A Guide to Weapons.
Chapter 1- Weapons
This is easy considering that even bare hands are considered a weapon.
Weapons have varying strengths and weaknesses. For example, a weapon might be strong but low speed, hits and endurance and vise versa.
When you hover your curser over a weapon, you can see
-Name (including blessings)
-Icon (picture)
-The attack speed and hits (the amount you can hit)
-The damage it inflicts in base (so your stats also contribute to the damage it causes, if you really want to know, then look at your character stats.)
-The % of damage that will be turned into wound (noted as injury)
-A percentage that adds to your base critical percentage.
-How proficient you can use the item (by continuing to use the weapon, you can raise proficiency. Some weapons do not have proficiency such as the base sword Eiry)
-Endurance (Endurance goes down after use. The weapon’s maximum endurance is the second number. When you get your weapon fixed and the person makes a mistake, the endurance lost by this is irreplaceable but you can buy another weapon.
-How many times you have/you can bless/upgrade this weapon.
That is what should be the item box says from top to bottom.
(If you tried to look up the stats of “Bare hands” you would be unsuccessful.)
Also, weapons like bow use other items to function:
Bowsà Arrows
Crossbowsà Bolts
Chapter 2- Blessings.
You get the blessing skill if you find a magic powder. (But please do not steal them from other people, it’s not like you’re the only one trying hard to get titles and so forth.)
With the magic powder, you need an upgrade scroll.
There are three different types of scrolls.
1) The mixed- Which gives you some or one of each type below.
2) The regular- Which gives you only good upgrades.
3) The bogies- Which only gives you bad upgrades. (Best to burn any weapons blessed by bogies.)
Now each scroll has a different title in it. (Ex. Brown fox, fountain, slug, rustic, cracked.)
These give you a specific bonus.
Then, there is a randomized upgrade scroll. It randomizes the title you can get.
THE TITLE WILL ONLY STICK ON THE NAME OF THE WEAPON, NOT ON YOU. (And that is why they will ask you which weapon to bless.
But usually for randomized upgrades, they only give you bogies.
Keep in mind that a weapon can be blessed and/or upgraded to a certain amount, that amount cannot be changed and you cannot reverse blessings.
Each blessings are ranked to organize them.
There is a chance that the blessing/upgrade might fail. Sometimes, it will make the weapon disappear.
But after a successful blessing, you can reap the rewards of various bonuses.
There is a water used to bless items called the water of lymerik. (Not sure how to spell that now.) If successfully blessed, the water slows down endurance deterioration.
You get scrolls and magic powder from dungeon end chests (usually) and the water from church part-times.
Also, some people can modify weapons like swords biased on your proficiency level.
Diagram:
#1(#2%)
#2 a percentage which will increase by use of weapon/armor/clothing (excluding gloves, bandannas, and shoes)
#1 is an amount. It goes up by one after every time the #2 gets to the 100%
#1 is the important one because you need a certain amount of proficiency points to upgrade weapons/armors/clothing.
Depending on the proficiency points, you can ask for different upgrades. There upgrades also cost gold, so be careful and not just go clickity click-click on those buttons.
Chapter 3- Repair
Aw, now your blade is dull. Time to get it fixed!
You can go to the blacksmith of the town and ask for repairs.
There are two types of repairs. 1 Point repair and Total repair.
Contrary to beliefs, total repair does not cost more that the 1 point repairs done over and over again. I checked with my gathering ax.
When you ask the NPC to repair your item, the 1 Point repair cost is determined by the weapon/armor/clothing and the total repair cost is determined by the 1 point repair cost. The NPC also tell you the percentage chance of success.
WARNING! If they make a mistake, they will refund the money lost by the mistake and the endurance point that vanished CANNOT be taken back.
You might as sell the weapon if you can when you reach endurance 4. Cause it’s not going back to 20! But you can buy a new weapon.
And that concludes another weapon guide.
This is to show you how to level up as a pure melee
Quick guide to leveling up your combat skills, and also comparing it to other skills
First you want to level up your combat mastery mainly, counter second, defend third, and lastly smash. Because the combo I use needs counter and defend ALOT.
I shall start by saying this, full combo counter defend repeat. That is one of the best combos, and the one I ALWAYS use.
You barely want to focus on other skills, because if you do your melee will be weak.
Maybe you should upgrade frost bolt and lightning bolt some, right? WRONG!
When your melee use combat skills ONLY!!! AND NOTHING ELSE!!!
Ranging, a very nice skill, does the same damage as melee and maybe more. You can get the fire arrow title from it, VERY nice! One disadvantage, its very hard to use. You have a wait period to shoot arrows and alot of the time you miss. While the magnum shot helps it doesent make ranging good
As I said, when your melee ONLY use combat!
This concludes my guide on character development for a pure melee!
Why read this?
Sometimes you are just asking yourself what to do next or if counter drains too much stamina.
This guide will teach you the fundaments of "what to do next", though it is reccomended to have a few points in Sharp Mind to actually see what your target is doing. (this guide will cover pvp battles as well) A main point in starting your next move is knowing what your target is doing, you can predict what they're going to do by looking at them and somehow hear skill sounds.
-How to predict moves and counter back (monster section [M]) (player section [P])*note some moves are difficult to fight back against
[M]-Common Moves To Read
Normal Attack: One of the most basic moves to read is a normal attack. Its only an attempt to attack you. To read this move, you will notice there was no skill activation sound or skill thing on the monster's head.
To Beat Normal Attacks: You must defend youself with the defence skill, walk away from the enemy while using defence to gain a bit more time while using this, but I highly reccomend this to be used at the end of every attack. Why? Because it doesn't take a major drain in stamina.
Defence: This ones pretty simple. If the target will begin walking around or towards you. Pretty simple.
To beat Defence: Normally an enemy would use defence for a short time. You would either use smash or wait it out with defence. If you are low on stamina and want to save it for another defence then wait out the defence by standing close to the enemy with defence active. The monster will either attack or activate another skill. That is the point when you attack, if its a normal attack, block it and smack back.
Smash: The target will run at you with a skill sign on its head.
To beat Smash: Many people would counter, but since we're saving stamina, I'd suggest normal attack, but some monsters like bears can trick you. Therefore I'd use a windmill or shoot it or magic.
[M]-Moves that are kinda tricky
Windmill: This one would be blending in with counter. Common monsters that can't use this move. Fox, Wolf, Rat(not ratmen), Spider, Wisp, goblin, mimic, bat, skeleton(not sure about the humanoid ones), kolbold, and the field bosses ogre and troll(maybe some others, wait these are commonly known). To predict this move, you will see the target shows no sign of movement.(for some monsters they growl at you or something)
To beat windmill: The best way is to shoot the target or use magic, if you have none of those skills, then walk up to it with defence. The target will then activate windmill which you then block, but can't attack yet. There you will activate defence again since you can't attack it. After that walk away from the target while activating. There you shall predict your next move once you made a safe distance to read enemy skills.
Counter: This one would blend in with windmill. What ever you do, don't smash or run up and attack.
To beat Counter: Same as before, go with defence and walk up to the target. There you await your next move, if the target is activating a skill you know what to do. Either that or you can shoot it down.
[M]-Skills you know will happen
Arrows: Just an archer sniping you. You can see if the archer enemy runs around, its gonna shoot you.
To beat Arrows: Best to run at it if your very close to the enemy. If not use defence. Sure you would take some hits, but its better than taking it head on.
Magic of any kind (cept healing): The target would just charge up and you would hear a charge up noise.
To beat Magic of any kind (cept healing): If you are very close to the target, just smack away before it can charge. If you are far, then try sniping it or walking towards it with defence. (will be gone over in player section if its a ice attack)
Ground Smash: Simple, the target raises their arm.
To beat Ground Smash: Quickly shoot it or stand as far as possible (if possible) Either that or you can't dodge it.
*note players do not show a skill mark on above the head when activating, but can be heard
[P]Common Skills
Normal attack: You will see a player rushing at you. No skill sound would be heard.
How to beat normal attack: Defence, counter, windmill, or hit from a distance. Any hits from a player will do major damage.
Arrow: The player carries a bow and runs away. Planning to snipe you.
To beat Arrow: Block it or get behind something. Or quickly by taking chances shoot back.
[P]What People Trick you with
Counter, Windmill, and Defence: These moves can be all used to trick you. They can because the player can just stand still.
To beat the thing above: Either wait it out with defence or fire with ice bolts.
[P]Difficult Stuff
Magic: This is very annoying. The player will attempt to run away and hide behind the walls and charge they're spells. You can notice they are casting when they run behind a wall or something.
