I find healing more of a support role or if you have excess mana and you don't feel like fighting, or want the INT. Healing is a good way to be social and helpful. Sometimes it's good to stand back and support the combat party members. I have rank 6 Party Heal and Rank 3 Heal. I ALWAYS get complemented for healing people, especially those that like to WM spam.

First Aid is much better at Rank A so you don't have to stock up on bandages so much, especially if you are using hand made bandages from the handicraft skill.

I have an Ego Healing Wand however I'm yet to experience the full benefit of this. While healing is costly, the game creators could have at least bought in Chain Casting for Party Healing. It's so unfair that it doesn't get it. (Or does it? Now my wand is an Ego I haven't investigated since Chain Casting came out... my Ego Wand sure as hell doesn't do it though).

Now that my Fire Wand has Chain Casting I can kill everything (but Bug Bears and Bosses) in Ciar Adv with 1 hit. GO CHAIN CAST!

    Fusion Magic is also AWESOME.

I can't say now over the past month how much I love being a mage.

I became a mage when I noticed that my INT was at 150, and my Str at 80.

And I focused on melee skills, but somehow copied Adania's magic.

    :\

Make sure Music Theory and Composing gets ranked.

Now with Chain Casting, Rank 1 bolts and Adv Magic I'm thinking of Deskilling Counter Attack, WM and Combat Mastery... Are there any other mages out there thinking of doing the same?

Composing isn't my priority right now as you can see, but it has been decently ranked.

What about Def for Mages? I know this game is about, "OMGDon't get hit.", but what happens if you need a back-up, just incase you do mess up? I think having high def is benefital to Mages, just so they don't take a lot of damage. Especially if you're a low-HP Mage, like myself. :0 Opinons? :0

    Re: Mages' Discussion

Defense seems useless to low-mid health characters in stronger dungeons. If you have 50hp and 5 defense and get hit by a 2 or 3 combo user that does 60+ damage per swing, you get knocked back into deadly on the first strike. Rather if you had 20 defense and 50hp the first strike would put you to 10hp, at 20% of your health, even with high will, that second part of the combo should kill you.

Unless you aim for very high hp, dont go into defense. Protection is nice just so you can ignore critical and wound damage. Wound damage is the only flaw in low hp class. I would much rather use negative defensive gear then positive, and use only protection upgraded cloth and protection accessories with my mana set.

Your backup is that one hit and nothing else, either prepare the next attack, use a pet, or spam hp potions, whichever you do. You wont be comboed thats for sure.

well with a kite, 6 basic def, rank B defense, I'm able to pull off a "Defend+ bolt" if I need to.

if I need instant knockback, its Bolt + windmill.

Since I'm a high-HP mage, I'm able to pull more things off than others, (harhar Yuta. You so easy to heal) but I'm also behind in specific mage stats

    Re: Mages' Discussion

How many hits can you take in ciar adv with high hp and good gear? 2 combo attacks, 3?

I run Ciar Adv for levels. fireball and a ego chaincasting firewand is all I need there.

Now Fiodh inter 4 might be a good place to have higher hp with defense gear, if your soloing it. Good thing my partner is a ice mage with IS and a chaincasting ice wand I must say.

It really depends on the dungeon, but since ciar inters/adv seem to be the common dungeon for exp, Id rather have 10 hp then 200+

And for the Pvpers of elf/giant/supporters. Try going in with 5 or less hp and see what happened each time you die.

    Re: Mages' Discussion

Defense? Why? What do Mages need defense for? Bolts, WM, Counter, Chain Cast, Adv Magic.... And since most mages use a wand, unless you want to waste durability slapping mosters to death.

I would rather chug HP pots instead of Mana pots, because Mana = my offense.

:\ Hp should be my defense, unless I'm in a melee-only duel

    Not even close.

Chaincast lightning bolt wont hit every monster around you and it wont do 500 damage to them either.

Theres also the fact that not every monster is going to be in lightning bolt splash range.
