It's really noble that people want to even sacrifice their accounts just to test the glitch, but that should be Nexon's job. They could just create a random level 70 character and go kill there for a while using a normal account. They would eventually get banned themselves and figure out something is going wrong.

     I agree, it shouldn't have be a player wronged by the company taking matters into their own hands to get Nexon to see that something is amiss. But for me at least, doing SOMETHING is better than taking this lying down. Even if nothing panned out in the end I would feel better knowing that I tried my best to change things.

    Re: Typhon Auto Glitch Ban

    This is totally not fair. Yes, Nexon can do whatever they want since this game is "free" and they have copywrited all that stuff etc. But still, they are taking away the fun from us, banning us where it is NOT needed. Typhons a GREAT MAP, and yes I'm a level 77 BW noob training there getting .15% per kill but its amazing exp!!! I've been training there ever since I was level 73. Now when its 2xp, I get banned???? Like come on!!! Gms of Maplestory Look at this Forum, unban us people who don't deserve it please.

    Add me also: TheIvyKnife, 86 Chief Bandit from bera. I got banned on Nov 1st at 3:36 PST

    All I was doing was using Band of Thieves on the Typhons and it banned me

    and honestly Nexon should just fix the glitches instead of putting a paragraph in the ToS about

    abusing them because it's completely their fault that it's there to abuse in the first place nevermind

    banning people that they THINK used the glitches.

    BTW just another thought, I got banned a little after I leveled do you think that has anything to do with it?

    I was banned similarly after I leveled but I don't think it's that way for everyone. Some people have said they were there for less than 10 minutes while I managed to train there for a total of almost 4 hours over 2 days before the banhammer got me.

    I personally think it is EXP related. For some reason it seems that map caused EXP to be awarded in chuncks (or at least that is my theory). When the game "sees" these large amounts of EXP being awarded it automatically assumes you are using a 3rd party program or other means to obtain it. I struggle to confirm this theory for many reasons but one of the simpler ones that has me stumped is how i was seeing EXP awarded like I would on any other map.

    Side note: Everyone before this that asked has been added to my list.

    So far the exp chunking theory seems to have the most weight. (although some did get banned just for walking in)

    For instance I didn't last very long in the room because I'm a lvl 111 DK with max roar hitting 15 mobs for 5-8k a piece with a priest healing so I could spam it. Even though this was considerably slower that himes where I usually train(like 1/3 the exp rate), my boyfriend enjoys roar training on weird monsters that fly around. I would get chunk of exp from 10 dead typhons at once each with around 3k exp(yay max holy symbol).

    In any case, someone mentioned wanting to post what has happened to us at the typhon map on Nexon pages. Good idea, be sure to warn people and even go so far as to ask Nexon to warn people about the glitch. It gives YOU more credibility. I think it's called "ethos", but the credibility of our struggle and our desire not to see our fellow legit maplers not get banned will be heard(by someone, but probably not Nexon).

    If any of you are in Broa, feel free to add me if you have another account lying around. Maybe we'll have a happy unbanning party in December.

    Eldenser:

    This may sound like a selfish question at first but I ask it truly hoping to help all of us.

    Does anyone have a character that they would be willing to test these theories on while the entire thing is video recorded? If we can get ahold of video evidence that nothing peculiar is happening from program startup to time of ban it SHOULD be enough evidence to prove all of our innocence. The only other character I had that was able to go to Path of Peril was my 86 DK and it was on the same account as my Ranger. My next highest available character is a Lvl 52 Fighter and I could probably get to the map easily enough but it would be pointless to go since I can't him the Typhons.

    I will ask around on my BL and guild to see if anyone is willing to bite the bullet for all of our causes but until I can get something done we'll just continue to wait.

    OK, I'm gonna throw my other DK into the fire. I need a link to download the screen recorder. Please and thank you.

    wish me luck.

    Re: Typhon Auto Glitch Ban

    Actually, this doesn't make sense. Remember the Pink Been(is it Bean?) ban in Windia? Several people recorded that, and i'm sure most of them logged tickets, and at least probably posted a link to a you tube video of it. Sadly I don't think a video would be proper evidence for acquittal. Sorry to be a buzz-kill.

    On a lighter note, anyone have a link to a recorder anyway? I'm considering making an Ellin Forest Party Quest guide.

    Re: Typhon Auto Glitch Ban

    Please add me to the list of wrongfully blocked players:

    glassmom2 / yellonde / will be unblocked on Nov 27 @ 9:35pm.

    I was playing my lvl 99 sniper and was training in party with lvl 12x magician and I was using primarily arrow rain, but also golden eagle and puppet from time to time to see what they did to the typhons. I was on 4x (nx card and 2x family buff); running Norton Internet Security antivirus/firewall program.

    I am so upset about this, as everyone else is... I was not doing anything wrong! I had trained there in the past during 2x and found it is, or I guess I should say WAS, a great place to level!

    I logged a ticket and haven't gotten any response from nexon.

    I guess there is some consolation in seeing that it is a glitch and that there are others that were wrongly banned, but it is very upsetting that nexon is ignoring us!!

