    FIXES FOR MULTIPLE PROBLEMS

AVG DETECTING MAPLESTORY AS A VIRUS FOR V.79:

the problem is now resolved, just update AVG and it should stop detecting maplestory as a virus: http://forum.nexon.net/MapleStory/forums/thread/3683153.aspx

TROUBLES WITH THE MAPLESTORY DOWNLOADER (PMB):
download via the "old fashioned way" if you have problem downloading MSSetup using the downloader (PMB / Pando Media Booster)

    1. Uninstall your current version of Maplestory if applicable (Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs for Windows XP or Control Panel > Uninstall a Program for Windows Vista)
    2. Delete your Maplestory folder (if it exist)
    3. Remove anything relating to MapleStory
    4.
Click Here to download MapleStory(V.79) the “old fashioned way”
     or
Click Here to download MapleStory(V.79) using the downloader

Remember to click Save and not Run (for the old fashioned way), so you don't have to redownload the setup all over again if something happens

    5. Run MSSetupv79 to install the game

EDIT: for the latest links to download MSSetup, please look at my signature

EDIT 2: I'll just update the hyperlinks from now on

Error Code: 00000002, Error Code: 00000204, Error Code: e401000c or Error Code: 00000203:

Step 1: Delete the HShield folder located inside your MapleStory folder

Step 2: Download the following HShield folder from the following link: http://maplestory.nexon.net/download/hackshield/HShield.zip

Step 3: Unzip all the files into a folder called HShield, exactly the way I spelled it, with the “h” and “s” capitalized , and only have the files in ONE folder, not two...it must be ONE or else it will give you error 515
(in the correct file path, it would be C:/Nexon/MapleStory/HShield <---and the files will be in that folder...don't make the mistake of doing the following C:/Nexon/MapleStory/HShield/HShield <---with all the files in the second HShield folder)

Step 4: Put the new HShield folder inside the MapleStory folder

Step 5: You should now be able to play MapleStory, Happy Mapling Smile

    DOWNLOAD TO MAPLESTORY FOLDER:
this should help solve the problem for the people experiencing the problem of not being able to install maplestory because you either do not have enough space on your C:\ drive for the temporary folders or you experience the data1.cab problem when installing or some other issue that causes you to not be able to install (for example…stuck on extracting maplestory.msi or stuck on patching base.wz)

downloading the folder should be able to allow you to play

WE ARE UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE LOGIN SERVER DUE TO A SERVER CHECK, A FIREWALL BLOCK, OR OTHER NETWORK ISSUE:

first thing is to check on the main website: http://maplestory.nexon.net/WZ.ASPX?PART=/Main for server checks

but if the server check is not the case, then it could be a problem with your ISP blocking maplestory's play ports

    ERROR 1706:

    1) Delete the MapleStory.exe shortcut you use on your desktop or quick launch

    2)Open your MapleStory folder

3)Right-click on MapleStory.exe inside your MapleStory folder

    4)Click Create Shortcut

5)Drag the shortcut to your desktop and delete the shortcut in the MapleStory folder

6)Now you can use the new shortcut on your desktop

CONSTANT DISCONNECT OR WSA STARTUP OR ERROR CODE:10093
the following solution is for the WSA Startup / Error Code: 10093 but is not a 100% solution for the sudden d/c with no error code and a few other d/c problems  might be able to be fixed with the following solution

    1) click Start

    2) click Run (for Vista users, run COMMAND PROMPT AS ADMINISTRATOR(just look for command prompt and right-click it and click run as administrator)

    3) For XP users, type cmd in the run box

    4) type in netsh winsock reset

    5) If it worked succesfully, it will tell you to restart your computer

    6) If it requires elevation go to Users and uncheck the account control thing(I dont know where this account control thing for XP is...this is for Vista)

    7) Now try the netsh winsock reset thing again...and see if it works

If it does work...please let me know...xD

    Hope it works

    TYPING PROBLEM:

    LordOfPersia:

As many of you know, since HackShield replaced GameGuard, there are many Maplers experiencing keyboard problems. These problems include : not being able to type anything in the chat box, when pressing Enter the game goes into windowed mode, and when you press Esc MapleStory closes.

