With the new Community Spotlight addition on the forum we planned it to
be an interactive section where we address certain key topics and questions;
but in all honesty, we want to be more in touch with our community about who we
are and what we do here.
We came across an interesting question: What aspects do you, the people who work at Nexon, find fun about the
game, MapleStory? And with a little discussion about that interesting
question, we decided to open that thought up to all Nexon games and dedicate
this Community Spotlight piece to what is
our favorite aspect of Nexon Games.
Here are some of our answers.
What is Customer
Support’s favorite aspect of Nexon Games?
Libra: The community
itself. It is a variety of cultures and age groups.
Shinore: The players, who
never fail to provide us with a never-ending supply of entertainment
enjoyment.
Pharaoh: My favorite
aspect of Nexon games is that they’re free. So I can play them anywhere anytime
for nothing and so can my friends. :D
Lallent: Our games are
pretty unique. The free play aspect is cool, because if I don’t play the game
for a little while I’m not being charged still or obligated to play since I
paid for the month. I can come and go as I please without money being
exchanged.
Tibaroo: I really enjoy
the wide variety of entertaining people that I meet and to whom I get to talk.
I love how many of our games have a wide variety of activities, and that one
discovery always leads to another.
Crash: I really like the
fact that the games are always kept fresh with new content and quirky
additions.
Nebel: The fact that the
games are free is a big deal. Games like Combat Arms, Mabinogi and
MapleStory are a good change from other online games.
Tiara: I love how the
age range of our players is so broad. I love that our games really appeal
across a multitude of age groups.
Strummer: Honestly I think
the best thing about our games is that it’s FREE!!!!! I think it’s great that
you can play a game, have fun with your friends, make friends, and you don’t
have to spend a dime if you don’t want to. I like the fact that I have the
choice of how much I spend, when I spend it, or if I spend anything at all is a
great way to get more people into online gaming.
Talia: I like that you
can play them on your computer. Not everyone has consoles but many, many
people have computers nowadays and with the library and internet cafes they are
easier to access too!
Xakimbo: Nexon publishes AAA
quality games for the price of nothing.
Oh and we can’t
forget me, Hime! I personally love the free-to-play concept on our games. I can
play the games at my convenience and I don’t have to be on long to make the
most of it.
As
our MapleStory Team handles… MapleStory, I thought it was a good idea to make
the question more specific for them. What is the MapleStory Team’s favorite
aspect of MapleStory?
NXDrago: I would say my
favorite aspect of Maplestory is the social aspect. Being able to
socialize and make “friends” with other players while working towards your own
in-game personal goals/levels, etc.
NXPEPE: My favorite aspect of MapleStory is all the
content we put in game and that it’s free to play. Not only do we update
content twice or three times a year, but every month. I’m not sure what free
game does that. It keeps users entertained and excited to see what we
update every month. Even if they quit, they still seem to check the forums and
website to see what is being updated (at least that’s what I would do). I also
love the community feature. Being able to talk to friends, meet new friends,
have relationships begin, getting married, and players thinking that rankings
is the most important thing, is very interesting. Being on rankings is like a
popularity contest. MapleStory is like Myspace, and Facebook, but better. J
Our Mabinogi Team, who
are still recovering from the large content update – Pioneers of Iria, had a
few words to add about Mabinogi.
Boogeyman: I would like to
say that I really enjoy the community of Mabinogi. In many ways all games are
limited to the functions they have in the game however it’s what the users do
with these tools that can really make the game grow, exponentially. Since
Mabinogi has so many functions and content users can use to interact with the
Mabinogi community. I’m always excited when I see new and creative ways people
interact with the game. I also enjoy seeing all the personalities that have
popped-up. It seems like many of our users are different kinds of animals,
fruits, and inanimate objects. Again pointing back to the fact that the
community is full of fun creativity.
And we can’t forget
The Combat Arms Command. They are quite busy updating and improving the game
but took the time to give a little feedback.
Averix: What I like most about
Combat Arms is that I don’t have to set aside a couple of hours to play it or
endure long loading times. I can just jump in, kill a bunch of people, and jump
out and still have a ton of fun. I must admit that sometimes those “quick”
sessions turn out to be a few hours… [grin]
Cretaceous: Combat Arms’
biggest draw for me is the fast paced game play. I just do not have the
patience or will to sit around for surviving players to complete the round,
camping strategic sniping spots, or planning an elaborate means of attack. I
take a gun, run to where the action is, and take out all that I can. I’ve been
playing FPS games for the better half of my life and I find myself always
coming back to games that lean more towards Arcade than Simulation.
And dang! GM Mingus
decided to write us an essay! We didn’t bribe him (besides the fact he works
for us), we swear! These words are from him. J
Mingus: My favorite aspect of Combat
Arms is the character stats and the subtle affect it has on the social
nature of the game. What sets this game apart from other “fast-paced
military” action FPS games is everyone, no matter what team they are on, are
fighting for the same thing, and that’s the GLORY of being number one and the
increased XP and GP that comes with it, the actual reward for being
better than the competition. You have an identity with stats that
everyone can see whenever they want. This is something that after the
game, everyone can comment on – like being or killing one of the top five
players.
In other games, there seems to be less
emphasis on survival and even an individual player’s skill – there is no way to
see someone’s “stats”. During a game, you play, you kill…but in Combat
Arms, there is an actual repercussion as to how strategic you are on the
battlefield with the pacing and fighting flow you want dependent on that – you
can be a speedy rooftop-jumping killing machine or be sneaky and lay traps
around tunnel entrances in the same life.
Besides the obvious multiplayer nature of the
game, the character stats makes it all feel like a shared experience: that
Ultra-Kill streak was cool to watch and even on the receiving end you can
relate to it because you know how satisfying it is to get that kind of boost to
your ego and to your Kill-Death Ratio – you may congratulate that player at the
end of the round who just ranked up and can get a new weapon (or bigger
backpack). And as a killer, you are not just blocking someone from
capturing, you are seriously messing up someone’s KDR– to them you’re
notorious, and they will make your death their new goal.
Besides the support team and game planning teams, other Nexon
representatives enjoy Nexon games as well. Our Marketing Team wanted to partake
in the fun. Read what they have to say!
NxDevilicious: My favorite
aspect of Nexon games is how they are always growing and changing. Just when
you think you know a game and it can’t get any better there’s an update pushing
the games in directions you would never have thought of.
NxCajun: I love the l33t
speak. But, I’d say the ability to play a high quality game without paying for
it.
Our games are pretty sweet and even better than some pay games. Plus,
the content is updated monthly so the experience grows.
There you have it,
folks! The people of Nexon have spoken about their favorite aspect of Nexon
games. It seemed everybody was in agreement about the frequent content updates
that constantly changes the game experience is one of our best features. So the
question now turns to you… What is your
favorite aspect of Nexon games?
