Guidance Goodness! Event Guidelines - Updated

If you haven’t done so already, please read the event description by clicking here. The following is a guideline for the game guides we are looking for Mabinogi. Please read the thread thoroughly before submitting an entry for the event. All entries must be posted on this thread.

We are looking for game guides from below 8 categories and multiple submissions are welcomed.

Here is a description of what we are looking for each guide category.

    1.      General Quests

This guide should provide information on steps how to complete general quests in-game such as an explanation of the different parts of the quest, what is asked to be done, which NPCs to talk to and what the rewards are for each quest. This guide should not include details regarding Mainstream Quests of Generation 1 (G1) because we don’t want to ruin the fun of discovering the storyline of G1 for other players who haven’t finished it yet.

    2.      Combat System

Mabinogi has a unique combat system and we want you to tell us how it works! Draft a guide on how timing and strategy works. You may also want to include the types of monsters in game and how to strategically battle these types of monsters in different battle environments.

    3.      Part-time Jobs

We are looking for a guide that explains how to get part-time jobs. The guide should include what types of part-time jobs are available, who offers them at what time, the importance and benefits of part-time jobs and the rewards of each part-time job.

    4.      Skills

Skills! Skills! Skills! are important in Mabinogi and the types of skills available varies. Explain the benefits, importance and the different types of skills available (combat, life, magic). We are also looking for information on how to use skills and the importance of leveling it up. Be sure to include details and the statistics on the different types of skills available.

    5.      Dungeons

In addition to quests, part-time jobs, this game also has dungeons. We want you to provide a guide on what types of dungeons are currently in game, how it works, where it is located, the difficulty, recommended levels and party members.

    6.      Raising Your Character

There are different types of character builds available. The guide should emphasis on what types of builds are there and how to raise those characters i.e. melee, magic, range, production, etc. This guide should also contain the best way to level up and use ability points accordingly.

    7.      Items

There are two different categories of items – in-game items and Cash Shop items. Your guide should describe the different types of items, who it is for and what it does, the importance, and how time affects items.

    8.      User Interface & Basic Game Functionality

We are looking for a guide that can accurately describe the user interface and functionality of Mabinogi. Draft a guide that includes what keys activate what command/function and what it does, the different types of windows opened in game, and the location of the buttons.

With these guides, please be as specific as possible and be sure to include screenshots! Guides including content not released in the North America version of Mabinogi will not be accepted! Please submit your entry for the event on this thread and be sure to note which Mabinogi guide category you are submitting for!

    - The Mabinogi Team -

    [Edited]

It has come to our attention that plagiarism has become an issue. If you come across a guide on this event that has been plagiarized from another guide, please use the report function listed on the bottom of every post and provide a link to the original guide. Thank you.

The forum member, jisako, has been disqualfied from the event. Thank you for your reports.

Read this thread would you kindly?

You will be banned and then there would be ham.

Post it. Ban it. Lock it.

GUIDE on SOLOING GOLEM in CIAR DUNGEON [Combat]

     Soloing Golem !

For small golem in Ciar beginners I have a lot of different ways. One way I do small golem is...

This is also available for Ciar Normal, as long as processed properly and with a little bit of luck.

    First things first !

Initial ! Attack it right away !

    Activate counter !

    Observe !

    1) If the golem is rushing towards you, it's helpful that you have a counter on.

    2) if the golem uses a skill, cancel counter and run away !

2.a) If you notice that the golem is using stomp, hold shift and click away from golem ! Then activate counter as long as you're in a reasonable distance ! Then Repeat observe step

2.b) If you notice that the golem is using smash(running towards you with a skill), attack with normal combo and activate counter ! Then Repeat observe step

2.c)  If you notice that the golem is using defense(walking around with a skill), activate smash and boom!  and activate counter ! Then Repeat observe step

2.d) If you notice that the golem is using counter(standing with a skill), You can do...

2.d.1) run away ! and activate counter and wait till it comes to you !
2.d.2) magic ! bam ! woot ! Use Fire, as I prefer, then quickly activate counter ! Repeat observe step

    *users note*

for me, after I countered golem. I activate Lightning.

If the golem's on counter, I just hit him with lightning then I use counter...

If golem's using Normal attack, I hit him with lightning right before he hits me then I'll quickly 1 hit him (yes, only 1 hit is available since it's considered as the "final hit" of your combo, so after you hit lightning then attack, he will get knocked back)....

If the golem's using smash, I deactivate lightning and then normal attack him, and then counter...

If the golem's on defense, deactivate lightning then smash all the way then counter...

     ..................

Apparently, it's kind of hard with the Basic Golem since it has PD (Passive Defense). Although you can just try our lame tactics XD

    Fire.. blah blah blah...

    Counter... lol lol lol...

    Fire.. bleh bleh bleh...

    Counter... lewls lewls lewls...

*note you may not die here, if you're lucky ;D

    *

I do not prefer Defense unless you have a Kite shield and Rank 5+ Defense skill and some godly armor...