There is a faster way to fix this problem rather than having to Restart your computer every time this happens. Next time this happens to you, give this a try : hold down both ALT keys for 10 seconds. This will fix the problem.

    Happy Mapling!  Smile

    INPUT NOT SUPPORTED:

Go to your MapleStory folder and double-click setup.exe and then click No on the pop-up

it will show up the same screen at different frequencies and tells you to click Alt + H if it works

You might see the picture, but if you see a box showing something about frequency not correct or something similar, you just let it continue to the next frequency, and when you see the picture they show up without the input not supported box there, you can now click Alt + H or wait until the popup shows up asking if it is the correct frequency and you click yes.

It should show that the computer has been set to XX Mhz frequency...XX meaning a number

When it says restart MapleStory, it means re-open MapleStory

*IMPORTANT* HAVE MAPLESTORY CLOSED WHEN YOU ARE DOING THIS OR IT MIGHT NOT WORK

Hope this helps you ...Happy MaplingBig Smile

    ERROR 1315:

You should use the Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the old MapleStory installer.

After doing so please re-run MSSetup.exe to install MapleStory.

You run it and follow the instructions to delete the old MapleStory that you find

(For Vista, you can find it when you click start, then type in windows install clean up and it should show it)

(For XP, I think you can find it by clicking Start and click All Programs and search for it from there

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS FOR HACKSHIELD UPDATE ERROR: 0x30000030(805306416):

1st possible solution: first of all, try playing maplestory on the administrater account of the computer to see if this update error goes away

2nd possible solution: the second solution would be to keep on trying, it might take alot of tries before maplestory starts working again

3rd possible solution: Aviran has stated that this solution fixes this problem:

    4th possible solution:

    TIMMOTEO:

I was getting this error message on my windows XP machine running Panda AntiVirus and none of the posted fixes worked. Here is what I did to remedy the problem.

    1. Navigate to "System Restore"  by clicking: "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", "System Restore"

    2. Select "Restore Computer to an Earlier Time"

    3. Choose to restore your computer to a date prior to September 16th ( I chose Sept 14th )

    4. Let the restore process complete. ( It will reboot your system and then give you a message that the restore was successful upon completion)

    5. Once your system has successfully restored and you have closed the "successfully restored" message box, Navigate to system "Services" by clicking: "Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", and then "Services"

    6. (This is where you will have to use investigative skills) Look through the entire list of services. What you are looking for are services associated with your particular antivirus.

    7. Once you have located the services associated with your antivirus, right-click on the service, and select "stop"  Make sure to "Stop" every service that is associated with your antivirus.

    8. After, ALL of the antivirus services are stopped, navigate to the Maplestory Folder and launch  "Maplestory"

    9. The hackshield patch should now successfully run and you should now be able to play Maplestory!  Woot!

I would suggest logging into the game then, logging out and rebooting your computer. This will turn the antivirus services back on and your system will be protected once again. Otherwise, if you do not reboot, you will not be protected from viruses. I hope this is helpful for some of you.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO ERROR CODE: -2147467259(UNSPECIFIED ERROR):

1st possible solution: the problem could lie with your graphics card...as of now, this post clarifies the best on whether the problem is caused by a graphics card or not

if the graphics card driver is the problem, you will have to update your graphics card

    Lorxnop:

    Easiest way to check:

    1. Open your start menu, hit run (You should also be able to use the search box in Vista/Win7)
    2. Type dxdiag and hit enter
    3. Open the Display tab of the menu that opens
    4. Are some of the fields blank, or not displaying any information that's actually information (For instance: Unknown)? Congratulations on finding your problem, you need a graphics driver.

