As unfortunate as it may be there are people out there who if given the opportunity to will steal your account and undo the hard work you’ve put into it.
Your account is your responsibility and here are some tips to help in protecting your account.
1. Choosing your Password
Your password should include letters and numbers. The more random your password is the harder it is for somebody to guess it. Keep in mind that it needs to be hard enough to prevent hackers and easy enough for you to remember.
2. Choosing your Pin (MapleStory-related only)
Again, your pin should be a series of numbers people will not be able to guess but easy enough for you to remember. Do not use 1337, 0000, or 1234 as your pin. By using those common combinations you have lessened the security to your account.
3. Do not share your account
This is a serious matter and largely responsible for players losing their accounts. Do not share you account with anybody and we emphasis anybody. A good friend will not ask you for your account information or to see how <insert your character class and/or level> is like.
4. Do not share your personal information
All it can really take is for you to give out one piece of information for a hacker to find all your information and your account. Make sure your Secret Question answer is something only you would know. There are hackers who will pretend to be you to get more information from us and our validation process for your account makes use of the secret questions.
5. Do not fall for player scams
There are in-game scams out there to trick you out of your account, your items, or your money. Do not trust anybody who asks for your account information. Their #1 goal is take your account for a run. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

6. Be aware of websites that imitate the official Nexon websites
Official Nexon websites have nexon.net ending in the URL unless stated otherwise. Scams sites will “promise” you something in exchange for your account information. Nexon and Nexon Representatives will never ask you for your account information (id, password, and/or pin).
If you should encounter these sites, please submit a ticket and a CS/GM Agent will take the appropriate action.
Please keep in mind that real information is required when you registered for a Nexon Passport ID. Our customer support will not give out any account information for any reason. Please keep your information safe.
If your account was “hacked” there are steps you can take to restore your account as long as you know your account information. Unfortunately, we will not be able to return the items, money, and time lost to you.
1. Change your Password
To reset your password automatically on the website you need to know your last name, birthday, secret question and answer. Once you’ve verified your information on the website it will direct you in changing your password.
If you do not know your Secret Question 2 and answer but you know the registered email on the account, use the find password function on website for a temporary password. You can retrieve your temporary password in an email sent to the email registered to the account. After you receive your temporary password, submit a ticket for a CS/GM Agent to assist you in a password change as long as you can verify your account information.
2. Change your Pin (MapleStory-related only)
To reset your pin, please log into your MapleStory account on the website - http://maplestory.nexon.net. Proceed to Account Info and verify your information. After verifying your information you will find a button for a pin reset. When you complete the pin reset, an email will be sent to the registered email on the account. Please be sure that you remember the email address you registered your account with. A verification link will be sent to your registered email. By clicking on the verification link or copying it onto your web browser, your pin is wiped from your account. When you log onto MapleStory, it will ask you to select a new pin.