Although you can use defense on beginner golem as long as you have a round shield at least

Windmill + Critial Hit Character Build Guide

in this thread i'll explain how to make a crit + windmill build with a secondary build follow up.

this build takes advantage of the fact that only 2 skills' strongness will be considered when calculating overall strongness

    • Melee

assuming you're gonna get melee combat mastery + smash
Rank up the following skills up to these ranks and leave them there unitl the next step
Rank up windmill first before any other skill in each step
order of the skill rasing in each step for other skills doesnt matter

    Skills:

    @Step 1@

    Melee Combat Mastery: D = 30 R
    Critical Hit : D = 30 R
    Smash : D = 30 R
    Defense : F = 30 R
    Counter : D = 30 R
    Windmill : B = 30 R

    Total AP: 54
    Total R : 45

    @Step 2@

    Melee Combat Mastery: D = 30 R
    Critical Hit : B = 50 R
    Smash : C = 50 R
    Defense : F = 30 R
    Counter : C = 35 R
    Windmill : A = 50 R

    Total AP: 77
    Total R : 75

    @Step 3@
From this point on there is no reason to add counter or defense

    Melee Combat Mastery: C = 60 R
    Critical Hit : 9 = 70 R
    Smash : B = 70 R
    Windmill : 9 = 70 R

    Total AP: 105
    Total R : 105

    @Step 4@

    Melee Combat Mastery: C = 60 R
    Critical Hit : 7 = 90 R
    Smash : A = 90 R
    Windmill : 8 = 90 R

    Total AP: 134
    Total R : 135

    @Step 5@

    Melee Combat Mastery: B = 120 R
    Critical Hit : 4 = 120 R
    Smash : 9 = 110 R
    Windmill : 7 = 120 R

    Total AP: 194
    Total R : 180

    @Step 6@

    Melee Combat Mastery: B = 120 R
    Critical Hit : 1 = 150 R
    Smash : 7 = 150 R
    Windmill : 6 = 150 R

    Total AP: 278
    Total R : 225

Now that critical hit has been mastered this as far as this guide will go.
If you want me to post the rest of it then ask in the help desk.

    • Archery

Assuming your gonna get ranged combat master + magnum
Rank up the following skills up to these ranks and leave them there unitl the next step
Rank up windmill first before any other skill in each step
order of the skill rasing in each step for other skills doesnt matter

    Skills:

    @Step 1@

    Melee Combat Mastery: F = 0 R
    Ranged Combat Mastery: D = 20 R
    Magnum : D = 30 R
    Critical Hit : D = 30 R
    Smash : F = 5 R
    Defense : F = 30 R
    Counter : D = 30 R
    Windmill : B = 30 R

    Total AP: 56
    Total R : 45

    @Step 2@
From this point there is no need to raise Defense, Smash, or Melee Combat Mastery

    Ranged Combat Mastery: C = 40 R
    Magnum : C = 50 R
    Critical Hit : B = 50 R
    Counter : C = 35 R
    Windmill : A = 50 R

    Total AP: 87
    Total R : 75

    @Step 3@
From this point on there is no reason to add Counter

    Ranged Combat Mastery: C = 40 R
    Magnum : B = 70 R
    Critical Hit : 9 = 70 R
    Windmill : 9 = 70 R

    Total AP: 114
    Total R : 105

    @Step 4@

    Ranged Combat Mastery: B = 80 R
    Magnum : A = 90 R
    Critical Hit : 7 = 90 R
    Windmill : 8 = 90 R

    Total AP: 154
    Total R : 135

    @Step 5@

    Ranged Combat Mastery: A = 120 R
    Magnum : 9 = 110 R
    Critical Hit : 4 = 120 R
    Windmill : 7 = 120 R

    Total AP: 220
    Total R : 180

    @Step 6@

    Ranged Combat Mastery: A = 120 R
    Magnum : 7 = 150 R
    Critical Hit : 1 = 150 R
    Windmill : 6 = 150 R

    Total AP: 310
    Total R : 225

Now that critical hit has been mastered this as far as this guide will go.
If you want me to post the rest of it then ask in the help desk.

I won't be explaining Mage builds because they have no definite "base" build.

    Re: Guidance Goodness! Event Guidelines

    Melee End-Game Character Build Guide

In this thread i'll explain how to make a character who is ment for melee combat

This build was only ment for combat functionality

Even though a character's main focus will be melee i find it retarted not to pick up all basic magic skills.

