So, spook got ta thinkin' about how many people are really frusterated wit de owl event and how many peple have gotten terrible prizes (Spook for example got three female swimsuits... Spook is male...) and de various complaints generated by de 'rewards' nexon has given out over de past week or so. Dis kind of complainin has bin goin' on fer more den a week tho, as evryone ahs been frusturated with plenty of de events dat have gone down in leeway of randomized prizes dat jist dont quite make sense. Den Spook got an idea, someting spook used ta do all de time in otha game communities... Is time ta run anotha player hosted event, for evryone dat wants ta participate.
What Spook would like ta do;
1) Fishing Contest. First person to catch the biggest fish in a certian amount of time gets a rare armor type and a few dye ampules. Runner ups may get fixed dyes/metal dyes or gold.
2) With all the excess fish, have each fisher team up with a cook. Get the teams to work together and see how many 5 star foods the cooks can make in a set amount of time. This way none of the fish go to waste, and the cooks get prizes too.
3) Not everyone will want to hang around for food and fishing, so why not have a Bard-Off too? It'd be easy enough to make a sign up sheet and get people to take turns presenting their favorite songs. The best voted song writers/presenters could also get prizes similar to the cooks and fishers (Though we'd probably need more than just one rare item as there are way more bards than there used to be). If Orchestra teams are interested, Spook will have to figure out a reward for multiple players standing for one team.
What Spook Needs;
Intrest and feedback. Spook isnt going to worry about donations or money until there's actual interst in the idea of a player run event. All the same, Spook will be trying to collect some rare items for prize awards (because honestly, spook likes his moon armor and isnt interested in vanity items really). Maybe you have some idea for an event you'd like to put on too, eh? Why not have a Tarlach Fair every now and then and make it happen once every couple of months. Im sure someone could even arrange a PvP event (this is not within Spook's knowledge though, if intrest was shown, someone else would have to organize it) if people decided food and music wasnt enough. Maybe we could have a 'dealers' segment where people could hauk their goods to the influx of players, or even a street where people could hang out and promote their guilds for recruits.
Who knows what will happen... What do you say, Tarlach. Bring some life to our server as a whole!
*raises hand*
I like that idea! Forming a huge group of people and just goofing off. :D A mini PvP competition would be neat, too. I would never enter, of course
Yes...I see it now...a mass of people gather together and form an anti-owl cult and do fun activities... I see myself there, weaving in and out of the crowd, stealing cookies from unsuspecting cookie-eaters... I see my brother, throwing rocks at random people...
...
I'M IN O_O for the cookies
GiantLueys:what about people that dont do lifeskills?
Considering nearly every town has a dungeon attached to or relitivly close by, it wouldnt be that difficult to run a "Fastest dungeon team" or "fastest solo runner" contest either. Normal Difficulty would be reltivly easy to run and if the event were to rn in say, Emain, it'd be pretty easy to seperate people on difficulty based on collective levels. Say people under 150 levels would run through Rundal and people over would run Coill. (I know how mcuh epople hate Coill, but for competitions sakes, it could be fun.)
Good idea, specially if you actually pull it off. A group of my friends did that once, some other people are doing it now~
The only question is how long it'll last :D
(i know its cynical, hey kick em when their low >:l)
anyways good luck :O

P.S. Try to stall the pvp part of the party as soon as possible, but not too long: Too long it'll get boring, Too short the party ends there.
Bard-off would be a good part of the party:l Cook-offs would be nice somone would need to run back and forth to buy materials though. Maybe a gambling corner? (I know it'll raise uproar, but hey publicity helps >> just ask...-cough-) Anyways the biggest part are the people you invite, make sure they're people who have loads of friends. (fresher people makes parties last)
Oh and before I forget;
I am not opposed to a gambling corner as long as its done FAIRLY. If someone wants to run a gambling corner, I want to be in touch with them personally to make sure they're trustworthy and capible of running a good deal instead of someone running in out of the blue, taking everyone's money and running off. Ideally I'd like to run a Tarlach Fair abotu every three months and if people feel cheated out of their money at the gambling corner, they're going to spread that negitivity elsewhere.
Draw up some rules and make them public so if we DO get a cheater, everyone else can call him on it. If it does become an issue of whos holding the money during the dice roll or what have you, I'll go there myself and hold the bets (though I'd rather it not come to this since I'll probabyl be runnign all voer the fair to make sure things are going smoothly)
Wow, I love this idea.
Honestly, I don't have very good life skills, other than herbalism and potion making, So, the fastest dungeon team sounds like a great idea.
Also, maybe during times where the festival were to be held near a beach, There could be a metallurgy competition, where the winner is who can find the largest gem of each type (Those that can be found in the weather condition at the time, of course).
Again, I'd really like to see this happens, and I would be a regular attendee :D

I havnt actually gotten around to experincing metallurgy yet, but I do like the idea of having the Fair travel around. At the moment I've just been using Emain Machina as a model for its size and space alotments, but I have been pondering using the other continent as well. Once I've tried metalurgy I'll probably get some good ideas for rules and competition times. It'd actually be pretty cool to have events theamed around where they're being held rather than have the same events all the time (Though the PvP events will probably be a constant since they arent restricted by land type).
Maybe some day we'll hold the fair underground and see if we can get 50+ people to swarm Ifrit ;p
Entry fee for the cooks, so they can get there own matierals, split the gold evenly!
Poissibly 100g per entry, food is quite cheap in dunbarton.
And dont forget about Pet Duels and witch channel will it be held in?
lol you can say it...it's me
note me ideas for good prizes and keep in mind i'm not rich, just dedicated (So i can get rare things from ballooning and dungeoning...but not necessarily "luck" prizes aka raccon cub or becky or things like that >_>)
i have already donated my black shining star earrings >> (only "luck" prize i have)
Torhu
To reiterate...I need good ideas!