    Re: Typhon Auto Glitch Ban

    well, since we have had 2 autoban related glitches so far (Magatia Party Quest and Typhons), I am starting to think that something is up with the autoban. I have not been high enough leveled to go to either of these places, so I have yet to experience this. But, seeing as this has happened twice in a row, methinks it's more a technical aspect with the issue of the autoban. Knowing a small degree about how computers work, I can probably sum it up into this:

    Apparently the autoban works in a way that it'll activate if certain conditions are met. Conditions can be represented by strings of zero's and ones.

    An example would be (estimating):

    Legitly gaining EXP: 11110000

    Gaining EXP through EXP hacks: 10101010

    Gaining EXP through botting: 11100010

    Something happened that caused the values for "legit" to be swapped with either the hacking or botting value. If Nexon can isolate that value, then the problem can be solved. When that will happen, IDK. Hopefully soon.

     This is pure gold. This is the exact thing I was trying to talk about. Granted, I'm not sure that this is the true reason why but as we've been discussing for 11 pages now it seems to be our most solid theory.

     As for posting on MapleStory's other sites, I got half of my post written in class today (boring lecture). I had planned to use it as a way to warn others but it is good to see that others are concerned about the integrity of the game as well.

    If you want the link to the video recording site you can try searching google for Fraps, or just click on the following link Smile. Hope it helps.

    Re: Typhon Auto Glitch Ban

    Actually, this little code you're showing here is Binary. Maplestory's action/server scripts are coded in C++. It would look something like this:

    #include <iostream>using namespace std;int main(int argc, char* argv[]){   cout << "Content-type: command/parameter" << endl << endl << endl;   cout << "<html><head><title>Hello!</title></head><body>" << endl        << "You have been banned for "*"" << endl        << "<h1>Example</h1>" << endl        << "</body>";  return 0

    }

    This is only a random example.

     In any case, I have been working on my own ticket to send to Nexon. I sent it the day I got banned (Last Thursday) and have been adding details as I've gotten them. I find it to be completely ignorant of Nexon to just blatantly ignore such a dangerous glitch, and even outrageous that they would not even acknowledge our problem. I even made a post on Basil about this, how Nexon fails to communicate with its players. If they made even one notice that said they knew about the problem, it would ease the minds of a lot of players dedicated to this game.

     And another thing. that little clause in the ToS saying that they can ban you for no reason is probably what they use when such glitches like this occur. But I feel that when you put money into a game, even a free-to-play game, they should at least give you some kind of explanation as to why you're being banned, and some compensation. What Nexon is doing can possibly qualify as a scam: Basically if you put so-and-so amount of money into the game, then they find some kind of reason (or no reason at all, in this case) to ban you, even permanently, then give you no kind of compensation for your money, that would qualify as a scam. Now I'm probably gonna find myself perma-banned for this, probably under something along the lines of "Harrassment or spreading false rumors" or some RedFlag, but for anyone who puts a lot of money into this game then finds themselves unfairly blocked form their account with no compensation, they probably feel the same way I do.

    It sounds like you've been doing the same thing I've been doing. I have posted at least one comment every day updating whichever lucky GM gets to open my ticket and most likely auto-respond with a "Nope still banned". I hold out hope that SOMEONE has notified a superior of the situation.

     I also agree with your assessment about the entire situation. A notice on the main MapleStory page warning all players that there may be a POTENTIAL glitch at Path of Peril would do wonders for their credibility in my mind. Even if there truly ends up being no glitch at least they can say the had the best interest of players in mind.

    Regarding the "scam" issue. I understand where you are coming from. But that is one of the risks you take when you agreed to the ToS. There are plenty of clauses in there that state playing MapleStory is a privilege not a right. If that is true, making sure the plays get the proper research into special cases such as this should be a job not a responsibility. I'm upset that I lost a month on some of my cash shop items. On the other hand, I could no longer have two characters that have been in the Maple world for over 4 years. We just have to remember that it could be worse.

     On the bright side, if this issue keeps growing at the rate it is Nexon won't be able to ignore it for much longer. One person perhaps can't change anything but many multiples of one persons can Stick out tongue.

    I havent been banned by this glitch, but i would just like to say it probably would not be a good idea to use fraps or a screen recorder. Nexon could brush it off and say third party programs (Fraps etc.) are bannable. but those are just my thoughts. maybe use a camcorder, cell phone camera.

    Actually there is nothing in the ToS about using third party programs at the same time as playing the game. The two bullet points that deal most closely with this stipulation are as follows:

  • Exploit errors in design, features which are not documented and/or bugs to gain access that would otherwise not be available or to obtain any competitive advantage;
  • Modify the Software, Cash Items or the Service to change "game play," including, without limitation, creating cheats and/or hacks or using third-party software to access files in the Software or Service;
  •

    As you can see, it only mentions the use of third-party programs for illegally accessing their services or software. You can't tell me that Nexon has the desire to hunt down all the creators of the THOUSANDS of videos on youtube just to ban them for using a recording program. Or how about all of those players that have an internet browser window open while they play Maple to accesss sites like Hidden-street or Basilmarket?

     Nexon is more worried about punishing those players that ruin the gaming experience for others.

    If anything, by creating a video of their game, you're marketing for them without them having to pay you.
