game, it also dissables my USB Dell Mulimedia keyboard. I have to uninstall the keyboard driver and reinstall it for it to work again, i was wondering if there is a way around this?

    this is the exact same problem with mine. i click my character and it appears and while my character is dropping it freezes then exits out with no error. I am  thinking about quitting maplestory altogether if nexon does not fix this. This NEVER happened before the new patch. I think if we get enough ppl to tell nexon what the problem is they might actually do something.

    i believe that more than half of everyone playing with the MapleGlobal client is suffering a similar problem even if some manage to get by and finally play normally. When i submitted my ticket in the support link, i was in the 40,000s and i strongly believe that most of those support tickets refer back to the recent patch.

    I got one for you, for some reason i can't change my main char it just sits there like a idiot on the main site. I keep trying to change it on both fire fox

    and Internet explorer but it won't let me. I had recently deleted my sin and it was set as my main char unforuntely i thought i would be able to change it back to my main, Angelrein and it gives me this weird message.

    i have been experiencing weird problem. before , like last year, i play maple story it works fine. but now, most of the time i tried to play, after the game guard connected, it says error 114. i read the faq and this forum. i tried to close every program there is that is open. inc. msn, etc. and i tried to open MS again.. it stills give me the error. then i tried to restart the computer, ive tried like more than 10 times. it still gives me that error. i don't know what to do about it anymore. i dont even have my firewall on. i have NO clue whats going on. help please.. im using windows xp home.

     

    ps. sometimes it goes thru but gives a black screen and then just exited its own and give "connection has ended" and like 2 times, i got thru and played. i don't want to quit MS because i bought NXcash recently.. and i still have like 32k NXC.. and i dont want to waste it.

    I did what you told us sbout Vista but it didnt work for me... the nexon page appears but after that i d/c with no error box but nothing written inside it, login screen doesnt even show up

    I have the exact same problem as Angelrein. I simply can't change my main character image, nor can i apply a new character which I just created with an image at all. Both lead to the database error.

     At first I thought it was a certain computer that caused it, but i'v tried changing my character on multiple computers. On two at home and three at my dad's work, and on every single one of them I get that same error.

    Is there a resolution for it ?

    I opened a ticket and they simply pointed me to this forum, obviously being unable to find what the problem is.

    Anyone ?

    hi -Hime- its me again i dont no what u mean by operating system but however i downloaded the ne patch and it was working fine untill i logged in again and the same thing happens again it just closes the game down!!!!!!!! its so annoying !!!!!!! however when i was playing most times it comes up with "mode.bib exe has encounterd and error and needs to close sorry for the inconvinence" could this be why its not loading ive tried plenny of times to load the game and same thing happens everytime! nobody knows anything on this! plz help ur the only help ive got!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ...I have never ever heard of such a file, nor can I find it on Google. Maybe a virus or something..? O.o I'd do a search on your PC [Start>search>for files/folders ] and type in that filename, see if it comes up with anything. if it does, find out if it's something you need or not.

    i got that problem too with the thing when i click on my char my screen gets black, i see it for 1 sec then ms crashes to my desktop with out any errors i got it since last server check F4
     (AND MY 2X EXP CARDS ARE COUNTING DOWN -_-;;) and i got windows xp pro with sp2

     i dno what it is =(((

    If you are having patching issues make sure your computer account is set to administrator. A limited user account cannot write or modify information such as allowing MapleStory to finish patching.


     

    i have this prob and when i run the patch and when i select the folder it says find the propper ms folder even though i have clicked on it already HELLP
