    Mages, melee, archers...

    theres no job in mabinogi.

some ppl get a lot of magic skills: "mages"

and its same for the other "jobs"

but, i wanna know, if i can have a lot of magic, life AND combat skills

Also, i wanna know if we can be "messed up" in mabinogi like in MapleStory

(ex: a warrior who puts in INT and LUK (maple story))

Yes, you can have a lot of skills, it will just be harder to rank all of them.

Well, you can't technically mess up. But if you put a bunch of ap into a skill you don't want, then you can get a skill reset capsule.

    Re: Mages, melee, archers...

Nah, you can never mess yourself up THAT badly in this game.

The basis of the whole label this is based on the way people build up skills.  True, we can get any skill we want in this game.  However, AP comes in a very slow trickle.  Thus, the general route we take is to get all of the skills we want, but in Rank F (unlike most games, a low ranked skill is as effective as a high ranked one.. just less pwndamaging) then focus on one skill at a time for raising it up.

Thus everyone will have smash, defense, windmill, ice bolt, production mastery, so on, so forth.  However, those folks that rank up ice bolt first tend to be called 'mages' while those that work on a melee skill first tend to be called 'melee'.  In fact, sometimes we're called by that one skill: I'm a 'windmiller', since my windmill is my highest skill.

Although there are some skills that can take priority than others (i.e. windmill) generally, what you choose is up to you.  If you want to rank up ice bolt first, then smash next, then go right ahead.  Myself, I plan on windmill, then critical hit to come first, with me slowly raising herbalism in the meanwhile.   I believe I'll aim at ranged after that, given I'm working hard to get revolver.

Thus you can build however you like, though it's best to focus on one skill at a time (and to read up on if a few skills can compliment that one power skill).

    Re: Mages, melee, archers...

2 things help keep all skills useful, no matter their rank

    1) many skills are %, not direct damage.  I.E. smash and windmill will output anywhere between 100-300% damage.

    2) all skills have some sort of stat boost associated with it.  While some stats are more useful than others (dex or luck vs str or int) all skills will boost your stats to some degree.

The worst thing you could do would be raise a highly rated skill like fireball (not the basic firebolt, the adv. magic fireball) to a high rank like 6, then decide to rank windmill.  There are a lot of guides on how to rank the skills of your character.  The only thing that really matters is that you need to choose a goal for windmill and make that your priority before investing in other skills.  Windmill is the hardest skill to rank up and is much easier to do it first.

    Windmill F = basic use
Windmill 9 = fast load time
    Windmill 5 = increased range
    Windmill 1 = maximum range

If your like Kita, you can go solo ciar adv just for a boss mob finish :3

For the rest of us who are more sane~ any skill which requires you to worry about your prowness (combat power) is what you should be focusing first. Remember that before you rank anything else.

but, i wanna know, if i can have a lot of magic, life AND combat skills

If your level 2000, you can have any skill you want rank 1ed. So yes, you can do whatever you want. However, due to the length of time it takes to get that high, people usually concentrate on what you want first. (Everyone has critical 6 and windmill 6 now, I am no longer unique *cries) Due to the cap lock, its actually quite easy to max at rank 6 for a skill you want first.

Also, i wanna know if we can be "messed up" in mabinogi like in MapleStory

In the end, no, with 2000+ AP, you can do whatever you want. However, within the first half year you play mabi, the skills and stuff you invested should be based on helping your character. IE, weaving for archer, musical knowledge for mages, and windmill for everyone.

Why low ranked skills still work in Mabinogi.

    1. Because it's epic.

    2. To allow me to put it in favorites (with me changing the subject line)

    3. For truth.

Re: Why low ranked skills still work in Mabinogi.

That's the one thing I really hated about maplestory. Everything was too 1-dimensional and repetitive. I did play for a while to get good "items", but really, you couldnt' do much with any items at all. In this game you can rebirth and develop a new set of skills, or rank up a particular skill. If you don't want to rebirth, you can eat a lot of food and rank up your stats (they go away after rebirth). I saw a person with skillful title yesterday. Apparently, he ate berries and apples for 14 weeks straight. xD
