    Unable to disable Nagle in Windows 7

    Well this is disappointing. I've tried google and tried changing the permissions to allow editing of my registery all to no avail. It can add keys to just about everything but this one here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip.

    I'm trying to figure out for the life of me. Why I can't add any keys in Tcpip in Windows 7 so I can disable Nagle and be able to load and use heal that much faster and not lag as much. If anyone can give me any clue as to why this is happening and why I can't add a simple key to the Tcpip folder of my registry would be greatly apprediated.

    I Google (Canada) and found this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQPY-wh9PbU&fmt=22
    Does it help in anyway? After what they did to Vista I haven't even tried to download Windows 7 and play around with it so I'm likely of little help. Maybe this will help as well:

    You're doing it wrong.

    You first have to make sure you're logged in as an account with administrative access.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}

    TcpAckFrequency =1 (DWORD)

     I'm on windows 7 and it works for me.

    Cannot create value: Error Writing to the registry. I am the only user on my computer and it's administrator. Windows won't even let me go into some folders w/o wresting control over it. I can't add a key anywhere in that folder. I keep getting that error whenever I try.

    Only the 2nd part helps. I still can't add a key at all to my tcpip folder. Like I said If I go to add a key to the folder above tcpip it allows me to do it. Same with the folder under it. It won't let me do anything with the tcpip folder and the folders beneath it Sad

    Right click on the adaptor's "folder" click permissions. Make sure you see a "Full Control" box ticked under Administators. It should not give you any greif about it. Failing that  add "full control" to your user. You may need to run the registry editor as administrator to do so.

    On my pc it doesn't give me any permission issues, but I'm the only user on my computer. So there is something configured differently on your PC that is not stock.

     You can also uninstall the network adapter and reinstall it and that should recreate the key with the default permissions.

    No luck. Tried Both. Does the account I have to be on be called Administrator? The only account I have is an administrator's account by the name of my rl name. Will that make any difference?

    Re: Unable to disable Nagle in Windows 7

    well I guess if all this won't help. It's best to continue playing w/o worrying about bloody nagle. I'm not going to use my restore disk to go back to the factory settings of Windows Vista and then go through the trouble of reinstalling windows 7 and all my programs again >.>

    Um, you've obviously not tried it. Hit ctrl-alt-del at the login screen (you may need to do it twice) and you'll get a generic username/password login box. Type in Administrator here.  The password should be the password you setup when you first installed the operating system.

    You should generally not log in as "the Administrator" except to perform maintenance.

    Anyway I tried on Win7, Tried on Vista, disable nagle works for me without permission issues, so something was changed on your computer for that to happen. (Both OS's of mine are OEM x64 versions.)
