    Mabinogi Technical Issues F.A.Q - Updated 04.18.08

    Here is a frequently asked technical questions guide regarding Mabinogi. We hope this clarifies and provides the information you need.

     

     

    Q: I want to play Mabinogi but I live in <insert country not in North America>?

     

    A: Nexon America’s Mabinogi is only available for North America due to licensing reasons. We must protect our licensee’s interest along with any future licenses thus we’ve blocked other countries and regions. We do not have information on if there will or will not be future licenses of Mabinogi.

     

     

    Q: I’ve installed Mabinogi but when I try to log in I receive the error “Not a service area (30022).”

     

    A: This version of Mabinogi is for North America only. If you are not from North America, you will not be able to play Nexon America’s Mabinogi. Bypassing the IP block is illegal and will only result in the loss of your account.

     

     

    Q: I deleted my character but my freed character card does not appear.

     

    A: If you have more than 1 character card on your account and you delete your character, that card will not be restored. A freed character card only applies to the last character card on your account (or the only character card if you only have 1 character card on your account.) After you have deleted your character after the 24 hour grace period please log off and log back onto Mabinogi. Your empty character card should then appear.

     

     

    Q: While installing Mabinogi the client “Fail to extract file: C:/Nexon/Mabinogi/npkcmsvc.exe.”

     

    A: We suspect that you may have a previous version of Mabinogi installed and it is conflicting with the one you are currently trying to install. We suggest that you remove the previous client before reinstalling.

     

    Also please be sure you have sufficient user privileges (Administrator access) on your computer. If you have a limited user account, your computer will not let you modify files on your computer let alone installing/patching Mabinogi.

     

    This error may also occur if the GameGuard is still running in the background. Please go to your Task Manager Processes tab and end the “npkcmsvc.exe” task. Once the task is removed from your processes, go ahead and reinstall Mabinogi.

     

     

    Q: I can’t start Mabinogi! “GameGuard failed to initialize…”

     

    A: We suspect that GameGuard is still running in the background thus it cannot initialize. Please go to your Task Manager Processes tab and end the “npkcmsvc.exe” task. Once the task is removed from your processes, go ahead and reload Mabinogi.

     

     

    Q: Why is my anti-virus detecting Mabinogi and GameGuard as malware/virus?

     

    A: When a program is unknown to the anti-virus it will potentially deem it as a security risk. Our official game clients and GameGuard do not contain viruses. We do suggest that you scan your entire computer as a safety measure to protect yourself from other security risks.
