Oh, you can only ride wild horses and ostriches when they are standing still, not when they are running around.The reason why giants can ride pet horses and ostriches is that any pets summoned by giant characters get enlarged, while wild horses and ostriches do not. I don't recall neither buffalos having no furs nor pigs that can walk across water. But I know a hippo that can swim across the river.They have fixed moving routes, and you can ride them by pressing R or right click and select ride option. You can't control them.

Giants can ride horses and ostriches. You can't ride gnus. They are for herb collection.