Heres how the skills should be laid out

    1. Combat Mastery 1 = 300 R
    2. Counter C = 35 R
    3. Critial Hit 1 = 150 R
    4. Smash 1 = 320 R
    5. Defense F = 30 R
    6. Windmill 1 = 350 R
    7. Sharp mind F = 0 R
    8. Rest F = 0 R
    9. First Aid F = 0 R
    10. Making Mastery F = 0 R
    11. Enchant F = 0 R
    12. Icebolt F = 0 R
    13. Firebolt F = 0 R
    14. LightningBolt F = 20 R
    15. Healing F = 20 R

    Total AP : 724
    Total R : 510 R

Now I'll explain the reasons behind every skill

    1. alot of str
    2. when your first starting out u'll have no stamina, what that means is your **** if counter drains all your stamina while your fighting an enemy.
    3. it's the only combat skill that'll stick to every combat builds
    4. main melee skill
    5. it's a bad skill but you wont be able to counter/windmill all the time
    6. second main melee skill
    7. it works for low lvl monsters but i like to use it to make sure the monster isnt charging at me with a smash.
    8. yes
    9. in later lvls it's kinda useless but there'll always be some noob asking for bandaids.
    10. extra stam is always good + 0 R
    11. unless your planning on never enchanting for the rest of your life, its essential. + 0 R
    12, 13, 14, 15. basic bolts are required.

Now Something lik this you could've thought up yourself.
So let's go over stuff you dont know.

Here's the order that you should go by:

    1. Basic skills
    2. Windmill + crit (at the same time)
    3. combat mastery
    4. Smash

    Explaination

    1. it's a given
    2. you should train windmill and crital hit at the same time because it's a pain in the ass if you start with smash first
    3. combat mastery will be alil harder but it's worth the extra str
    4. smash is the main melee character's skill. But why train it last? i already explain it earlier.

This build is for people know want to become the fabled Ultimate Weapon.
You'll have both the power of smash and revolver at your disposal
But in this build i'll build up for revovler.

    @Step 1@

    Melee Combat Mastery: D = 30 R

    Counter : D = 30 R

    Magnum : D = 30 R

    Total AP: 68
    Total R : 45

    @Step 2@
From this point there is no reason to raise Defense

    Melee Combat Mastery: D = 30 R
    Critical Hit : B = 50 R
    Smash : C = 50 R
    Counter : C = 35 R
    Windmill : A = 50 R
    Ranged Combat Mastery : C = 40 R
    Magnum : C = 50 R

    Total AP: 103
    Total R : 75

    @Step 3@
From this point there is no reason to raise Counter

    Melee Combat Mastery: C = 60 R
    Critical Hit : 9 = 70 R

    Windmill : 9 = 70 R
    Ranged Combat Mastery : C = 40 R

    Critical Hit : 4 = 120 R
    Smash : 9 = 110 R
    Windmill : 7 = 120 R
    Ranged Combat Mastery : A = 120 R
    Magnum : 9 = 110 R

    Total AP: 266
    Total R : 180

    @Step 6@

    Melee Combat Mastery: B = 120 R
    Critical Hit : 1 = 150 R
    Smash : 7 = 150 R
    Windmill : 6 = 150 R
    Ranged Combat Mastery : A = 120 R
    Magnum : 7 = 150 R

    Total AP: 374
    Total R : 225

    @Step 7@

From this point on it's best to only raise Windmill due to your strongness.

    Windmill : 1 = 350 R

    Total AP: 488
    Total R : 425

What this guide is about is preparing for the revolver skill. Most people are not likely to start over with a fresh character to make the most of their time. So i made this guide for the public that thinks that way and me.

But if your willing to sacrifice your effort and blood of your first character then it's best not to use this guide.

    Re: Guidance Goodness! Event Guidelines

The rest of the guides can be found here:
    http://www.xfire.com/clans/merchant/forums/44116/
i made these guides therefore i am eligible to distribute and edit my guides.

It's easier on the eyes there since they're in color. If they can be made with color then i would like that.

    Re: Guidance Goodness! Event Guidelines

    Proff

    Proff Definition
    noun.

    1. reference back to the original word 'profession'
    2. spoff of 'profession' spawned by me and my laziness of type out the whole word.
    3. Life skills in mabinogi
    4. main means of getting money
    5. reference to WoW's proff (jew crafting,weaving,engineering,etc)

Example: my proffs are weaving and sh*ting bricks

The reason behind why i made thread was because proff is a new word that's never been used in mabinogi before. in another words i made it up myself.

There are 2 main reasons why you would pick up a proff.
    1. make money
    2. stats

The best way, i believe, in making money is by crafting very expensive items that cannot be found anywhere else in the game then selling them to players for huge profit.

Yes, weaving and black smithing are the only ways in obtaining some of the rarest items in the game. If you wear one it's the equivalent of a huge sign saying
    "RICHEST PLAYER IN THE GAME"
    besides those items look bad-ass

    heres a pic

The other reason why you should pick up a proff is because of the stat bonuses they give you.

