Thanks to all who takes there time to read this in advance :P
I just started Mabinogi yesterday, and so far it isn't like anything I've played before. I've played many P2P MMO's and a few F2P one's, and I guess I got used to the norm when it comes to starting up. I'm kind of lost on what to do in Mabinogi, so I have a few questions.
1) I am currently level 7. I just finished the first 3 days of combat classes, and I have enough money for magic classes. Should I take that?
2) I got a lot of skills, but I'm missing like all the crafting ones beisdes weaving. Anyone care to share what crafting skills they are and where to get them?
3) Is this game gear dependent? Almost all the gear they have in shops gives little or no upgrades. Where am I supposed to get better gear at?
Again, thanks to anyone who can answer these questions for me. <3

Should I take that?Well I would honestly save your money for other things. The classes can get you the magic books for cheaper and it all depends on which style of combat suits you more. It might be more prudent to save up for better armor and weapons 2) I got a lot of skills, but I'm missing like all the crafting ones beisdes weaving. Anyone care to share what crafting skills they are and where to get them?If you are into herblore. Do 10 Part time jobs for Dilys and ask her about skills. Equip a Potion Concotion Kit(1000gold) to learn potion making. You can learn Blacksmithing and Refining if you keep going South to Bangor. If you buy a handicraft book from the guy at the Inn you can learn Handicrafting. You can also learn music playing by equipping a flute or instrument. There is just so many life skills you can get. This link will be invaluable to you I assure you: http://wiki.mabinogiworld.com/index.php?title=Category:Life 3) Is this game gear dependent? You can upgrade your equipment though, but, it takes time and professency on the weapon to get upgradesBookmark this link! http://wiki.mabinogiworld.com/index.php and read it thoroughly. That site contains most of the information you will need to know about mabi.

AlysenMinase:Thanks for the info :P I didn't know they had such a good wiki for Mabinogi, it's good to see it has a dedicated community. I'll read up on stuff before I get back in game.
Just watch out for scammers like Bangkok, since you are in Mari and all x_x

On that note, be aware of anybody who tries to sell you anything, or offer to buy stuff off of you. If you don't know the player's market price for something, ask about it, even if it's something innocuous like a Dagger you found from a monster, because who knows, that Dagger might actually have higher durability than the ones that can be purchased from NPCs and thus be worth more.

1. That depends. You can choose like...classes...I guess they'd be called? Or you could be a hybrid? Do you like melee stuff or magic better?
2. By crafting you mean life skills right? :O You can get Refine from Elen in Bangor. You learn Tailoring by equipping a Tailoring Kit that you can get from Nora. Actually...

Use that website. XD I'm too lazy to explain everything but that site helps a lot. :3
Get used to basic melee combat first-- the magic classes WILL come in handy, though, since it's a really good idea for any melee user to have at least icebolt for stun value.
Also, to build on what King said about the harbs, it's easiest if you've got ~5 hours to kill and people to chat with, so you can get herbalism in one sitting, guaranteed.

Its been a while since I've seen a thread that had this much straight forwardedness to it.

Should I take that?Even if you don't plan on being a mage, you should at the very least take the first two and learn to use the two bolts well, if not the third as well. When you're first starting, you'll pretty much need the fire-counter technique, as it can let you take down monsters that are quite strong without taking a hit. Icebolt can be good in certain situations as well, even for a non-magic character. Be careful to balance your AP expenditure though- you may want to save some for better skills later. And I advise against ranking Sharp Mind. 2) I got a lot of skills, but I'm missing like all the crafting ones beisdes weaving. Anyone care to share what crafting skills they are and where to get them?Sadly I can't remember how to get most of them, but this site should help: http://www.wiki.mabinogiworld.com/index.php?title=Category:LifeIt also has relevant information on absolutely every skill, monster, dungeon and quest in the game. It's a really handy site for new players and long-time players alike. 3) Is this game gear dependent? Almost all the gear they have in shops gives little or no upgrades. Where am I supposed to get better gear at?No, the game is highly based in your skill as a player, even moreso than your skill ranks. Gear can be great for maxing your damage and getting the best chance at auto defending, but a lvl20 with horrible gear but a good knowledge of how to play can do just as well as a lv200 with the best equipment. The best equipment, however, is invariably made, either by tailoring or smithing, or dropped by field bosses. Also, what the best gear is for you is based on your playing style and your stats. For an archer the best weapon might be an upgraded broadsword, which might be totally useless to a melee or magic fighter. It all depends. Again, thanks to anyone who can answer these questions for me. <3

Engrave this in your brain if you like running dungeons.
