The following are commonly asked question by people new to the game about how the arena system works. In this FAQ ill be clearing up some misconceptions about how the arena works and what you can do to improve your game.
Why is there no one in the arena?
Well no one is in the arena because you are in the wrong channel, people who play in the arena like to have a specific channel to play on for combat because everyone knows that the more bodies you can cram into the room the size of your typical boss room is preferable. Only people who are unexperinced or comunist only want to fight 7 or 8 people at a time, thats why everyone who cares about what them terrorist did to us on 9/11 go to chan 1 arena to ensure that all spawns are camped effectively.
Im a melee only character, should i train some magic?
The easy answer is no. No one in the arena actually uses magic its considered one of the hardest ways to kill someone, its a proven fact that your more likely to get more kills using your dagger than anyone dumb enough to spend ap points to get rank 6 magic. Anyone who tells you diffrently obviously is a communist.
Why are there people sitting down in the arena, even when its packed to the brim?
These people are called "teamers", sitting is actually the offical way to signal to someone that you are on a team and have the complete security of your team mates to make sure you can rest to gain stamina. If you thought they were sitting to gain health or perhaps meditating to compensate for the amount of icebolts they have shot... your hopeless.
Someone told me to "GTFO" when they killed me, what does that mean?
GTFO is internet slang for " Greetings There Formidable Opponet"
Why are there people trying to start a dungeon party in the arena?
These people are probly confused and thought that the arena gave exp, thus they called in a few friends to finish the dungeon faster. This mistake happens often as you and your other arena contenders do seem an awful lot like zombies and other mabinogi NPC creatures. Once the offending party finds out that you do infact do not give EXP for your death they will leave.
What do these stars above my head mean?
Thats a harder question than you might think. One star means that your just entering the arena and are eager to kill someone with more stars than yourself. This is why people with big stars above their heads with the number 80 inside them want to kill you so quickly. Its not personal by any means they just consider you an unacceptable risk. People with 80 Stars above their heads, this person is obviously someone very skilled to have killed this many people without a team. Youll find that people who join teams or "gangs" tend not to have many stars because they are very busy with welcoming and teaching newer arena members and then donating their stars back to them so that they can continue to enjoy the arena.
Why are 8 people attacking me at a time?
This is a glitch that Devcat is still working on, it may seem like a team of 8 people are attacking you but in reality its only one person. This happens because you computer doesnt have a Uber card installed. To get an Uber card contact your local bestbuy and ask for a sales associate, simply saying "My computer isnt uber enough do you sell uber?" should be sufficent. Untill you can afford an uber card to handle the drop of framerates that having 40 people in one arena causes, i recommend you join a "gang" so that skill isnt a factor any more.
People are standing behind the pillars, is this an exploit?
No, nexon has said many times already that these are acceptable areas to rest and regenerate without having to leave the arena.
I will update this later as i learn more about the arena myself.
