Occasionally a new user will download Mabinogi, install it, and attempt to run it, only to be greeted with the message, "Not a service area."

This almost always happens because the user does not live within Nexon America's licensed service area for Mabinogi, which consists of North America and Oceania.

Everyone understands that it's very frustrating to encounter this after spending a lot of time downloading such a large installer, but there's nothing to be done about it. The Nexon parent company in Korea only grants limited, not worldwide, licenses to those companies which run the localized versions of its games, and Nexon America must adhere to the terms of its license.

Occasionally, a resident of Nexon America's service area may encounter this error. In that case, log on to the customer support section of the website and file a "Tech Support/Bug Report" ticket. Be clear about what your problem is, and provide your IP address and the name of your Internet Service Provider. To obtain your IP address, follow the directions given here.

Military personnel deployed overseas might or might not be able to play depending on how their Internet connection is set up. If it is through a US network, as are most APO systems, chances are they can. Local setup may vary, so if you have any doubt please file a ticket for specific information.

If you live in Latin America or the Caribbean, it won't be immediately clear whether or not you can play without filing a ticket. The GMs can check your IP address and tell you whether or not it's within Nexon America's licensed service area.