To beat this annoying menace: I personally would gang up on the person with my buddies, but if you're alone then i suggest you use charge a quick casting magic and fire away before the enemy does. Otherwise try to range them if they try to run. This tends to be annoying.
Stuff that wasn't covered
-Ganging up: beat by windmill or with more people. To avoid being ganged by monsters, I suggest pulling them away from the pack.
-Hit and runs: Just snipe down the enemy or get some friends to corner a target
This is a guide for starters, so it doesn't have details about certain monsters
1.Ok To get the cooking skill you first have to head over to dunbarton and ask the restraunt owner (Glenis) for skills she will reply and give you a book that is (cooking 101).
2.Second read the book because you will find find alot of information if your a beginer cook.
3.if you dont know any recipes the book will give you one (strawberry milk) ^_^
4.Lastly if you ever optain any book read i and if there is a yellow seal right click it and press advanced book reading.
i hope this helps any up coming chefs out there good luck^_^
Hi, my name is Cupid and I play in the server Mari. You may have seen me around the PVP arena pwning it up or getting pwned... Well, but the main reason that I'm here is to help people out on PVP so that everybody is able to have a fun time pwning it up. But let's start with the basic's first, if you already know the "basic's" scroll down and I'll be explaining some tactics and skills in PVP.
1.) What is PVP? PVP stands for "Player versus player", and it allows you to interact with other players inside a battle system. Thus, allowing you to be able to fight other players with ordinary skills, like you would to a monster. 2.) Where is PVP? There is only one PVP arena open right now, and that is the "Alby Dungeon Arena". You can get into the arena by buying "Alby Arena Coins" from Ranald in Tir Chonaill (Ranald is near the school in Tir Chonaill). Than you would head down towards the Alby Dungeon, and when you arrive at the dungeon make sure that you only DROP ONE ARENA COIN onto the Alby dungeon alter. Once you are inside the "dungeon", you are still not completely yet inside the arena yet. If you enter the next room from the statue of Goddess, you will see a goblin NPC and behind him is a rock statue (It doesn't look alot like a statue but it does look like a rock). You will now be required to spend 5 more coins to enter the ACTUAL PVP arena. 3.) Do I have a certain amount of "lives" when I go into the PVP arena? No, you do not "die" if you are knocked out a certain amount of times. Whenever you get knocked out, you are given the options of reviving at the PVP dungeon entrance, reviving at the arena sides, or waiting for rescue (Right now, the waiting for rescue doesn't do anything, because nobody can use feathers to revive anyone right now for some strange reason. Anyway it is still better if you revive at the arena sides than to waste money buying feathers. My guess right now is that you won't get any EXP from reviving people in the PVP arena). 4.) What does the stars floating above people's head do? When you enter the PVP arena you will receive a "star" that will be floating above your head. Those stars have two uses: a.) Keeps you inside the PVP arena when time runs out. b.) Allows you to trade the stars with the NPC in the arena dungeon entrance for more arena COINS. Right now the coins have no value but allows you to enter the arena, but in the future there will be NPC's that will ONLY ACCEPT THESE ARENA COINS AS PAYMENT for an item inside their shop. Some of those items might even be VERY RARE, so might suggestion to you right now is to keep it and save it inside your pocket. 5.) How do I get more stars? Will I be able to lose stars? The only way for you to get more stars is to knock out people who has stars floating above their heads, if you are able to do that, you are able to STEAL A STAR from him or her. You can NEVER STEAL MORE THAN ONE STAR AT A TIME. But remember, you can lose stars too, if someone is able to knock YOU out, they are eligible to steal a star from YOU. SO PROTECT YOUR STARS! 6.) I see people walking around with a BIG star with a number inside it floating above their heads. What does that mean? If you are able to obtain 5 STARS, than those stars would automatically turn into a BIG STAR with a number 1 in it. The big star would have a number one in it because it is representing that the person has 5 stars. If you don't get it, it is like this: 1 x 5 = 5. The one stands for the big star, while the 5 stands for the little star. In the end you would get the total amount of stars that the player has. So if I have a BIG star with the number 2 in it, than it would go something like this: 2 x 5 = 10 stars. The two stands for the big star, while the 5 stands for the amount of little stars. In the end you would get the total amount of stars that the player has. BUT, IF A PERSON HAS A BIG STAR AND THAN A FEW MORE LITTLE STARS BESIDE IT. Remember that for every 5 stars that you have you get, you receive a BIG star with a number in it. But if you already have a big star and obtained 5 more stars the NUMBER INSIDE THE BIG STAR WILL RISE, so you will not be able to get another big star. My explanation is a bit crazy, so just do it like this: Multiply the number inside the big star by 5 than add the total amount of little stars in. Nexon programmed that so that players would be able to easily make out who has the most amount of stars and to make the PVP system look neater. 7.) Are there rules in the PVP arena? No, there are no rules about how you should participate inside the PVP arena. But remember, if you are unable to have at least one star before time runs out inside the arena, you are automatically kicked out. You can still go back into the arena though, but you will just have to spend 5 more stars to enter. 8.) What happens when the timer runs out? When time runs out inside the arena, the players without any stars are kicked out. BUT, the players WITH stars receive free healing for HP, MP, and stamina from the arena itself. BUT REMEMBER, THE MORE AMOUNT OF STARS YOU HAVE THE LESS AMOUNT OF HEALING THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE. 9.) Why do people PVP? People mostly PVP because it is FUN, but it sometimes may not be fun if you are losing or just frustrated with the other players. Some people might just PVP for the Arena coins, because they might know what kinds of nice equips or items that are coming out...

Now that we are done with the basic stuff, let's move on to the INTERMEDIATE stuff.
10.) What is recommended to have inside the PVP? You do not need any fancy equipment to participate inside the PVP, but if you want to EXCEL AND PWN than just read these tips: 1. ARMOR- Armor is a very important part about pvp, because it allows you to stay alive for a LONGER amount of time than having no armor. The people you will see surviving the longest inside the PVP is the people who has a LOT of armour on. Armor can play a LARGE part inside the PVP, because it can decide if you will die within 2 hits or 3 hits or more. Thus giving you enough time to win the battle or lose it. (If you can't afford really nice armor, try buying a Linen Curiess [someone will have to help me correct the spelling of that]. It is only 15k and provides 4 defence and 1 protection [need to check in on the protection part], but enough to be VERY handy. 2. SPELLS OR RANGE WEAPON- Most of the people inside the PVP will be using SPELLS, so if you plan on being heavily equipped with nice armor and weapons but no spells. You might as well give up, because by the time you reach your opponent you would most likely be knocked out or close to being knocked out. 3. WINDMILL OR COUNTER- One of my tactics that I will be sharing with you will be required that you have windmill or at least counter. Windmill is very important! (You can get the skill Windmill by talking to ranald and than clicking on skills. He will introduce to you about windmill) 4. Weapon- I don't think that this is very important to me, because I am mostly a magic user. But when you are forced to be in a melee battle, having the STRONGEST weapon is always not going to help. Having the fastest weapon is the most important part to me, becasue you are able to attack faster than your opponent. BUT the length of your weapon will also affect it.

NOW IS THE TIME THAT YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! THE TACTIC'S, SKILLS AND MOVES IN PVP!
coming soon.......
A guide to secondary skills
If your really not into combat then this is for you, it'll tell you about ways to make money without doing dungeon runs
First is cooking, you see way people selling food out there? By the way thats for fantasy life club ONLY
A good way to start cooking is by learning it, if you don't fight at all then don't spend AP into combat or magic skills, only production skills
Another one is tailoring, making basic clothings
Selling them, making some good money, but it also costs A LOT OF GOLD to buy equipment!
Blacksmithing and refining, probably the best skill to use right? Yes, but it takes a lot pf patience just to get to rank F in refining, seriously, I never made a single INGOT!!!
But when your done it pays off right? Free armor, get good enough and your making 2H swords!!!
The best thing to do when your in secondary things is to have a part-time job or many more that you do EVERY DAY
And this ends yet another, oh wait
Fishing! Almost forgot about it. To do this go to any water, use the skill (With a rod in hand) and cast where it puts a circle under the arrow. The best is to manually fish, click and hold and pull the fish and keep it in the sqaure
NOW this ends it! Enjoy making gold!
Mabinogi Combat System & Skills
While at many times the battling portion may seem overwhelming, and you may die a lot, Let me say this. This happens to just about everyone when they first start. Some players learn faster then others, and others just plain don’t get how the combat system works. While, yes, even I die every now and again, if you can learn the basics of combat, you won’t die as much.