    Weaving: 43+ dex
    tailoring: 24+ dex
    Instrument: 24+ dex
    refine: 36+ dex
    Blacksmith: 22+ dex , 22+ INT
    potion M: 35+ int
    TOTAL: 159 DEX!!!

i dont know about you but i wouldnt mind 159+ dex as any combat character! Dex determines balance calculation in all forms of damage.
    for example
let's say my melee forcused character stats are these
    dmg: 0~10
    bal: 50%

what that means is i'll be doing around 5 dmg every hit.

    now let's compare
    dmg: 20~30
    bal: 40%

    dmg: 1~98
    bal: 20%

I'm comparing 2 weapons in the game (based off my faint memories)
    a board sword and a 2-handed claymore

weapon 1 will do: 24 dmg every hit
weapon 2 will do: 18 dmg every hit

in this comparison weapon 1 wins because it's minimal damage range is pretty decent.

NOW! what if your DEX is was very high? your balance will get higher also
    let's see with same weapons
    dmg: 20~30
    bal: 85%

    dmg: 1~98
    bal: 65%

    weapon 1: 28 dmg
    weapon 2: 62 dmg

see the difference? Dex makes a HUGE difference in melee damge.

Now for the archers. It'll almost make you cry.

Unlike melee damage, which is based on STR + DEX combo, archery damage is based on DEX + DEX!!

what it means is you dont have to distribute your points in both stats to be a halved effect, instead you get 100% of all the stats that in dex into both damage and balance.

Also unlike archery, melee doesnt get much str bonuses from life skills (actually none at all) so str is harder to raise than Dex.

Unfortunately i do not know the formula for archery damage but all i know is that if a melee's str + dex stat points equal to an archer's dex stat points archers will do more damage.

    Now onto Mages.

as far as i know the formula is this

idk about you but i dont understand a RedFlag about what that means!
From my experience i know that more DEX + INT = more dmg + balance

Mages have it hard just like melee,
they depend on 2 stats instead of one.
In the end the explaination is the same for mages as for melee.

dex makes a HUGE difference in damage, especially with lightning bolt skill.

    example:
    dmg : 40 - 150 (master rank, thx mabiworld)
    balance: 40%
    total dmg: 45

    dmg: 40 - 150
    bal: 75%
    total dmg: 70

see the difference? This also applies for the huge hiters such as fireball and thunder but since it's gonna be forever before they come out i wont explain them (pretty much the same idea anyways).

There you have it! my explaination of why proff is important!

    PART-TIME JOBS

Players can ask an NPC if part-time jobs are available by talking to the NPC and clicking start conversation using the Travel Diary and selecting the "Part-Time Jobs" option. The NPC will give a general outline of the job he or she wants done as well as the rewards, and the player can refuse or accept the job based on that.

By successfully completing many jobs, one may become close friends with the NPC, and may be given more difficult tasks.

You may do many part-time jobs in a day, but only one job of the same type each day. For example, you cannot do the Healer-type part-time job in both Dunbarton and Tir Chonaill in the same day. The NPCs won't allow it. It is best to do jobs on Baltane (Tuesday) since rewards are increased then.

  • Beginner - Complete 0 ~ 50 times
  • Intermediate Compelete 51 ~ 100 times and success rate ≥ 70%
  • Advanced Complete ≥ 101 times and success rate ≥

    Re: Guidance Goodness! Event Guidelines

  • here are the part time jobs availible

    Items and You

    Introduction
Like most games, items play a huge factor in every Mabinogi Life. This reference guide will help address commonly asked questions and provide basic information on the items that may be obtained within the Mabinogi game.

    Food and Potions - Yum
There are piles and piles of edible food within the game. Berries, Cheese, Meat, Cake...these are just a few examples of what can be eaten within the game. But what does Food actually do?
If you look on the user interface, you will see a golden bar immediately to the right of the blue mana bar. This bar represents your current Stamina. This Stamina bar will deplete as you perform actions, such as mining or attacking. However, you may begin to notice a black portion of the bar that, despite your best efforts, refuses to be filled. This black portion of the bar is your Hunger. This reduces the maximum Stamina you have and will not go below 50% without other things hindering your Stamina.
Now, to refill your Stamina bar, food may be consumed. Each food can change the physical appearance of your character. For example, berries will slim your character down, but cheese may make your legs stronger/bigger. Certain foods may even give you status bonuses. To eat your food, you may press "Ctrl" and "K" to consume the food that is placed lowest in your inventory.
Injuries that are inflicted are noted as Wounds. These Wounds black out a portion of your HP bar, making it impossible to recover through conventional means. The only way to recover Wounds is to Rest outside of a Dungeon, Rest by a Camp-Fire within a Dungeon, First Aid or through a Level Up.
Potions are used to refill your HP, Mana or Stamina. The red potions refill HP, the blue potions refill your Mana and the yellow potions refill your Stamina. There are hotkeys automatically assigned to each potion, with the potion that is physically placed lowest being consumed first. HP potions are used with the "H" key, Mana potions are consumed with the "J" button and Stamina potions are used with the "K" key.
However, one cannot consume potions indefinitely. After a certain number of potions used, one may be afflicted with "Potion Poison". In this state, certain stats are lowered for an extended period of time.