Drivers are unique for each model series of graphics cards, so you'll need to find the right one. There's some tools out there that help, I don't know links to any off the top of my head though. Good luck

2nd possible solution: If the graphics card isn't your problem...there is a possibility that a registry problem is causing this error code

use the following program to fix your registry error(s)

    darrick:

    Here is what you do:

    1) Download TuneUp-Utilities (This is only a 30-day trial unless you buy the registration key)

    2) After installing, open up TuneUp-Utilities 2009

    3) At the bottom, you should see 1-click maintenance

    4) It should help you fix any problems including registry problems

    Hope it works for you

Some people say that this error is caused by the ATI Radeon graphics card

there could be other reasons why this error is caused, but so far...only two have been narrowed down (graphics card problem and registry problem)

    -Hime-:

Error code: -2005532292 (Unknown error code 0x8876017C)/Error code: 2005530585 (Unknown error code 0x88760827)

This an error is result of your computer trying to play MapleStory. Normally, it is from incorrect Display drivers or an outdated version of DirectX. To determine the currently installed display drivers installed in your PC, right click on any empty space on your Windows Desktop, and select properties. Then click the Settings tab. Below the image of the Monitor, it will say Display: and the name of the currently installed driver. If this driver does not match the hardware you have installed, you will need to update the driver. Please contact your PC’s manufacturer or the video card’s manufacturer for information on installing an updated driver.

If you do not have the latest version of Microsoft DirectX, you can also download it from our website - http://maplestory.nexon.net/WZ.ASPX?PART=/Downloads/GamePatches

Restart your computer after any changes.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS FOR THE ERROR CODE:1335 / DATA1.CAB ERROR:

    1st possible solution:

    FettiFpeet:
I recently had this issue and fixed it. Some of the fixes you find on google work but most are for XP machines. Most of the fixes and the error itself implies its a software issue or issue with your registry. Furthermore alot of the "fixes" provided are just band aids on a broken leg. Meaning it doesnt really fix the problem just works it way around it, allowing the problem to happen again with other programs. From what I googled on the topic, its a ram issue. Have u recently upgraded your ram? If you upgraded your ram recently try taking out the New ram sticks and putting back the ones that came originally with the machine. I did this and it fixed the problem completely. If you havent upgraded your ram recently, the RAM you have may be corrupted. Memtest86 can test this for you but the disc cos 9.95 plus shipping. I'm a cheapo so I skipped buying the disc. Generic RAM is not made to the best of standards thats what makes it so cheap! Before you ram upgrade google what brands are best for what you intend to do with your machine. IMO my solution is the best solution I tried a number of the fixes and none of them worked, This one did wit no risk to my machine. Good luck dude If you are ever in demethos and need guild whisper FettiFpeet. I wish you all the best

2nd possible solution: unfortunately, the following solution for the error 1335 is only available to Windows XP Users (or so it seems)

    Suneke:

Windows installer 4.5 will fix your 1335 error. No need to buy new ram. =D

    Amoara:

Alright so this is what Suneke told me to do:

He sent me to the Microsoft website to download the Windows Installer 4.5 on this page here -

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en#filelist

Then he had me download the last option on the download list the  WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe .

When it installs it asks for you to restart your computer.

Upon coming back suneke told me to go into my drive C:\Program Files\Common Files and delete the installshield folder. ( i missed this step at first and i got the error again but then i went back and did what was asked of me )

Then i downloaded a fresh MSSetupv79.exe off the maple website.

From There i had no problems and the game is currently running smooth =)

Hope this guide help fix many problems for others....Happy MaplingBig SmileBig SmileBig Smile

what about, hackshield initialization error (4)?

    Hackshield: Initialization Error (4)

Error occurs when the game client is execution in CompatibilityMode is judged as a user wth ill intentions, so progrom

must be ended and restarted (Value = 0x004)

This is what it saids, but theres no way for some of us to play without changing the compatibility, cus when we log in, we get disconnected in matter of seconds.