I. Introduction
To begin, let me explain the simplistic system they have set up. The combat works similar to a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, with a couple more options to choose from. Here’s a sample image of the skills and how they respond to the other skills. This diagram will only include the basic skills, not any ranged or magic.
Let me now explain each skill.
A. Smash Attack When using Smash, you will always run, there’s no way around it. This is a slow to activate skill, though you will find it useful in cases were you opponent is defending themselves. You can learn this by completing the beginner quest “Rescue Village Resident” given to you by Trefor. B. Defense Skill This skill you are force to walk during. While you will still receive damage, you will not be knocked back. However, a Smash attack will greatly damage you and still send you flying with defense activated. This skill is learned by talking to Ranald in the Tir Chornaill School. C. Regular Attack This is not actually a skill, but your default attack. Its power is based off the weapon you hold, and with deliver 3- or 2-hit combos dependant on the type of weapon. D. Counter Attack This last skill with render you unable to move. While still in this position your stamina will still decrease at a decent pace. You do not choose which monster this is activated upon, as whichever monster attacks you first will become the victim to this attack. You learn this skill by completing “Malcom’s Ring” or hit by a monsters by Counter Attack

II. In Practice
So, now you know what these skills do and how to counter them. Now can you use them while in combat? The beginner’s trick up their sleeve is the skill known as Sharp Mind. While you should not rank it extremely high, it does prove useful while beginning to learn how to read your enemies. Have you noticed when you use a skill a little thought bubble appears above your head? Well, with Sharp Mind, your enemies will as well. Skills you do not know will show up as a “?” Icon. Let’s take a look at an example, shall we?
In this situation, my character, Kisemi (the Bear Slayer at 10) is fighting a Fox. Now the fox has seen her and a little red “!” has appeared over its head. At this point, you are recognized as a threat, but the monster is trying to figure out what it wants to do. Suddenly, it starts circling around Kisemi.
Now, of course Kisemi executes a Smash attack, and sends the fox flying. Of course, that won’t always kill the monster, but with higher strength and stronger skills, it will be much easier to knock out a monster with the single hit.
Instead, what if the monster charges at you? Well, if there’s a thought bubble, normally it will be a smash attack. If there’s not a thought bubble, the monster is most likely using a regular attack. This can be returned via Counter Attack or by pulling up Defense. It is always worth it to try and see which you prefer, Counter will not always save your life. Practice using skills on lower level monsters to get the hang of it.
III. Adding new Elements
Not every monster is a Melee monster. Some are archers and others are even magic-based. Each type of combat has different skills that don’t automatically fit into the rock-paper-scissors theory. There’s also more to Melee then just those basic skills.
A. Melee Additional Skills There’s only one other skill of importance in the Melee category, and that is Windmill. Once you learn how to use it and when to use it, you will find it extremely useful. In this attack, you will drop down to the ground, and spin your legs into the enemy’s heads and knock them all over. Sometimes it even looks like you’re break dancing! You can gain this skill by talking to Ranald about skills and completing the quest he gives you. B. Ranged Attacks As of this moment, NA Mabinogi does not have the full array of ranged attack skills. The most commonly used are Ranged Attack, and Magnum Shot. Those who decide to become archers will become quite acquainted with these skills. All ranged skills require a Bow or Crossbow as well as a quiver of arrows (bow) or a stack of Bolts (crossbow). When you run out of arrows, you can no longer attack with these skills. Also, ranged skills have the change to do wound the enemy. ~Ranged Attack fits closely to the Regular attack definition. This will be the default attach when using a bow or crossbow. When using this skill you can be a distance away from the monster. The skill will pull up quickly, however, a percentage will show above the thought bubble (This percentage only shows when you are using the skill, not your enemies). The higher the percent, the higher the accuracy. However, sometimes even at 99% your character can miss. As a note, you can never achieve 100%. So don’t keep waiting for it. To deal with a Ranged attack, rush into the monster and hit it with any kind of attack, and they will stop aiming. You obtain this by equipping a bow. ~Magnum Shot is seriously one of the best ways to start off a combat sequence with a monster. This fits in closely to the Smash attack, though not exactly. A defense can still protect against it, but it proves a nice jump start to a fight. This attack greatly injures the target and sends them sliding across the floor if not flying through the air. It can cause massive damage, so you don’t want to be on the receiving end. You obtain this skill by talking to Duncan with the “Magnum Shot” keyword. C. Magic Skills Magic can be one of the most useful things to keep as a backup plan. Plus, magic tends to pack a punch when fully charged up. Magic requires Mana, which will always regenerate over time, however it regenerates faster during the night time, when Erinn’s moon Eweca is in sight. I will only explain the basic magic, and only the offensive magic, as you will not need to figure out when to use Healing spells (Though, as a suggestion, use them after finishing a battle) ~Icebolt is a simple attack, though most will not learn it first. This skill can be charged to hold 5 bolts of ice. When used, the monster will be stunned for a short time and will move back slightly. This is useful when fighting a monster coming towards you as it will stop the from moving. You can obtain this skill by buying the Magic book, Taking Lassar’s first magic class, or by finishing a quest. ~Firebolt is a stronger magic spell, and mages are suggested to learn this first. You charge it up by adding to a single fire. You can only charge it 5 times, as with every magic spell. This skill packs a punch and in a single shot. ~Lightingbolt is one of the most annoying spells known. When monsters hold it, you can be sent straight to deadly if you’re not careful. It will hit multiple enemies around the target, so be careful not to agro any other monsters that you do not want mobbing you. You can, again, charge up to 5 times.

IV. Putting it All Together
Now that you know the skills you will come up against or use commonly, it’s time to figure out how and when you need to use these skills. While you can read the thought bubbles, it does prove useful to just know what’s being used without thinking about it. Of course, the common reason to attack is “Hit before they do!” and that is the basics of it all. You want to hit before your opponent does. Let’s try to see if you can tell what the monster’s using without a word bubble. We’ll go back to Kisemi and the fox. Now, here’s the picture, can you tell what the monster is using?
If you’re not sure, look at how the monster is posed. It’s running, so what does that mean it’s using? If you guessed Regular Attack you’re correct. While it is running can also mean Smash attack, this monster did not decide to use it. As you can see in this next picture, Kisemi was able to respond quick enough (While still taking the screencaps) to pull up another regular attack to protect herself.
V. Conclusion
While everything takes practice and trial and error, you can easily learn to read your opponent (And those nifty thought bubbles), and quickly learn how to react. While you may not know the exact reason you use Skill A instead of Skill B, at least you beat the creature, right? You’ll develop your own strategies and your own playing style through time. And with different party members and playing styles you could even become a high-ranked player! (Well, below me, of course. ;) )

Part-Time Jobs: Everything You Need to Know and More By Cosmic [Ruairi Channel 4] Introduction: A part-time job is a task given out by an NPC(Non-Player Character) upon request. Part-timing is often considered an alternative to combat when a person wants to earn experience or money, without the risk of death, consumption of potions, phoenix feathers, bandages, or combative equipment to worry about, especially for a person who has been less inclined to raise combat skills. A person is rewarded with the choice of one or a combination of two of the following: experience, gold, potions, equipment, or other useful items for reporting, prior to the part-time job's Deadline, to the NPC that assigned a specific task. Part-time job rewards vary between each NPC and each NPC's tasks.
A person may work on only one part-time job at a time, but is able to complete any number of part-time jobs in one day, however, an additional task cannot be done for the same NPC in the same in-game day, nor can they be done for another NPC that shares the same category of part-time job( e.g. if a person has done the Healer's House Part-Time for Manus in Dunbarton earlier in an in-game day, that person cannot do the Healer's House Part-Time for Dilys in Tir Chonail). As a person completes more and more tasks for an NPC, the NPC's affection level will increase and new tasks will be available for the person, although not every NPC will have upper level tasks.