Passes and Scrolls - More than Parchment
Passes are Items that permit access to special versions of specific Dungeons. These Passes are one-time uses and may disappear within the alloted time. Beginner Passes may be obtained by asking specific NPCs for them while Basic Passes may be obtained through monster drops of treasure from chests. Passes may not be traded.
Scrolls may consist of Quest Scrolls, Fomor Scrolls, Enchant Scrolls or Music Scrolls.
Quest Scrolls have a certain quest inscribed on it that, within completion, will reward you. Quest Scrolls may be bought.
Fomor Scrolls are dropped by Monsters and may be used to complete specific Quests from Quest Scrolls. In general, 10 Fomor Scrolls are needed to complete any quest.
Enchant Scrolls can be used to Enchant your Equipment. Bonuses may be awarded because of this, but here's a fair warning - a failed Enchantment may lower your item's Durability.

Gold! Gold from the American River!
Gold is the currency within the Mabinogi World and may be used to buy nearly any item in the game. They are stored in your inventory in 1000 Gold stacks. Also, a wallet may be bought. For now, these wallets may only hold up to 10,000 Gold.
Gold can also be stored within the various Banks around the world, for a fee. Banks may also issue and cash checks. In addition, Banks may perform the "Direct Bank Transfer" service, given that the item you wish to buy reaches a certain amount of gold.
To separate your gold, click on your gold stacks/wallet while holding Shift and input the amount of gold you'd like to divide.

Feather, Bandages and Holy Water- Gifts from Nao...probably.
Phoenix Feathers are items that have the power to revive fallen players. To do this, simply hold "Ctrl" and press "J" and click on the fallen player. They will revive with just a sliver of their HP left.
Bandages are used with the skill "First Aid". This heals a portion of the injuries any player has taken, although it will not heal their actual HP.
Holy Water is used to Bless equipment, which would decrease the time it would take for Durability to go down by 300%. Also, when Blessed, equipment can not be dropped when you fall in combat. However, the equipment may lose the Bless enchantment.

    Nails, Gems, Wood, Wool...
These seemingly useless items are used for other Life Skills and the completion of quests. Specifically, Wool, Wood, Leather, Ores, Herbs, Cobwebs and perhaps some I have missed are directly involved with Life Skills including Herbology and Campfire. Other items, like Nails and Gems are used to complete quests, such as the School Training Quests.

Armor, Clothing, Weaponry and Tools - Oh My!
All four types of equipment, unfortunately, have a limited use. Their life span, so to speak, is their Durability. Equipment can also be dropped when you fall in combat. You can pick them up at the Town Center for about half of what they're worth. Holy Water can prolong the life of your equipment and prevent your equipment from dropping.
In addition, Equipment may gain experience through battle or use. This experience is under the label of Proficiency. This Proficiency is spent on upgrades that may improve various aspects of your Equipment, from max Durability to a better damage range.
Clothing comes in different colors and styles. They do not serve any purpose in Combat - but they do look flashy.
Armor serves a big purpose in Combat. Armor, in general, provides both Defense and Protection. Defense subtracts the damage you take by how much Defense Armor provides. Protection takes away damage by a percent dependent on your Protection rate. Armor may also vary in color.
Weapons come in the following forms (so far): Sword, Bow and Blunt. Close-Ranged Combat Weaponry (Sword and Blunt) have a maximum combo rate before knocking an opponent away. These weapons do not require charging time to use and consume Stamina per use. Also, Close-Combat attacks may never miss. Long Range Weaponry, on the other hand, require a charging time. The longer the charging time, the more accurate your shot is. In addition, arrows are necessary to combat anything using a Bow. Shots may miss. All Weapons also have a given damage range, a critical hit ratio, an injury rate, a speed factor, a balance number and an upgrade limit. Balance determines how varied your damage range will be. The higher the Balance, the more concise your damage will be.
Tools are used to perform Life Skills. These include Blacksmith Hammers, Shears and Cooking Knives.

Gifts - why can't I wear my Bikini Set?!
Gifts can not be used in any form, sadly. Their only function is to be given away to NPCs, to increase your intimacy level. And no, you can not wear your Bikini Set.

                                                               The Part Time Job Guide.

    1. The main thing about doing a part time job is the reward so lets get on with it there are many types of jobs and places to do them.
    2. First we'll talk about deadlines these are given amounts of times to do your task like if you were working for Malcolm he might ask you for a ball of thick yarn the first time trying to make it might not work so you should get 10 or more wool bundles in case it fails too prevent going back and forth from field to loom.
    3. If in any case you can't hold the item someone wants you to deliver you can sort your inventory for room like putting stuff together you don't have to throw out stuff.
    4. Now if you need a tool and you don't have you can A.buy it or B.Talk to boss and click report now it will only delete the quest.
    5. The farther away you are from Tir Chonail the harder the job so if you want it easy stay near Tir Chonail.