This is what we do "right click> compatibility > and change to windows NT 4.0 (service pack 5)"

(the error code is not exact...its similar)

    darrick:
    FateLost:

I've had this problem quite a few times yesterday and this morning and it seems that no matter what I do it does not seem to work! I have tried many ways such as reinstalling MapleStory, deleting MapleStory installer then redownloading it, reformatting computer, and I even tried disabling my firewall. None of these seem to work, if any of you can help me I'll appreciate it.

Thank you for trying to help me if you EVEN tried.

I think I found out how to fix this error code -200XXXXXX after searching the answer for so long and recently I find more and more people are haveing problems with a similar error code

I tried it and it works wonder

    1) Download TuneUp-Utilities (This is only a 30-day trial unless you buy the registration key)

Happy Mapling...please tell me if it worked for you because I want to know if this is a 100% solution to fixing the error code:-200XXXXXXX problems

I'm not sure about this since some people disagreed...but it could be something wrong with your registry and you can try using the Tune-Up Utilities to fix your registry and see if it worked INSTEAD OF JUST CLICKING 1 CLICK MAINTENANCE

Some people say that it is a problem with the ATI Radeon graphics card or something like that

    HACKSHIELD: ERROR 66817:

    MSZShadow:

    I found the solution!

Nexon says to close Anti-Virus software that could interfere with HackShield. While doing that may have worked for GameGuard, it doesn't seem to work with HackShield, is it is a MUCH stronger hacking protection program (Thank you Nexon! No more hackers! [For a while, anyway.] :D).

Basically, this is what you do:

    1. Check your computer for a security program that deals with processes directly (As attaching to the MapleStory process is how a large number of hacking programs work, HackShield considers these security programs as hacking threats.). One example of such program is ProcessGuard (this is what I had).

    2. Don't disable it, don't close it, UNINSTALL IT. Seriously, neither disabling nor closing will work in this case. You have to uninstall the security program. (It'd be nice if Nexon somehow added these kinds of programs to an allow list on HackShield, but we can't have everything.)

    3. Run MapleStory, it should work like normal now.

I was so frustrated when I realized how simple this was...and that I had spent a whole day doing things like uninstalling/reinstalling MapleStory.

Credits go to kennyx3 for the solution! Thank you so much kenny!

    Re: FIXES FOR MULTIPLE PROBLEMS

Well, I gues it wouldn't hurt to post my problem, and see what happens.

I'll just copy and paste from my thread, cause I'm lazy.

Anyhoo, the problem is, when I click ony my maplestory icon, I get this message:

I've tried re-installing multiple times, and no luck.

Also, I have been using the shortcut from the maplestory folder, not the one it originally gives me on the desktop.

Someone posted this before, saying I should try it.

If your still having trouble with the dll file try this.

    1. On the Taskbar, select Start > Run.
    2. In the Open field, type regsvr32 "<path>\NameOfFile.extension", where <path> is the directory where the file is located on your computer and NameOfFile.extension is the name of the file. For example:

      regsvr32 "C:\Nexon\MapleStory\ijl15.dll"

    3. Press Enter.
    4. You should get a confirmation that the dll file was registered.  I hope that helps you.

Well, I tried that, and when I did, I got this message:

    So ... that's my problem.

Is there anyone in the Maplestory world I wish to join that can help me?

    Other things I've tried:

    Restarting my computer

Downloading a ijl15.dll and manually placing it in the maplestory folder

Moving a ijl15.dll from another game (Trickster Online) into the Maplestory folder

Trying to run it in Windows xp compatibility mode.

Did you ever play any private servers???

When I googled it, all issues with the cannot find igl15.dll concern playing private servers

Most of the time, playing private servers causes problems in the folder when the data from that private server is transfered on your computer

When you uninstalled MapleStory, did you make sure to delete anything related to it???

You could try using the ERROR 1315 fix after uininstalling MapleStory and make sure MapleStory is not on the list after opening Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility...that might help

    sorry if this didn't help

    I'm in! finally!

I copied the maplestory folder in my nexon folder, pasted it there, then opened it from there.
