May I please receive some advice when it comes to using shields, because I plain suck when I use them. I know I don't have to use shields but it would be nice to know that I can put up a competent fight with them if for some strange circumstance I find myself using one.

What do you mean by this?

What I mean is, I can't put up a decent fight when I use shields so I'm asking for some advice as to how to use them. What skills am I supposed to open a fight with when a shield is equipped? Stuff like that.

The only times you'd need shields are when you need to tank something, like Black Ship Rats, which the automatic defense boost helps with. You mostly have to stick to N+1 with one weapon or some variation of that, and then chain it with windmill or defense. Shields are so limiting x.x

I see the Mabimedics have made a comeback.

I don't find shields useful, I equip Hetero Kite shield is just 'cause I think it looks cool. I've seen a lot of people with shields

but I see no point in using them.

Just dual wield or use 2h swords. :o

Ok sheilds are not that useless, if u took the time to prof one to 15 u can upgrade it so it gives u +4 def and if u upgrade mre u can get like 10% defence to magic, melee, and archery attacks. Another thing about sheilds is, say a Goblin archer is aiming right for u, if u have a sheild equiped the best thing to do at that moment is to load the defence skill. it will lower the dmg of the arrow, and u won't be knocked back or take any wound damage, same thing goes for magic. Shields will be even more useful when assult comes out, so yea...