                                                     That's a lot of stuff I'd say,

Monsters Too Strong? Do One At a Time [Combat System]

    • The Basics

Many times in the game while doing a dungeon, hunting for a boss, or even traveling around the land you will find that you'd have to fight a group of monsters that can easily defeat you if you try to attack all of them at once. During this time, you'd have to use magic or long ranged weapons to lure the monsters one at time. There are a few skills that are required to lure them though while still being safe from any deaths.

Without the following skills, there is a high chance of you being defeated.
      -Magnum Arrow
Pretty much without this skill you can't lure the monster to you since the archers would need to use it to do the most damage.
      -Campfire
The archers would need this to use fire arrows, which dramatically increases the damage done.
      -Windmill
Someone with this skill should be standing in front of the archer(s) just incase the monster being lured gets too close
      -Heal
If there are any mistakes done during this method then someone can heal an ally's hit points to prevent loss of exp from fainting

    • How To Do This

First, someone should set up a campfire near the archers but not too far away from the monsters. The archer(s) should set up magnum arrow while someone stands right in front of the fire between the archers and the monsters. One of the archers should have heal because windmill takes away 10% of the user's hit points when used.
Once everything is set up then one of the archer(s) should magnum arrow the determined monster. Make sure everyone knows which one it is so you don't shoot two different monsters and end up having to be revived. When the monster is knocked back, if there is another archer then they should wait until the monster gets back up until shooting. Once all the archers use magnum arrow once then they should spam normal arrows. The person with windmill should get ready to attack if one of the archers get a lagspike and doesn't shoot. If the monster moves left or right(like if it goes left and when it comes the windmill can't reach it) then the archers and the person in front should move because if the windmill can't save the archers, the archers could load too slow and faint. After doing this for a while just repeat until all the other monsters are dead.

    • Summary

This method can also work for certain dungeon bosses or field bosses that have an AOE attack (ex. Stomp) that could do enough damage to make someone with low hit points faint. So if there's a lot of monsters that you can't handle all at once, use this method, if there's a certain boss that you need to fight from far away, use this method. This strategy can work with almost all of monsters if done correctly. So if you think you can make it work, use this.

    Re: Guidance Goodness! Event Guidelines

Welcome to my guide which ,following the title, is purely derived from my own common sense and experience from playing Mabinogi! It will be split into 2 parts a leveling guide and a combat guide.

    Part 1(Rushing towards level 16-17-18)

Ok I'm going to be pretty straightforward from now on so here we go!

    1) Talk to Duncan and reach level 2(finish Nao's letter quest). He will tell you how to complete a quest (just click on yellow complete button in the quest box)

    2) Walk down to the inn and receive the rest skill from Nora (the girl outside).  Talk to Nora and click on start conversation then skills, you will receive instructions on how to use hotkeys and a completed quest icon.(Click on the icon). After this go inside the inn and talk to inn-manage about skills to gain info. on the campfire skill (ignore this quest untill later).

    3) You will now receive a go to school quest.Run over to the school and talk to Ranald (The guy outside). He will teach you the defense skill and when you finish the quest you will hit level 5. Talk to Ranald about skills and you will recieve a delivery quest for windmill. If you are planning on getting windmill do the quest, if not or if you are done with the quest go inside the school and talk to Lassar (Redhead) about skills to recieve a book on smash. Keep clicking advanced book reading untill you have learned the skill and put on a point on smash if you want to. You may also hit the training dummy's until you reached level f combat mastery(I strongly suggest putting a point into this rank as its free and its required to learn critical hit).

    4) Move up to the church and talk to Endelyon(the nun outside) about skills. She will give you a quest to fetch 5 chicken eggs, and once you are done give the eggs to Endelyon, finish the quest, and voila level 6.Around this step you should receive a quest for one green gem from the banker (just keep this in mind for now)

    5) Now you should move up to the healer's house and talk to the nurse inside named Dilly's about skills. She will give you info. on the counterattack skill. go outside and talk to Trefor(The black knight). There will be a cutscene with him using smash on a fox, then all you do is kill 5 YOUNG brown foxes. Once you are done with that talk to him to recieve trefor's pass: then click on start conversation, memo(its a small tab on bottom right hand corner of the chat book), then click counter attack. He will speak some nonsense about your physical stance then you will gain 100% mastery on counterattack skill(rank it to rank F if you wish).

    6) Go up further north to a place named alby dungeon. Go inside and drop trefor's pass on the small square next to the statue, and you will be teleported into the dungeon. the dungeon should be easy enough (read part 2 the combat guide), but as a note get a spiderling to attack you (by hitting it), then let it hit you until it does a critical so you learn critical hit. (Place points if you wish). Also the rewards from the lost resident is 1.8k gold or hunter gloves( I prefer the cash but w/e). Also a note if a spiderling in the dungeon doesn't drop a green gem for the quest hit some signposts are explore the graveyard for one.