Beginner level tasks are available for a person who has done 0 to 50 successful part-times for an NPC. Middle level tasks are available to a person who has done 51 to 100 successful part-times for an NPC. High level tasks are available to a person who has done over 101 successful part-times for an NPC. On Baltane day in Erinn, or Tuesday in real time, people may enjoy the added benefit of a bonus to all part-time general rewards. If all the part-time jobs have been taken by other people or there is a task not to a person's tastes, changing channels may be a remedy for these situations. Types of Part-Time Jobs: Gathering: This includes gathering an indicated amount of berries, barley, wheat, eggs, apples, milk(empty bottles are provided by the NPC), wool, firewood, or ore and giving it to the NPC. Sickles, weeding hoes, pickaxes, hatchets, or shearing blades are not provided by the NPC and is the responsibility of a person to possess. Materials may be gathered beforehand, prior to a person receiving a gathering task from an NPC, in order to save time and effort. Production: Such as weaving tasks(leathers or yarns are provided by the NPC), tailoring tasks(sewing patterns, fabrics, and silks are provided by the NPC), making a sack of barley or flour(a person must harvest their own barley or wheat with their own sickle), or refining ore(ore must be mined with a person's own pickaxe). Delivery: Deliveries typically involve either the NPC giving the person an item that they take and give to another NPC by talking to the NPC and then report back, the NPC giving two items to the person and having the person deliver the first item to the first NPC and the second item to the second NPC before reporting back, or having the person receive and item from another NPC then delivering that item to a different NPC before reporting back. Extermination: Involves hunting monsters like goblins or imps. These are currently tasks exclusive to Comgan in Bangor. How to Obtain Part-Time Jobs and Rewards: After clicking on an NPC and starting a conversation, click on the "Part-Time Jobs" keyword in the Travel Diary window during job hours(a time between the start time and deadline) to request a task, as can be seen below:
Windows will appear that display information about an NPCs part-time jobs:
In reference to the above image:
1) Describes the type of task offered for that in-game day. The picture is a delivery request in this event. 2) Shows how many jobs are available and remaining for the NPC. It is important that a person keep in mind that an NPC will have only a finite amount of part-time jobs available and will not assign any tasks to people if all the part-time jobs have been taken for that day(an in-game day, which is roughly 36 minutes in real time). In this case there are 3 people max who may receive a task and three openings still available for people to fill.
3) This tells how much time is remaining before the Deadline. The Deadline never changes no matter how late or how early one begins the task; therefore it is important for one to make sure there is enough time remaining to complete a task. In this scenario, the current time is 4:00PM and the Deadline is 8:00PM, leaving the person 4 in-game hours to complete the task. 4) Displays the first general reward in the box. Clicking on “See All Rewards” will display all the general rewards and rewards available upon completion as some may not be visible in the left window. 5) Provides details about the exact nature of the task. This example is a delivery involving the person receiving the hammer from Nerys and taking it to Stewart before reporting back to Aeira. 6) Items underneath this heading are general rewards. General rewards are rewards that may be offered to a person even if they do not complete the NPC’s task entirely, though they will be reduced rewards depending on the percentage of work completed. At least 20% of the task must be completed in order to receive a reward. Reporting to an NPC with less than 20% completion of the task will result in failure and no rewards. 7) These types of rewards are only available to a person who has completed the task entirely, that is to say 100%. These types of rewards are usually comprised of at least one non-stackable item. If the person has reported to the NPC and has completed less than 100% of the task, then not all choices of rewards will be available to the person.
Signs near an NPC that offers a part-time job may be found. Placing the cursor over such a sign will reveal the Starting Time for that NPC’s part-time jobs, as can be see with the following sign for Aeira’s bookstore:
If a person does not have enough space to receive items from an NPC employer, then a Temporary Inventory Window will appear and the person is given 5 minutes to make space or rearrange actual inventory before the temporary inventory items are dropped to the ground automatically. Items in the Temporary Inventory Window may be dragged into the person’s inventory. The subsequent shows a lack of space to receive 2 empty bottles for a milk gathering task:
A person will receive the part-time job information for a task in the Quest Window if the person has accepted the task:
While a person is working at a part-time job, a temporary title is given to indicate the institution they are working for, as seen as below. Each title has its own unique bonuses and cannot be changed to another title during the job. When the part-time job is over the title the person was wearing prior to the part-time job will be put into effect once again.
In the top right portion of the screen, words appear that indicate the part-time job a person is working for and the remaining time until the deadline in in-game time, as seen in a Ferghus’s Blacksmith Part-Time Job:
If a person were to place the cursor over the Clock Window during a part-time job, the Report Time and Deadline can be seen for the current task as a useful reminder, as seen highlighted below:
To receive rewards or as a way to end a task involves a person talking to the NPC that has given a task while the current time is between the Report Time and Deadline, the Report Now and Report Later options will appear, as seen below. Clicking on Report Later will resume the task taken by the player. Clicking on Report Now results in either the rewards window to appear if the player has completed 20% or more of the task, or a cancellation of the task if the person has completed less than 20% of the task.
Highlighted in the following frame is the Part-time Job Training Level in the rewards window for a job that was 100% completed. One star indicates that 20% of the job has been completed at the time of reporting to the NPC, therefore this person has 5 stars because they completed the task entirely.
Below is an example of a person reporting to an NPC with only 3/10 berries they were assigned to gather. In addition to the general rewards being reduced, two choices are unavailable and are shown in gray because the person had not completed the task entirely. It is also important to note that even though the person completed 30% of the part-time job, only one star appears in the Part-time Job Training Level, revealing that 30% is not rounded up to 2 stars:
A person selecting “Give Up” from the Part-time Job Information in the Quest Window, talking to the NPC being part-timed for with less than 20% completion, or failing to report to the NPC before the Deadline will result in the following message to appear in the center of the person’s screen:
In the Character Information Window in the Part-Time Job tab, the Part-time Job in progress and the numbers of all accepted jobs from all known types of different part-time jobs are catalogued with a percentage of a success and may be seen, as in the last example:
Part-Time Job NPCs, Tasks, and Hours:
It is crucial to remember that an NPC will not accept a completed or incomplete task until the Report Time or some time between the Report Time and Deadline, nor can a person receive a task until the Starting Time occurs.

EDIT: Was it always by April 30th and I misread it as March 30th or was the time actually changed?
So confused.
Edit: This guide has been removed due a newer version being updated.
Minor typos will be fixed, color contrast will change, and an additional section will be added on.
This is revision three of the FAQ written specifically for this contest, from scratch by me.
This is the final version for the data, I think.
A final revision for reformatting and images will be posted up later this week. I will also correct any errors I find.
Items: A Thorough Look
Hi. I'm Tolinar. Mabinogi is a world with a vast array of things to own. Let's look at some of them.
ITEM BASICSAn ITEM is an object that can be picked up and held in the inventory. Items come in a few flavors.
You can see items on the ground by holding ALT, and the items in your inventory by pressing I. Items can be equipped, traded, given away, dropped on the ground, gifted to NPCs or even burned in a fire just by dragging the item where you want it to go. If you accidentally drop an item, or something you KO drops one, don't worry about someone else grabbing your item right away. Loot Guard prevents anyone from taking the item for a few seconds, so you have time to go get it yourself. But new Erinn anti-litter laws are in place, meaning any item left on the ground for an extended time will be erased!
-- TYPES OF ITEMS --
EQUIPMENTS are items that can be applied to a character's equipment slots. There are several types of equipment.
USABLE ITEMS can be used from the inventory for an effect. There are subcategories of usable items, too.
SUPPLIES can be gathered for crafting and making other items. They can be very useful.
SKILL ITEMS are designed for use with a skill. Without that skill, the item is not very useful.
QUEST ITEMS should be collected to make progress on a quest. A common example is the Fomor Scroll.
GIFT ITEMS should be given to an NPC to improve your favor with them.
MISCELLANEOUS items may be of use... I wonder how?
CASH SHOP items are items you will need cash shop service to make use of.
About Equipments
The HEAD, LEFT and RIGHT HANDS, GLOVES, BODY, FEET, ACCESSORY and CAPE can all be equipped with one ITEM.
In addition, you can equip a second set of items for the LEFT and RIGHT hands. You can switch between this alternate set by pressing W or using the "I / II" switches on the inventory page, above the hand slots.
Some items will fill both Hand Slots. These items are said to be 2-HANDED And some will fill both hands, but can still allow you to hold certain types of items in your off hand. These are LOADABLE items. They include bows and instruments.
Most equipment has DURABILITY. When the equipment DURABILITY wears down to 0, it's useless and it needs to be repaired or sold, or burned.
Most equipment has proficiency, and can be UPGRADED. To upgrade an equipment, you must raise the proficiency. Then spend the proficiency, along with some gold, and an expert will make an item better! Who is the expert to improve your equipment, you ask? Think about who sold you the item, and who probably knows that item the very best.
If you are using an equipment and you are knocked out, you may end up DROPPING IT. But don't worry, no one can take it. Getting it back is just a matter of picking it up... but if the area is swarming with trouble, that can be easier said than done. A Town Hall should be able to give you your item back, but expect to pay for it. It can be pretty expensive. Also, those lost and founds can hold an item forever, but can only hold 20... so don't leave it to rot forever.
