You can try either
If you want to keep your McAfee on and play Maple:
1. go into McAfee Security Center
2. go to computer and files
3. click the configuration button
4. find the section that says that your antivirus is enabled
5. make sure it's on
6. click the Advanced button under the antivirus section
7. uncheck the check-box next to "scan for unknown viruses
OR
I have the fix for Hackshield Initializition Error: 0x00000101(257)
(Posting in every thread of this kind sorry if you see it everywhere but it works for everyone yet)
Go into mcafee security center and go to
Advanced Options > Configure > Computer And Files.
Click OFF on virus protection, and press advanced. Untick the four boxes at the top and press apply.
Now Maple should work.
