    Volunteer Forum Moderators Launched!

Members of the Nexon forum community, may we have your attention please,

After the long awaited process we would like to announce your fellow Volunteer Forum Moderators. These individuals have demonstrated knowledge, patience, understanding and other amicable traits on the forums.

We hope the start of VFM Program will open additional opportunities to improve communication and strengthen the quality of the community. As members of the forum community, you can help too. Your participation is important, and without it we cannot foster a relationship with the community. We still encourage you to use the Report abuse function should you come across something or someone violating the Forum Rules of Conduct.

Each forum (MapleStory, Mabinogi, and Combat Arms) will have 3 VFMs each.  The VFMs are:

    MapleStory – MadamePrimm, bobbort, xgrantwallx

    Mabinogi – morbious17, Chillian, Atarvidiot

Combat Arms – kjrokanoshi, TRStrider, Knight0011

For those who have missed the previous announcement about VFMs, here are some basic questions answered.

    What are Volunteer Forum Moderators?

Volunteer Forum Moderators (VFMs) are members of the Nexon community who choose to invest their time in helping to improve the forums by setting an example, reporting forum issues to the Moderators, and locking threads that they feel should no longer be available.

What Special Abilities would a VFM have?

A VFM is able to lock threads at any time, given that she or he feel those threads are inappropriate.

VFMs will be able to access a forum where they are able to present player/game issues and discuss program-related topics.

What can a VFM -NOT- do?

Ban:  We will not be giving this ability to members of the community, as we feel members should not make decisions about another member’s account.  Anyone that feels a fellow forum member is in need of disciplinary action should the “Report Abuse” function.

Get free passes to abuse their privileges:  If you feel a VFM is misusing their role, please Report this immediately. We will investigate this and determine what action needs to be taken.

How long will this program last?

In approximately 3 months (and at any given time), we will be evaluating this program, its effectiveness, and the individuals currently on our roster as VFMs. During that evaluation, we will determine what changes, if any, will be made to the program. This may include both changing the current VFMs and the period of time for which they serve, but we will not commit to specific details until that time.

The VFMs will help guide the forum community. They are not official forum moderators like Hime and Tibaroo but we expect everybody to treat the VFMs with the same amount of respect you have for others. Intentionally harassing VFMs due to their status may result in disciplinary actions taken.  Remember, VFMs are not immune to the Forum Rules of Conduct. As stated above, if you feel a VFM is abusing their privileges, please use the Report abuse function and we will look into the matter.

With that said please congratulate these individual who have committed to help make the community a positive place for all!
Read this thread would you kindly?

You will be banned and then there would be ham.

Post it. Ban it. Lock it.

Thanks to everyone for the recognition, and hopefully during our reign as forum rulers (joking!) we will be of some service to these forums.

Only time will tell, and once again, thank you for the opportunity.

    Re: Volunteer Forum Moderators Launched!

Gratz Primm and Bob, and the other guy who I haven't met yet. Hope all goes well. I would have liked to help but honestly since school has been in full swing for me for my Net+ class and work, I don't have time. I noticed someone mentioned something that I believe was pointed at me in the other topic related to this one.

Hate me all you want. You know I'm still right.

    Re: Volunteer Forum Moderators Launched!

it seems there may be emergency situations that appear at time a gm will not be online such as a recent user posing as a gm to luring people to a phishing account.  simply locking a thread isn't enough.

how about giving the volunteer gms the ability to hide a message and even a user for 72 hours, and all reports go straight to the gm to unhide if they so decide and give a free bump.  This still would not be censoring nor banning legitimate people via volunteer, only defering.  Ultimetaley it would be a real gm who would ban or censor, or decide the volunteer was in error.

    Re: Volunteer Forum Moderators Launched!

If a ban is too powerful, why not try a temporary 12 hour ban? That would prevent those fake GMs from continually arising over the weekend.