EQUIPMENT TYPE: WEAPONS
WEAPONS are items designed to hurt the enemy. You can use weapons to improve your damage or change your style of attack.
Every weapon has several principle values. Balance, Minimum and Maximum Damage, added chance to critical, and added chance to wound are some common things on weapons. Weapons can be enchanted by an enchantment scroll, this will cause even more effects to be added to your character when you are holding the weapon. Enchantments vary greatly, so see what you can find.
If you are looking for a good weapon, check with a blacksmith. Remember to examine the Damage Range - the difference between minimum and maximum damages. Consider the price range, and whether the weapon suits your play style. Here's some info on notable weapons.
Daggers are great for getting the drop on enemies, they are quick weapons, but can lack damage. They are good as a secondary weapon for a player who uses, say a Bow or Magic. In a pinch you can switch to your dagger and rush the foe, and since a dagger is such a quick weapon, you will be more likely to hit first! You will also land a lot of Critical Hits with a dagger. If you focus on the "Critical Hit" skill, a dagger can be a lethal tool. Otherwise, you should probably rely on another weapon to do the bulk of your damage.
The Longsword is a slow weapon, but it still swings three times. Its damage is pretty good. This can be handy if you are used to hitting three times. You can use the pace of your hits to hold the enemy back, and get the extra damage.
The Two-Handed Sword is really.slow and it only hits twice, but it's a very powerful weapon. If you have spare money, you should consider one of these. It's probably the strongest weapon for pure damage in the game at this time, though people whisper of more powerful weapons on the way...
Bows are a whole 'nother class of weapon. They hit at a distance... but they might miss, too. Short bows are good, but they break quickly, and a Composite bow is considered a slower, but more damaging, type of bow.
Shields are special types of weapons. To use a shield, you must equip a 1-handed weapon. Then you can hold a shield in the off hand. Shields help with blocking arrows, making that dangerous type of foe less difficult, especially if you use the Defense skill. They will increase your overall defense and make you harder to knock down and hold back. If you have a free hand, you might consider a cheap one, or you could get a more expensive shield! Some tools can even be used as a shield... Though, this can be a waste if they get broken, and they aren't really as good for blocking.
Some tools and miscellaneous items can also be used as weapons. They may not be very effective, though.
There is a distant rumor that weapons can hold powerful spirits, called EGO spirits. Not much is known about this yet, but if you speak to the Ego Spirit in your starter sword, Eiry, she might be able to tell you a little bit.
EQUIPMENT TYPE: TOOLS
TOOLS are items for your HANDS, specifically designed for a certain task. Various tasks and skills need a certain something to get it done right. In some cases a substitute could be used (You might shear a sheep with your sword... if you really HAD to... but it would get dull!) Usually you will want to have the right tool for the job. Tools can be bought at a variety of places...
A shearing dagger is a good idea for shearing sheep. Check with a blacksmith or a shepard to get one.
You'll need an Axe to cut wood, and a Gathering Axe works best. Any good blacksmith should have one.
To harvest wheat, grain, and other tall growing plants, you need a Sickle. Check with a blacksmith.
To gather a low-growing plant like a potato, you need a Weeding Hoe. The blacksmith may have it.
To milk a cow or get water from a water-source, you need an Empty Jar. Try checking a big-city variety store for one!
To use the Tailoring skill, you must have a Tailoring Kit. Try talking to a tailor or maybe an innkeeper (they tend to do a lot of sewing) A Tailoring Kit is LOADABLE, and you will need to load a BLUEPRINT for the item you want to make. Without a blueprint, you have no project to start!
To use the Potionmaking skill, will require a Potionmaking Kit, and you should check with a healer to get one of those.
To use the Play Instrument Skill, you must have an instrument. Any instrument will do, the skill works equally well with any instrument you can find. Instruments are LOADABLE with a music scroll, and you'll play the song written on it, but if you don't have a scroll, you will play whatever song is in your heart at the moment! Poetic, huh?
To use the Cooking skill, you must have one-or-more SPECIFIC tools for the recipe you want to make! You may need a cooking table, a chef's knife, a dough rolling pin, a pot, or more!
To use the Blacksmithing skill, you will need a Blacksmith's hammer. You also must be standing at a Blacksmith's Forge that is working. A Blacksmith hammer is LOADABLE and you will need a BLUEPRINT for the item you want to make. Without the blueprint, you don't have a project to make!
To spin Silk thread, you must have specially oiled Weaving gloves. They can't be repaired and wear out quickly. It's a very special tool that goes on your GLOVE slot, instead of held in the hand.
As the game progresses and new and exciting skills and tasks appear, expect there to be new tools to accompany them!
EQUIPMENT TYPE: ARMORS and CLOTHING
Ah, the old question: Fashion or defense?
Tailored cloth tends to be somewhat giving, although it can look really stylish. However, a finely hammered piece of armor will be drab and metallic, but it might save your life.
The choice of which you prefer is yours. Cloth or armor can be applied to nearly every other slot on the character. Cloth comes in a wide variety of colors. That variety gets even bigger on Mondays! If you are looking for something colorful, remember the shops will carry new goods starting at midnight.
The two good qualities of armor are: It will keep you alive in some fights, and it wears out slowly. And it can also make you look tough. Yeah, that's three good qualities. Armor can be very expensive, but wearing a lot of armor may significantly reduce the damage you take, especially if you upgrade it.
About upgrades - once you upgrade an armor or clothing, it has been fitted custom for you, and you won't be able to trade it any more! Upgrade items you plan to keep a long, long time and keep them in good repair!
Expensive clothing and armor is a status symbol. Who can't help but stare at the dazzling chromatic metal and the rich, bold patterns and colors? Plus, it can be enchanted. A suit of enchanted clothing can seriously help your game!
EQUIPMENT: ACCESSORIES?
Accessories are given to you by Nao if you purchase the Nao's Support package, on a weekly basis.
About Usable Items
If you right-click some items, the word "USE" appears on the list! Usable items, how wonderful and useful. What are they good for? Well, you've got your FOOD, your POTIONS, your SCROLLS and BOOKS, and your ETC. ITEMS.
USABLE ITEMS: FOOD
Eating is important in Mabinogi! You are given some bread early on. When you notice your stamina bar going totally black at one end, don't ignore it! You're hungry, and the best remedy is to eat! When you are hungry, your Stamina recovers slowly, and you will get tired easily. This is bad for work-day life and in combat as well.
You are given some loaves of bread by Nao when you start the game, but you don't need to eat them right away. Eating when you are full is a waste and you'll just get FAT. You can tell if you're hungry if part of your stamina meter is totally black. If half your meter is blackened, you are STARVING - eat soon! CTRL+K will eat a piece of food from your inventory, if you have one.
Eating can be good for you too. Eating well-cooked food can apply stat bonuses to your character for a time! And if the food's ... really, really good... well... you might be in for a surprise.
But even boring food is good for your body! The diet you choose to eat will improve certain stats over time. Just keep eating when you're hungry and eventually you will notice both your body shape changing, and your stats slowly growing! Awesome! These changes happen faster when you are young, so newbies should watch their diet carefully, or you'll end up like Lorna did that one time!
If you're hungry and you want a good meal, but can't afford to eat at a restaurant, you might try hitting bushes or trees and see if you can find BERRIES. They not only slim you down, but they raise a lot of stats! Your DEX and INT will improve. You might also try to get an EGG from a chicken, but these can make you kind-of fat, and if you get roughed around they could break. With a Weeding Hoe you can get POTATOES. Monsters may drop food when you defeat them - don't rats like CHEESE? And if you keep a sharp eye on nearby trees, maybe you can spot APPLES.
Of course, if your friend is offering you a fine Fruit Salad and you need a meal, you would be silly to refuse! Even a Cheese Bread is better than going hungry, and these foods can raise your stats permanently too! If you never want to go hungry again, master the COOKING skill or get to know some skilled chefs!
Just be careful not to get fat!
USABLE ITEMS: POTIONS
Let's face it. A life of combat is rough. You will be battered, exhausted, downright spent at the end of the day.
And sometimes, you'll feel like that, right in the middle of it. What to do?
Potions can instantly recover your worn-down stats. Drinking a potion will recover your HP, MP, or STAMINA. Type 'H' at any time to drink a HP Potion. 'J' will put back an MP potion. And 'K' will drink a stamina potion!
Potions come in varying strengths. There's 10, 30, and 50 recovery potions. You can even make stronger potions if you're talented at potion making. The potion making skill uses herbs to make potions, by using a potion making kit. Those herbs can be found all around some dungeons.
