    Clerics..

Well, I've had a good talk with my friend who was a F/P and he said that Clerics aren't good. I was planning to be one. I/L people say it gets boring eventually. And for F/P ehh don't really care. So are clerics that boring?
Please tell me as much as you can about these classes.
Btw I started this game like 2 weeks ago.

    Re: Clerics..

clerics aren't all power at second job

they are more like a party type (PQs)...clerics are most accepted in PQs, excepted for CPQ where everything is POWER!!!

for clerics...people advise not to max out holy arrow...as when you get third job, shining ray at level 1 is better than holy arrow maxed out...after maxing all the other needed skills...i think you would be left with 11 skill points to put on either holy arrow or slow(useless skill)

but when clerics kick third job (they get more on the offensive)

when you get to 4th job, GENESIS!!! (the ultimate skill...i don't know what this is but everyone like says this is the best skill...i think its also used for leeching)

it all depends if you can actually level up the character to a certain level or get to a certain job...

of course it wouldn't be fun to be a cleric for 3 years before you hit third job...it all depends on the amount of time you can play, whether you have the heart/will to train it, and whether you can reach the job that starts becoming fun

uhm...the I/L wizard is mainly for mobbing (starting at second job, with lightning bolt)...I/L aren't really that offensive, but that ice attack can do a decent amount of damage (lol...i haven't played in so long that I forgot what the skill is called even though i played a I/L character for like 2 years and never reached level 50...and its my highest leveled character!!! =P...so cleric wouldn't be an ideal job for me since i level so slow)

uhm...the F/P wizard is mainly to go 1vs1 and does extremely high damage with fire arrow, the posion attack isn't really useful at low level

F/P wizards are accepted alot in CPQ due to the high damage they do(ppl just assume you maxed out fire arrow when you're level 30)

i tried to explain the best i can...i'm a mage guy, but I don't play maplestory anymore (due to reasons...maybe i would play sparingly)

hope this helps you a bit

    Re: Clerics..

    Clerics don't have slow ;)

I've never made an F/P, and my I/L is stuck at 51, but Clerics I know fairly well. I've managed to get one to level 120.

Early second job you'll have no attacking ability at all, you really should be Party Questing and nothing else. Once you hit level 55 or so, if you maxed Heal and MP Eater, you can train effectively on your own at Mysterious Path 3 in Singapore, and deal a nice load of damage. A really nice load of damage. Alternatively, you can continue Party Questing and relying on the strength of others. All depends on your play style.

Once you hit level 78 or so, you stop solo training, and start following warriors around, they'll kill everything for you, and only ask in return that you Heal them, and make sure your ability called Holy Symbol stays active, it increases the amount of EXP you both gain per kill. You continue following people around in different areas throughout 3rd job, and do not ever train solo.

Once you hit level 120 and get 4th job, as Darrick said, you get Genesis. Obtaining the skill takes a couple days of planning, but it is much worth it. You then become the best mob killing class in the game, and can solo train as much as you want. The skill hits the entire screen, and does (at level 2) a minimum of 15,000 damage to each monster it hits (max 15 monsters). Yes, it's good. And Darrick was also right about leeching. Because you have genesis, people will want to party you and take a portion of the EXP. This is called leeching, and you can make them pay for you letting them in the party. The minimum I've ever seen leech sold for is 4,000,000meso an hour. It can cost double that and more later on. So not only are you powerful, but rich.

Some people are against leeching...but others argue that leeching is what helps fund the bishop's potions and provide the money for them to buy the skill book: genesis

if clerics don't have slow...then what is the other skill they have? or do they have a choice to max out another skill or max out holy arrow?

oh!!! i think the two skills you can choose to max is teleport and holy arrow (teleport is more important than holy arrow...in my opinion)

i wish to be a priest, but unfortunately...getting to level 30 would be considered a miracle for me!!!

    But is it fun?

    Re: Clerics..

Depends on what you like doing. I like being the "Damage" character in boss runs, so it's not so much my style. You'll always be supporting others, making sure they stay alive and healthy. In late-game training, you'll be able to be on your own, but you'll do better in parties still.

Clerics max everything but Holy Arrow, some people don't bother getting those 11 points in it and even just go back to 1st job skills. It's kind of sad how bad that move is.

Gene30 is expensive for a reason, but I see your point. I'm not for or against it, I mean, I have a hermit, I can use all the meso I could get my hands on, and still need more. So my opinion is a tad bias, even if I haven't mustered up the energy to actually leech people much yet.

If you like party quests, you shouldn't get bored too fast or anything.

it all depends on the person

i could say i love clerics...but when you try it out, you would feel that it is boring because you don't like just standing on the sidelines and healing everyone

if you love to help people not die and love PQs...then clerics would probably be fun

    Re: Clerics..

    Yeah true.

But like I don't wanna heal people only..

It wouldn't be bad with a nice offensive skill..

    Did you enjoy Cleric?

    Re: Clerics..

Your better off with a F/P or I/P. Clerics have weak damage until there 3rd or 4th job advancement. If you are getting to confused with all these comments, you should make a Thief.

    Re: Clerics..

Because somebody who's confused over class information really has a couple billion meso to spare for a thief. xD

Thieves are good, but expensive, very very expensive.

2nd job damage is half-decent if you do it right, clerics have no third job damage, and fourth job damage blows most clean away.