    7) Now after this you should be around level 7, and receive Deian's quest. First and foremost finish the gem quest to reach level 8, and hightail your butt to the Tir Conaill Pasture (East across the river from the graveyard where the sheep are). Talk to Deian ( hes north) and you will be teleported to a small enclosure with lots of sheep and gray wolves. Your job now would be to make sure at least 5 sheep are alive and kill as many gray wolves as possible. Once this is done talk to Deian to finish the quest, then click on start conversation, memo, and campfire skill to receive 5 firewood and a campfire manual.(If he tells you to kill 5 gray foxes sorry, but I have no way of helping you out on this one) Adv. book read the campfire manual until you have learned the skill and cast the skill(do it where someone is standing, next to another fire, or where any other likely physical annomalies exist to prevent you from finishing the spell but not prevent you from casting it. (The cursor should be a circle and not a X if you do it correctly). This way you save your firewoods, but finish the quest. (The firewoods will be important for later).

8)You should have recieved Malcom's Ring quest after finishing Deian's Quest. Talk to Malcom to receive a tailoring kit which you drop in that square in Alby dungeon. Then talk to him again about skills to gain a quest for tailoring (you shear 6 or 10 wools from the sheep using a GATHERING KNIFE which is bought from Deian) The boss will be a giant yellow spiderling which is a bit more tough, but easy nonetheless.( If you follow Part 2)

    9) Once you are out of the dungeon you may receive Dilly's berry collecting quest, sheep shearing quest, Malcolm's Cobweb Collector Quest, or hunt 5 white spiders(followed by hunt 5 gray foxes then 5 gray wolves). It may seem a mouthful but all you should do is punch a tree until it yields one berry, go grab 5 cobwebs from the graveyard, shear away 5 sheep at the pasture(10 if you got the tailoring quest), or hunt 5 white spiders at the graveyard and 5 gray foxes east of the pasture. You should now complete these quests and move on.

    10) By now you should have finish Malcom's Quests (cobwebs, shearing, and tailoring). Now you should receive a quest from old man Duncan who randomly mentions one npc that spoke positively about you. Talk to the npc to recieve a title and some gold and exp. Title Bonuses will be shown below

All titles listed below give 5 hp and 10 stamina(just listing differences)

    Trefor's Friend

    +5 Strength

    Deian's Friend

    +5 dexterity

    Malcom's friend

    +5 intelligence

    Nora's Friend

    +5 will

    11) After this is completed you will recieve Production Mastery quest and Magic Mastery Quest. Finish these for the boost in exp and maybe for the skills

    12) Now you will recieve Tracy's woodcutting quest(if you haven't you will-I will say this word- GRIND to level your skills or w/e at any place you desire(more info. in part 2)

    13) To finish the woodcutting quest walk south of Tir Connaill until you get to the portal marked Dugald Isle.(Or if you place your cursor over the in-game clock it will say current or next moon-gate ....., if it says Dugald Isle go to the Tir Connail moongate (southeast of Tir Connail and teleport to the lumber camp)). Once you are at the lumber camp talk to Tracy and you will receive a gathering axe and a quest for 6 firewood. Remember that firewood you saved up from the campfire quest, well good for you if you saved it because you will only need to collect one more to finish the quest! You will perhaps be level 15 by now, and you should finish the quest scroll  Tracy gave you(or if you are age 11 or 10 kill a brown bear for bear slayer at age 10 w/e title until the silver owl swoops over you, and gives you a quest to talk to Steward.

    14) When you recieve the quest mentioned above walk south of the lumber mill until you reach a portal named Dunbarton. Click on the portal and continue heading south to the town. ( quick note: Grab 5 eggs for a later quest). Talk to Steward to recieve a nice 4k exp.

    15) Now you should walk over to the weapon shop and buy a gardening hoe(I'll explain later) and w/e else you want to spend on.  A silver owl will swoop by you and you will a get a quest for -gasp- 5 chicken eggs to the grocery. Finish the quest to get to maybe level 16 and go outside and farm 10 potatoes(equip garden hoe, and dig the green plants on the farms).

    16) Another silver owl will swoop over you for -gasp again*- 10 potatoes for the church! Give the potatoes to the priestess outside to recieve another batch of exp and 2 holy waters.(Bless w/e or store them in the bank).

    17) Now you should just chill untill another silver owl swoops over you to talk to town office manager for another free batch of exp

    18) You probably might get a quest to go to bangor now. In order to reach bangor go south of dunbarton and keep going south following the red exclamation point labeled Bangor. Go head into the portal and talk to the guy for a nice 10khp. If you think you can handle the goblins(which will kill you). Stick around for the next quest to fly by which will be an ore collecting quest.( to do this buy a pick-axe, go into barrio dungeon, then kill goblins in each room until you hit a place with ore, after that go back to where you came from go upstairs then click on statue of goddess to bail out.(If you need help don't hesitate to make a party)

    19) Once you are done with that you may go back to Tir Conaill and finish up hunt giant red spider, or do hunt 5 black wolf, white wolf, brown dire wolf, black dire wolf, white dire wolf, bear, wisp, kobloid's...... After this I recommend farming Ciar beginner, then move up to Ciar normal, then math, then Rabbi(Dunno anything else after math).