Although the boost from a potion is a great way to get the edge in a fight, you should be cautious of overusing them! Potion sickness will strongly reduce your stats, and make you pathetic in combat! If you get potion-sick, you'll have no choice but to wait for the effects to wear off or visit a physician, so use with prudence!
USABLE ITEMS: SCROLLS AND BOOKS
Scrolls and books can be read... sort of.
Some scrolls are inscribed with music. If you can read Mabinogi-music, you might read a scroll to see what it says. (hmm. I wonder if anyone could ever really understand a song just by reading the MML.)
Other scrolls are inscribed with MAGIC. These are enchantment scrolls. Right-clicking them and selecting "USE" will attempt to apply them to an equipment of your choice. It might succeed... giving your equip a powerful magic. Or it might fail... and seriously damage the equipment, destroying itself in the process. If you know the enchanting skill and you have some Magic Powder, you might be able to preserve an enchantment scroll even through a failure, but you can bet that equipment you want to enchant will still get ripped up if you make a mistake. So it's better to try to enchant something early. Nothing is as sad as breaking a weapon you're really familiar with, just because you messed up an enchantment.
Reading BOOKS can be especially beneficial! By reading, you can advance your skills or learn new ones. Reading can also reveal some secrets of the game, or make you more familiar with parts of the game world. If you try to read a book and it says something like "The page you are trying to visit cannot be found" - then that book hasn't been written yet. Just wait a litlte bit and try again later to read it =P Some books can even raise your stats! To get a benefit from a book, try to do Advanced Reading. If you succeed, your character will advance!
FOMOR SCROLLS are actually QUEST ITEMS. They are scrolls poisoned with Dark Magic, used to control the wild creatures and beings that become the evil followers of Fomor. You can't read them, and even if you could, you wouldn't want to. They are NOT usable.
USABLE ITEMS: ETC. ITEMS
There are a few other general usable items! They may be odd, but they can be really useful! Don't neglect them!
Phoenix Feathers revive downed teammates and other players. Use the feather, then click on the dead player with the feather above his head (who is waiting to be brought back to life) When you use a Phoenix Feather, two good things happen: 1 - The person you revive doesn't lose any experience at all, and 2 - You GAIN experience! You can level up by reviving fallen players! The stronger the player you save, the more EXP you will get. Teamwork FTW.
Holy Water is handy for preserving good items. Since all equipment loses durability, Holy Water can be invaluable. Holy Water will make your gear Blessed, so the durability lasts longer! Also note, the equipment will also not be dropped should you fall in battle. This can prevent costly losses. But you generally can't buy holy water from any store. What to do? You might try working part-time for a church!
Wings can take you back to the last town you just visited. Please note, they do not take you to any one specific town... but the town you visited last. Wings do NOT record a specific town! Please avoid this common newbie mistake! If you buy a wing in Tir Chonail, and you go into Dun Barton to do some things, and then try to wing back to Tir Chonail... you will waste your wing and won't go anywhere -- because your wing changed to Dun Barton the moment you stepped into the town! Use Wings to return to town quickly when the field or dungeon is playing a bit too roughly - discretion is the better part of valor - or when you are loaded up with goods, or finished doing what you were doing.
Rumors spread of Elemental materials that might make your weapon take on a new elemental attribute. Can you find it?
Who knows what other usable items you might stumble upon in Mabinogi? The game is seemingly without limits! When all else fails, try reading the item description to figure out how it's used.
About Supplies
Who knows how you might stumble across these. Perhaps a few cobwebs strewn on the ground... A goblin drops a piece of leather... an herb in a treasure chest. What are they? Are they all just junk? No...
They are SUPPLIES for crafting!
Supplies break down into specific skill categories: Weaving, Tailoring, Refining, Blacksmithing, Cooking, Enchanting, Potion Making.
SUPPLIES: WEAVING
Raw Weaving supplies include Cobwebs, Leather, and Wool.
Complex Weaving supplies include Fine Silk Thread and Coarse wool thread.
Cobwebs are gathered from spiders. Watch some spiders, and keep your distance, if a spider is alerted to you he won't make cobwebs. White ones are easily distracted and other spiders may attack you... Once the spider has spun some cobwebs, run up and grab them, then try to get away without being noticed. Cobwebs can be spun into fine silk thread, a complex weaving supply.
Wool can be sheared from sheeps. As long as the sheep doesn't move, wool gathering is 100% successful. You just need an edge to do it with, and a shearing dagger is best. Wool spins down into Coarse wool thread, a weaving supply.
Leather must be cut, with a blade. Leather can be gathered from goblins and other monsters. Try Ciar Dungeon if you need leather - Ciar Beginner if you are just starting. Leather can be cut into Leather Straps, a Tailoring and Blacksmithing supply.
Fine Silk thread is obtained by weaving. You need special gloves to spin the silk, an unusual tool. This can be spun into varying qualities of silk fabric, a tailoring supply.
Coarse thread is obtained by weaving. You can make various grades of cloth, a tailoring supply.
Braids can also be weaved, They are a blacksmithing and tailoring supply.
SUPPLIES: TAILORING
Tailoring requires various amounts of Silk and Cloth, as well as various qualities. You can get these through weaving.
In addition, finishing threads are a Tailoring supply that put the finishing touches on an item.
More complex patterns may have surprising needs.
SUPPLIES: REFINING
Raw ore is the stuff of Refining. Copper, Steel, Silver and Gold.
These ores are smelted down into Ingots, and plates, the core supply for Blacksmithing.
SUPPLIES: BLACKSMITHING
Blacksmithing uses the plates and ingots from refining. The finishing items really vary, from firewood for handles to weaving and tailoring supplies for hilts and cloth parts, and any number of other elements.
SUPPLIES: COOKING
Cooking uses a number of supplies like salt, pepper, oil, flour, and other things that can't be eaten raw, but you can get at a grocery store and you can cook good things with. What specific items do you need? Well, maybe you should find a recipe! I've even heard you may have to cook an ingredient up, then use that ingredient to make a better dish!
SUPPLIES: ENCHANTING
Enchanting uses the Magic Powders that you occasionally find. That is the main supply, as well as Enchantment Scrolls.
SUPPLIES: POTION MAKING
Various types of Herbs are used by Potion Making, as well as Base Potion. Base Potion is available at most healers' houses, but you will need Herbs to brew up anything really good.
SKILL ITEMS
Some skills, mundane or amazing, need an item to be used. It seems like the material exists, just to be used for the skill.. they go hand in hand, don't they?
To make a fire using the Campfire skill, you'll need Firewood. Try using a gathering Axe on a tree.
To use first aid, you're going to need Bandages. The skill can remove wounds. You can buy them from a healer's house... but maybe there is another way to make Bandages, if you search long and hard.
To use the Compose skill and write a piece of music for an instrument, you need a Music Scroll. Check at a general store.
To use Ranged attacks, you'll need Arrows. Try a blacksmith.
Simple!
About Quest Items
Quest items come in a few different types. Some are QUEST SCROLLS, some are COLLECTION items, others are KEY items, and a few are PASS items.
QUEST ITEMS: QUEST SCROLLS
These items can be bought from various merchants. Every quest scroll has a mission. Simply having the scroll is enough for collection scrolls. If you are using a Party scroll, you must set it to be the current Party Quest. It's easily done through the Party Menu. When the quest is complete, use the Quest Screen to cash it in, just like any other quest. The scroll will vanish, and you get your reward. Fabulous! Some quests have a time limit, so be aware.
QUEST ITEMS: COLLECTION ITEMS
Various items can be collected up and turned in for quest rewards!
Fomor scrolls are the most common type of collection item. Kill the monsters, get the scrolls, turn them in. Way to cleanse the world of evil! You must find an NPC selling a Quest Scroll for the particular type of Fomor Scroll you have collected. You need a bunch of a single type - a little of everything won't do at all.
Gems of varying sizes and colors can be turned in from a Quest scroll. What else could they be used for? I wonder.
Nails might be useful for Part-Time jobs, if you should find some.
QUEST ITEMS: KEY ITEMS
You might find this at the end of a dungeon, in a chest.Or maybe an NPC has it. There's really only one thing to do with it - the story makes it so obvious what it is used for! The effort, the item, and the completion. Oh, yes. It's so familiar. Many part-time jobs will have you ferrying Key Items around. Lots of Quest dungeons will end with a Key Item.
