Don't feel like reading the entire thread here but I'll throw this out there:
I've had a couple friends have this issue ever since the game came out. It seems to be an issue with character corruption server-side and nothing you can do about it. Unless there are multiple cases where your skills can be lost, but thats the worst one I've seen.
With a specific character a friend would lose his skills with only that character and no matter what PC he played on so...
I'm not gonna read every page either, but basically no one knows exactly what the problem is, I've logged several tickets and gotten no answers (Other than being told to relog the ticket in a different category) and lastly, there is no fix.
It seems that the problem is only on Alexina although I've heard others say that this isn't true. (Not a single person seems to say that this happens to a specific character on a different server, they always just call me out and say that "someone" on a different server has this problem. THEN PROVE ME WRONG!)
The only thing we can do is wait for Nexon to fix it. Log a Feedback ticket, they might actually read it, even if they don't reply to it. And again, wait.
Hopefully in the next update they'll adress this issue. (Or at least acknowledge it -___-)
I'm having this problem just now..I just logged in on, and all of my windows were in their default position. My skill bar had no skills on it. This has happened to me before, but all I had to do was wait a few seconds and everything would be back to what I had it. I play on the Mari server.

I have the same issue with the skill bar not remembering skills, however I've always been able to read books.
For those that have the skill bars working, can you tell me if you have any files--any at all--saved under My Documents\Mabinogi\Settings (Documents -> Mabinogi -> Settings for Vista)? If so, can you post the file names and the contents of those files if possible?
This issue is very weird because it looks like a server side issue sometimes, and a client side issue on other times. I'm just working on a hunch.

An easy solution I've found is, since the skill hotkeys only seem to reset when you actually close from the Mabinogi client, just don't completely X-out mabinogi. I've found no issue with hotkeys reseting when switching channels, switching characters, and even switching accounts, so when I'm done with Mabi for a bit, I simply leave it on the log in screen or the character selection screen. And since I like to shut my computer down every couple days I only have to reset the hotkeys 3-4 times a week, which is easily tolerable. :D

Yeah, I do the same thing, my laptop and my bf's computers work but mine doesn't ... which has to rule out any ISP problems.

There's no difference between my connection and my bf's connection to the router. My laptop is the only difference, it's on the Wireless, but it still loads skills just fine.

I'm using 64bit, but so is my bf's computer. Actually, so is my laptop, now that I think about it.This problem has been here since before I even knew about any tcpip.sys or the tcp registry edit. So that isn't the problem ...

dpepic:Well it seems I have found a solution to all three problems (GUI placement, hotskills, books) that might help:). Firstly, I have no clue as to how the korean language thing helped, except that maybe there might be two different reasons for the same problem. The books (and GUI placement and hotskills, as it seems) are transferred in some form of html ( here's one book directly from the serverhttp://mabibook.nexon.net/usa/book_rookie_guide.html ). Now, as I dislike surfing throught wireless unprotected, I was using a vpn tunneler. The tunneler had the nasty habit of ramming banners into any html. My guess is that the game was fed those banners with the info it wanted in my case, and choked on the banners not knowing what to do with them. So I simply switched to a tunneler with no ads and all three problems are solved:). I can read books, and my GUI and hotskills stay as they should. I hope I managed to help at last one more soul. Thanks to all the people working together in this thread:).Post Scriptum,www.mabiguru.com also has a bunch of people figuring out that problem, so you might want to check there too;).
That might be an excellent solution for people with your setup, but I'm pretty sure most people won't have that, I know I don't ...
dpepic:... just set your standards and formats under control panel->regional and language options to English(United States). Do not have a clue why the game advocates "use Korean". Tested 5 times. 5 out of 5 the error shows up if your standards are not EN-US, and works proper if they are.
Tried. Doesn't work. My bf's computer and my laptop are both on English (Australia) and it works just fine for them.
grimlockf:I gaurantee after such thorough testing on my part this >is< the main source of this particular issue, the only sure way to correct it is to install IE7 and update it fully, if this solution does not correct the issue for you then ie7 is not installing or installed properly on your machine or not fully updated correctly
Didn't work. I had it before, it didn't work, I uninstalled it (I have issues against IE so I use Chrome) and it still didn't work, I installed it because you said so, and it didn't work; I uninstalled/re-installed again, and it didn't work. So, no changes. I have it working now and my computer still doesn't have IE 7 on it.

atsuten:Run Applocale, select the Mabinogi.exe, then select the last choice in the list of languages. Make sure you check the box to create a shortcut.Right click the shortcut, select properties.Under the Shortcut tab, in the "Target:" box, it should have the path for your Mabinogi.exe file. Mine was:Target: C:\WINDOWS\AppPatch\AppLoc.exe "C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\Mabinogi.exe" "/L0411" Change the 411 (Japanese) to 412 (Korean). Mine target bar now reads:Target: C:\WINDOWS\AppPatch\AppLoc.exe "C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\Mabinogi.exe" "/L0412"
I tried doing this, but I found it really confusing, and it didn't seem to work for me at all, for some reason. I'm sure I was doing it wrong. XD

Where the hell does that shortcut go? I've probably got a bajillion shortcuts somewhere now, 'cus I tried it again and again and again and again...!
In the end, I got it working, but not by (manually) running AppLocale. What I did was...- I went to my Mabinogi folder;- I right-clicked inside the folder, and went to New > Shortcut. A wizard pops up, asking for the target for the shortcut; and- I put in C:\WINDOWS\AppPatch\AppLoc.exe "C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\Mabinogi.exe" "/L0412".I moved the shortcut to my desktop, and pinned it to my start menu. It works. o.o
If someone tries that, and it still doesn't work, I've got nooooo idea. *shrugs* Good luck ~
PS:I'm running a FRESH install of Windows XP Professional 64 bit.Fresh, as in I installed it twenty minutes ago.
So don't bother re-installing Windows, either.