    PFAQ(Possibly Frequently Asked Questions)

Where did you learn all this?

A: My fact that I'm anal about having a perfect character resulted in me creating at least  different accounts( which resulted in me gaining a few knicks on playing this game

omg I GOT KILLED BY A BOSS AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO HELP!!!!!

    A: Read part 2 please

    Mesos I LOVE MAPLESTORY

A: I'm not made out of mesos ty

    Part 2 Combat Guide

     My personal hotkey allocation

    F1) Defense
    F2) Smash
    F3) Counterattack
    F4) Windmill
F5) Combat Mastery( To cancel skills)
    F6-F11) Ranged Skills or Magic
    F12) Rest

    My personal Attack pattern

    Smash-Counter-Windmill-Defense-Normal Attack-counter-windmill......

    Reasons for this

Smash: High damage and knock back at the beginning to prepare for a counter

Counter: High damage and knock back to prepare for windmill

Windmill: Now heres the tricky part, in order to fend off a rushing monster with windmill you must activate windmill, ctrl-click to target the monster, and rapidly click the left mouse button when he approaches with a smash, counter, or regular attack. If you succeed you will kb him back and prepare yourself for defense

Defense: Prepare for my normal atttack

Normal Attack: This is just to cause the main back-breaking damage of the combo there are many ways to pull this off (listed here) http://forum.nexon.net/Mabinogi/forums/thread/810548.aspx

-And the endless cycle repeats itself (more info/ in the link above)

    Monsters

    1) Foxes: One of the most easiest monsters you will ever counter perfect for training skills after you rebirth or what-not

    Skills Used: Defense

Suggestions: Just smash when he uses defense and pursure when he runs

    2) Wolves(I include all types): A moderate level monster with a wide range of attack patterns. Still easy to defeat if correctly fought against

    Skills: Smash, Defense, Counterattack

Suggestions: Use my personal attack pattern if the monster continues to use normal after smash. If the monster uses a skill here is a description of what you should do

Wolf uses skill and stand still: He's using counter so go up to him and windmill his butt off

Wolf uses skill and runs after you: Click combat mastery to cancel defense if are using it then use a normal attack, if you are using windmill or counter don't do anything, if you are using smash then cancel then use normal

Wolf uses skill and tries to circle you: Hes using defense so cancel any skill you are using and activate smash

    3) Spiders: Imagine a more aggresive and hard-hitting fox with slightly longer range

    Skills: Defense

    Suggestions:

Regular white/red/black spiders: Just use my personal attack pattern and use smash when he uses defense

Boss red: Use my personal attack pattern but be more cautious

Boss yellow: Use smash then move directly to counter-def-3hit-counter-def-3hit. Be careful as his defense last shorter than most other spiders which may end up you getting hit during a smash

    4) Golem: Giant Rock that speaks utter nonsense and wants to pound your innards out

Small: Use my attack pattern when you solo, but when he gigantisizes you will be hit with his full force during defense(you won't be knockbacked) and I think counter will be useless(unsure)

Normal: Counter will be useless meaning your gonna have one hellava time soloing. If your in a party have at least 3 smashers conescutively smashing the golem

    5) Goblin: The small ones aren't much trouble but be careful as they can easily pierce through defense, there main downside is that they hesitate to attack

Small: Just use my attack pattern(or yours) and you will be fine

Normal: Normal attack pattern if def/lvl/hp is good to tank a hit, otherwise run

Archers: Just be careful of there counter and smash and you will be fine, Note: if they are aiming at you and you are far away run if your close pull a normal attack on them. Also try not getting mobbed

    6) kobloids: More aggresive and hard-hitting goblins(DON'T get mobbed)

    Small: Same as goblins

Archers: Same as goblins but there magnum shot hurts a LOT(not to mention it wounds you).

    7) Hellhounds: Pretty easy boss they occasionally use a fire attack that does 4x dmg, but thats it.

Suggestions: If you are low leveled keep your distance and use magic/ranged. If you don't use magic/ranged use smash when appropriate.

Here is the skill build i follow

    PFAQ

Windmill sucks it takes 10% hp Counterattack better

A: Right.... Especially when windmill can be used as a counterattack, is cast half a second faster than counterattack, doesn't waste your stamina like counterattack, allows you to hit more than one target(especially mimics) unlike counterattack, can be cast when wanted(as long as the enemy is in range) unlike counterattack, and counters 3 different attacks(including counterattack itself),  gives +1 str and +3 will every time you level it( +2 str and +3 will after rank B, then +3 str and +4 will after rank 5) unlike counterattack(gives +1 dex but dosen't increase), and it increases in range unlike counterattack.

    OMFGWTFBBQ

A: Get out now and consult a psychiatrist

Why did you call the guide purely based on common sense?

A: Because I used common sense when I formed this guide when I was playing