QUEST ITEMS: PASS ITEMS
Pass items are one of the coolest type of Quest item. Used on the correct dungeon altar, you gain access to a special place. You might get a quest Pass from an NPC. This will let you into a special dungeon. These tend to have more money, and be better places to play in - but you usually just get to go once! You can also get beginner passes to make a dungeon easier. Ask Trefor for Beginner passes to Alby. Ranald will have Beginner passes to Ciar. But these aren't the only type of Pass you can find! Be wary, though. With the exception of the Beginner pass, the Passes represent a challenge. Even if the pass says "Basic Fomor Pass" - that's still a special challenge, a dungeon riddled with evil! I recommend; Don't go alone into a Special Pass dungeon. Share your good luck and the challenge with friends or other players! This will not only spread happiness, but it might make it easier to survive a very tough situation. Definitely, don't just wander in because you got the pass from some spider! Pass dungeons can be fun, but they can also be really hard! Challenge passes expire after a few hours, so muster the stout and make an attempt while time remains!
GIFT ITEMS
Certain items have a gift box symbol in the corner.
These represent Gift Items that should be given to an NPC. Any item can be given to an NPC; simply drag the item over to the NPC and voila! Gift items can't be used for much else, and giving the right type of item can really improve relations with that NPC.
So, what to give? Well, talking to the person my give some clues. Of course, common sense helps. And every character has secret likes as well! Maybe you can find out with a little trial and error if all else fails.
An example of using a Gift item effectively: Aeira, the Bookstore owner in Dun Barton, seems to have a valuable book that she doesn't need... it's MUSIC THEORY and it would cost 80,000 if you bought one. So making friends with her, and getting it for free is a VERY GOOD idea.
She says she likes poetry books. There's one option. And she also is always getting Cubic puzzles from her dad, and pieces of cake from Glenis. Plus, what pretty girl wouldn't like a bouquet of flowers! These are all good gifts to give to Aeira.
Talk to her after each gift about private stories. After 7 or 8 gifts, ask about skills, and remember to say thank you!
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
Sometimes in Mabinogi you will find something that doesn't make any sense.
A dried up fish bone... what is it? Maybe someone failed really badly at cooking. Can you eat it? You probably shouldn't. What use can a broken egg be, anyway?
A giant potato, golden apple, or golden egg - my, how lucky. But should you eat it, or sell it? Or what?
But part of the great fun of Mabinogi is figuring out the puzzle! What is this fantastic item? How is it used? Is an NPC looking for it? Or did a player drop it because they didn't want it? This list sure isn't exhaustive, by any means! An apple is an apple - unless it's an orange? As new worlds open up, new items will come with them in every shape and size.
About Cash Shop Items
In addition to conventional items, some items can only be had by trading with players or using Cash Shop. Cash Shop uses NX, which you can get either by charging NX or getting an NX card at various stores.

There are also some miscellaneous cash shop items that will be listed.
CASH SHOP: NAO'S GIFTS
You will recieve this if you purchase Nao's Support Service. Every week, on the day your character was born, Nao will have a birthday gift for you - an accessory. When your character's Age is 20, she will have an extra-special gift as a congratulations!

Instead, you see the number of B-Bombs remaining on the status screen. This powerful trick knocks all monsters down. Use it to regain control of a rough situation! You get three of these B-Bombs per real-life day.
CASH SHOP: ITEM STORAGE SERVICE

If you can't find anything you like in time, you can cancel before time is up to keep the old look, but you still use up your Dye.
WEDNESDAY: Recovery Booster x1
This item drastically increases your recovery! Wounds will sew themselves shut before your very eyes, and your HP, MP, and Stamina will recover at several times the normal rate for a while. Use a campfire with it, and recover almost instantly!
THURSDAY: Party Phoenix Feather x2
Recover from disaster! The Phoenix Feather will revive a whole party (except you) What better way to take revenge on a Troll or Golem, than to all stand up at once and fight!
FRIDAY: Waxen WIng of Goddess x2
This is by far my favorite item. You can teleport to any town you have visited before! Finally, a way to jump from Bangor to Tir Chonail in one swoop.
SATURDAY: Skill Reset Capsule x1
Did you make a mistake in your character? Or decide to study something new? The Skill Reset Capsule can give you back the AP from advancing a skill, so you can spend it on something else you want more! The capsule can lower a skill by 1 rank, down to Rank F, but it cannot completely erase a skill, so keep that in mind.
SUNDAY: Camp Kit x1
Camp Kits are handy! Just unroll and you have a home-base for recovery, privacy and respawning. Especially good for wilderness hunting. The tent can't be moved once you put it up. If you log off or change channels it will vanish. Everyone in the tent will recieve a bonus to recovery, sitting or not. You can keep a tent up for as long as seven days. Tents can be passworded also.
RANDOM GRABS
If you decide you don't want the gift for a given day, you can take a random selection instead. You will be shown a screen with 12 items on it. Choose one. You might recieve the gift from any day (including the current day) or you MIGHT get a few gifts that you can only get by trying your luck! So in some ways it pays to see what happens!
The random grab exclusive gifts are:
Remote Coupons: For the Bank, the Healer, the Blacksmith, or the Tailor. Get your stuff repaired, buy more supplies, or access the bank in a heartbeat!
Advanced Phoenix Feather: This super-powerful feather lets you revive anyone in the world, just by typing in their name! Is someone crying that he died while trying to Solo Succubus? You can revive him on the spot so he can try again!
Tendering Potion: This valuable item makes it easier to train hard skills like Windmill or Combat Mastery. Monsters are increased in "Difficulty" category by one - Strong Monsters become Awful, Awful become Boss, etc. Your actual abilities are unaffected, so feel free to use it to enhance your training!
Campfire Kit: Make a huge Campfire without any wood or even the Campfire skill!
CASH SHOP: MISCELLANEOUS
In addition to the basic items, there are a few other things you can get using the cash shop.
Character Cards are not really items, but you can use them to birth or rebirth your character. You can choose between regular or premium.
If you DO rebirth your character, be SURE to talk to Tin as you are entering the game world. He will have a fixed-color Dye Amoule for you, that can make a strikingly colorful piece of equipment!
There is a rumor going around that Pets may soon be available... wonderful creatures and longtime companions, they may grow with you and experience the game world alongside you! Pets can not be purchased at this time, so stay tuned.
OTHER ITEM FACTS
Here's some item oddities.
Item colors come in a variety, even if you can't equip that item. Talk about sense of style; I wonder if anyone has a color-coordinated inventory!
Some books can be equipped. Fancy that. You're a scholar! It doesn't seem to do anything, but it does make you look smart!
Robes can be worn in the Cape Slot, and you can put the hood up or down.
Almost any item in the game can be BURNED for EXP, if you don't want it any more. You may not get much, but as your level rises, it increases your EXP gain from burning things.
AND WHAT ELSE...
oh yes, GOLD.
You can hold 1000 gold per slot in your inventory, or up to 10,000 or 50,000 in a 2x2 wallet item.
And what could you possibly use that gold for?
BUYING ALL THE OTHER ITEMS IN THIS GUIDE, of course!
Good luck with your fantasy life!

General Quests :
Let’s move on and learn more about combats!
Combat System :
Now, the picture above shows the relationship of each basic skills. As you can see, smash only work against enemy that is in defense mode. And regular attacks can win against smash because its faster. Counter attack will work on either smash and regular attacks. Defense will only work on regular attacks, and you’ll be able to hit the enemy right after. Windmill is a good skill, it works on counter, smash, and regular attacks. Notice the blue lines between skills? That’s the special relationship between them. If you use def while your enemy is at counter mode, nothing will happen. If you use defense on an enemy that is in windmill mode, you can walk up to it and block its windmill. HOWEVER, you won’t be able to attack it right after you block the windmill, and the enemy will have the chance to use another skill. Why? Because when you block your enemy’s windmill, you have to wait for their windmill skill to stop. During that time of waiting, they can either regular hit you, or use another skill with no delay.
Fighting against certain type of monsters:
Wolf : It is easy to fight them, as long you stay calm in your combos. After you do a regular attack on them, they’ll either use counter, defense, or smash, that’s why they’re the best enemy to practice on. When they use smash, they’ll run up to you, all you need to do is regular attack. If they use counter, use a range attack or wait for them to cancel. Once they’re in defense mode, its show time! Charge your smash and attack!
Goblins : They just like you, except they look as good as you’re. Goblins have smash, counter and defense. Use the same method as wolves to against them. When they use defense, don’t smash them. What happens is they going to cancel it really fast and regular attack you or use another skill.
