Title says it all.

 If you're human I suggest using duel wielding. With (Hetero)Kite shield and a Stiff Fierce Mace in second slot, or another duel. For looking cool go with Claymore.

1. Claymores can't be wielded with a kite shield or any shields for that matter (until shields for giants are realeased)
2. As for mace and kite combo (I like this combo and am using this set for my human and since elves can't dual weild, might as well get a shield to increase the defense.)

Warhammers have high max damage but the consequence is extremely low balance (Usually lower than 20%), which is horrible if you dont have 200+ Dexterity.

what do you mean as in mod? as in you can change the stats on it with upgrades or a real mod here? either I might wanna try it out. i know how fully upgraded maces do.

My set is a fully upgraded mace with a upgraded kite shield all the way. you get the best of both worlds High attack damage and defence all you really need.