Goblin Archers : One hated creature in Erinn by most people. They’re very annoying, they runs around and shot you with arrows. What you need to do is regular attack them, don’t let them have the chance to shot you with an arrow. When they’re knocked down, they’ll switch to bare hands, and activate smash, defense, or counter.
Foxes and Raccoons : You don’t need help on this do you? They’re the weakest monster in Erinn, only thing they know is defense, they rarely attacks people.
Spiders : The only skill spider have is defense. So use your combo wisely, attack them, and use defense or counter. That way, they won’t damage you that much.
Golem : The giant rock who can punch you all the way off the ground! They have counter, smash, defense, windmill, and ground smashing. When they activate ground smashing, you’ll get damaged if you’re too close to the golem, or running around. Golem has high attack damage, so try to avoid defending its attack! When golem uses windmill, stay away from it! They have the power to knock you out in 1 hit!! Once golem uses defense, they’ll walk extremely slow. Hurry and use smash, if you’re too late the golem will cancel its defense and hit you. Golem will run after you when its using smash, simply regular hit it when it does that. Golem’s running speed is FASTER than you, don’t even think you can run away from it!
Mimics : The monster that looks like a treasure box. Once you tries to open it, it’ll starts attack you. Don’t worry, mimics are really weak, the only skill they have is defense.
Rats and bats : Weak monster that you’ll see in dungeons, only skill they have is defense.
Pocket rats : The mutated rat!? It’ll become bigger if you hit it with magic, and it also have high damage. Use regular attack, defense, and counter.
Snake : This kind of monster have the same speed as you. Snake have defense, and smash. Even though they look dangerous, they’re really easy to be killed. There are 3 different type of snake, brown, blue, and white. The brown one is the weakest, while white one is strong. Every time the snake attacks you, they’ll run back and attack you again.
Gargoyles : They have great speed in moving, but weak in health. They have so much attack power they can kill you in 1 hit. Gargoyles have smash, defense, and counter. Use the combo you use on wolves to against them. Try not to defense, because you’ll still get a lot of damage.
Skeletons : The fearful looking undead, they have powerful attacks. White skeletons have defense, smash, and counter. Red skeletons have the same as white skeleton, except have a bow! Metal skeleton is the strongest out of all, they have all skills like red skeleton and strong windmill that can defeat you in 1 hit! How to against them then? Its very easy, once you see they’re targeting you, hurry and regular attack them. After that, if they use a skill wait and see. If they starts running with a skill on, regular hit them, if they’re not moving, wait for them to cancel. Once they have cancel the skill, hurry and attack them! If they don’t use a skill, you get to attack them again! But be careful, once you defeat a skeleton, another one will target you right after. (This method was discovered by Skybon.)
Bears : Strong animal in Erinn, they have defense, counter, and smash. Watch out for them, even they look dumb and slow, they are actually really smart in using their skills. When they use a skill, sometimes they’ll cancel it and attack you. For example, when they use smash and run up to you, the suddenly cancel and use regular attack. Also, when they use defense, they will suddenly cancel it too.
Rat man : They have defense, smash, counter, and windmill. They’re not that strong, but takes some technique to defeat them. They use windmill a lot, so be careful. Best way to defeat them is to use range attacks.
Werewolf : A very strong enemy with passive defense, smash, counter, smash, and windmill. Use magic against them would be very helpful, since they use windmill most of the time you knock them down.
Gorgons : Very strong enemy, they can move very fast, and attack you non stop. Since they have passive defense, you can’t use regular attack on them. Magic won’t work either because they have fast speed. Best way to defeat them is to have party members!
Flying Swords : 3 swords flying in air. Be careful, they can cast lighting on you. They have smash, defense, and counter. Not a strong enemy, but you’ll end up dying if careless. Best way to fight them is to use smash most of the time!
Imps : Weak, small looking monsters, but they are actually really strong! They have high damage and lighting bolt. Best way to defeat them is to have a party!
Succubus : A beautiful looking formor? Her skills are as deadly as her looks. She have all magic, counter, defense, and smash. She also have passive defense, and magic defense. Since you can only solo her, the best way to kill her is to do the hit and run! Smash her once and run away! Or use full charged fire. (Method discovered by skybon.)
Giant worm : Fearful looking worm, but if you can calm down and use the combo against wolf, its really easy.
Troll : Dumb looking tall monster. Passive defense makes it unstoppable, use the hit and run technique on it will work. Or you can fight it by using magic and counter.
Ogre : Strong powerful monster. Ground smash, magic defense, passive defense makes it even more powerful than Troll. Use magic counter against it, it might take a while but you’ll kill it eventually. Watch out for its ground smash, its powerful as the Golem.
Black Wizard : by the name you can tell it’s a magic user, when its casting magic, hurry and attack him!
Whisp : The white bright beautiful light, but they’re not something to be staring at. They can cast lighting magic, and all basic skills such as smash, counter, and defense. You can’t tell what its doing, because it’s a sphere shaped light thing. You can’t tell the difference between the skill. Best way to defeat it is to use magic!
Hell Hounds : They’re just like wolves, but they have powerful firebolt skill! Use the same method as you use to fight wolves would be fine, use be careful when it uses fire bolt!

Now, the fun part begins!! Everyone loves skills don’t they? Let’s move on!
Skills :
Skills are one of the important things in Erinn, why? Because they give so much bonus, and they allow us to enjoy Mabinogi!
You can obtain many different kinds of skills in the game, the max level for each is to Rank 1. Here’s how its ranked, first you start off with practice, then E,F,D,C,B,A,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2, and finally rank 1! Rank 1 is consider master of the skill, you’ll obtain a title for it, but hey, its not easy as you think! In order to upgrade your skill level, not only it requires ability points, you also need to do the require it gives you. For example, combat mastery, from rank Practice to F, it require you to attack anything. After you finished, you can upgrade the skill! As the skill level goes higher, its harder to level it up, and that’s what makes everyone different in skills.
Let’s move on to the dungeons!
Dungeons :
Dungeons are the best place to earn money in game, and also where the fun starts. To go in a dungeon, go to any dungeon and drop any item on the altar. If you drop a beginner pass, the dungeon will be easier, if you drop a random item, the dungeon will be normal level, and if you drop a basic or intermediate passes, the dungeon is going to be very hard.
Alby Dungeon-
Ciar Dungeon-
Rabbie Dungeon-
Math Dungeon-
Fidoh dungeon-
Barri dungeon-
The important part! Let’s learn how to raise a character!
Raising Your Character :
You shouldn’t add your ability points randomly, you should focus on what you wanted to be. If you want to be a warrior, add more on mele skills for example. Everyone should get the free skills, such as rest rank F campfire rank F…etc. First aid is strongly recommended.
Here’s how you should raise your character.
Mage-
Warrior-
Archer-
Production-
But, you don’t really have to follow everything that are listed there, because the main point of the game is to have FUN! You can add playing instruments, or other skills if you want to, just enjoy the game!
Items :
Equipments- You can buy them from clothes shops or blacksmiths, make them yourself, or find them in dungeons. They can’t be used by anyone, because of the race, [censored!] , and etc.
Food- You can get them from grocery, or cook them. You can also find them from monster, dungeons, trees, etc. Food can recover your hunger, and recover stamina, but don’t over eat them! Because you’ll gain different kinds of effect every time you ate a food. For example, if you eat a slice of meat, your weight, upper body muscle will increase, and your legs will be skinner.
Quest items- These items are for special uses, mostly for quests. You’ll eventually find them when you do a quest.
Scrolls- There’s many different kinds of scrolls, like score scroll, sewing pattern, and enchant scrolls. Score scroll can be brought from Malcom’s shop and its used for writing songs. Sewing pattern can be brought from Nora, they’re used for tailoring. Enchant scroll are a little bit different, they can’t be brought, but they can be found in dungeons. They are use for enchanting an equipment, but they have time limit like passes.
Dungeon passes- As I mentioned, some of them have time limit. These passes can be found from monsters, npc, or from quest. They’re use for dungeons, and it won’t work if the dungeon is different from the one says on the pass. If the time limit passed, the pass will be useless.
Potions/bandages- They can be brought from healers, or more dungeons. You can make potions by using potion making skill. There’s 3 types of potions, hp potions, mp potions, and stamina potions. If you over use them, you’ll result in medic poisoning. Bandages are use for recovering wounds, when a player is sitting down, the bandage will work better. You need first aid in order to use the bandages.
Cash items- they can be found from the Mabinogi main page. They can only be obtain if you buy them with cash, or special events.
Etc- there are many other random items in the game, such as gems, branches, nails, firewood, etc. They have their own uses, you’ll soon find out while you’re playing the game.
