    Re: The Path of Mabinogi Installation is Invalid

    Are you trying to use a Download Manager (like GetRight) or BitTorrent to get the file?

    I know it takes longer, but you might try to just use the Windows downloader to save the file to your desktop until after the install.

    My solution does work, and it's helped a lot of others, myself included, but it sounds like you're not downloading the file, but trying to install the program straight from the site, which does not work though it looks like it does since the launcher works, but then you get the path invalid error because the rest of the program isn't installed.

    Life is but a dream for the fortunate, for the rest, it's a NIGHTMARE!

    I don't know if this will help you but i used internet explorer and for some reason it downloaded realy slowly but when it got to 10% i left and came back and it was done! I was only gone for 10 seconds! it was so slow as I watched it to! well after that it asked me (which it never did befor) if i want to run it or open the folder which do I pick? hope this gives you more of an ideay of whats going wrong.

    I for got to mentchon that I saved the file in stead of running it so the reason why its saying open or run is because If i open it itll show me the folder I saved it to so I can run it from there....which is the same as running it so im just wasting time  to me but maby to you theres a deffrence.

    Re: The Path of Mabinogi Installation is Invalid

      Because this thread started out on a legitimate problem (and has since then seemed to have become a confused mess) I will try and sum up the problem and the only working solution.  Thus far, anyway.

       The problem is of course that after downloading the installer and initializing it, the launcher appears.  Displaying a faded "Start Game" at the bottom right, and various other graphics and bits of text advertising items and so on.  All is well, except for the small window displayed in the center, which simply states "The Path of Mabinogi Installation is Invalid".  Which is..  Problematic.  The entire launcher shuts down shortly afterwards.  Having experienced this myself (and tried several things to fix it to no avail), it's a bit frustrating.  Nothing even remotely Nexon related has never been installed on this computer before, so delated folder paths that aren't there anyway is a somewhat difficult solution to implement.  No Nexon folder was created, yet a Mabinogi folder containing a bug report in My Documents was.  I decided to open the bug report, titled 'launcher_log.txt', and was met with this:

     Mabinogi Launcher for Mabinogi :  ver64
    Date/Time : 2008/05/11, 00:54:51
    ERROR : CRegistry::GetStringLength(Software\Nexon\Mabinogi,Files) failed.
    ERROR : CRegistry::ReadString(Software\Nexon\Mabinogi,) failed.
    ERROR : CLauncherMgr::SetGameDir() : invalid path : "D:\".
    MessageBox() : #The path of Mabinogi installation
    # is invalid.
    Cleanup.

      Hmm.  Exactly where are those directories?  And are the commas really supposed to be there?  Perhaps an error in the code.  But alas, that's nothing I can fix, so instead I take a look at the "D:\" part of the log and realise I have it stored on a secondary drive.  Perhaps that's the problem?  I switch it over to my 'C' drive, and try again:

    Mabinogi Launcher for Mabinogi :  ver64
    Date/Time : 2008/05/11, 01:11:48
    ERROR : CRegistry::GetStringLength(Software\Nexon\Mabinogi,Files) failed.
    ERROR : CRegistry::ReadString(Software\Nexon\Mabinogi,) failed.
    Game directory is "C:\Users\I Am Admin\Documents\".
    MessageBox() : #The path of Mabinogi installation
    # is invalid.
    Cleanup.

      Oh.  That didn't help, I guess.  In a last ditch attempt, I try and reason where "Software\Nexon\Mabinogi\" would be in my directories, and put the installer there, hoping that perhaps the installer is pointing itself to look for the install files in a certain director, even though..  Well, anyway, I'm sure you can understand it doesn't make much sense, but it's worth a shot.  I create the directory "C:\Software\Nexon\Mabinogi,Files" and run the installer from there.

     Nothing.

    I run it from "...\Mabinogi," and even "...\Mabinogi\Files\" for good measure.  Still, nothing.  Nothing's installed.  Thoroughly confused, I abandon it entirely.  Having tried everything I can think of including conventional answers like running it with administrative rights, or shutting off firewalls, I can only blame the program.  Or perhaps Vista.  But seeing as how others are having the same problem, Vista is off the hook.  Like usual.

      The only truly logical solution I can think of now is of course downloading an earlier version of the installer that I know works for sure, and installing with that, then updating to the most recent version of the game.  Which, funny enough, seems to be exactly the answer found here.  So to all still having this problem, I reccomend downloading the FileFront client, and updating from there.  I'm downloading it myself, and when it's complete, I'll give my confirmation.  (And repost the link.)

    I wouldn't bother trying to fix the installer you already downloaded if it's not working.  Not until someone from Nexon can come in and explain exactly what the problem is.  After all, you probably came to play the game, not troubleshoot it, right?  :X

      Good luck.

    -Mataro.

    Re: The Path of Mabinogi Installation is Invalid

    I downloaded the client from the main site and installed it on my PC tower no problem. However I am experiencing this exact error on my laptop. I did use a local library connection to download it now which was slow and I needed a couple attempts due to interruption. Is it possible my download was incomplete? When i view the installers properties it says the size is 575 MB (603,109,708 bytes) and it's size on disk is 575 MB (603,111,424 bytes) Is this slight difference in size normal? did I get the whole file? i thought my download window originally stated it was 858.8MB while i was downloading the file.

    Perhaps we have incomplete files? I think this library keeps kicking me offline after a certain download limit to prevent bandwidth hogging. SHouldn't the installer have a red celtic knot logo? mine has the basic windows default icon of a little white window with a blue menu bar. I'm thinking this means it is an incomplete file. Are you sure you downloaded every last little k? If your bar goes up slowly to 10% then jumps to done, I bet there was some error instead of the file legitimately finishing. Which SUCKS because I don't have a download manager so every time it fails I have to start from scratch! there should be a broken up file I can download pieces of and unzip. I feel bad for anyone on dial-up.

    I'm using a lap-top to. Should I install the game on a PC and then transfer it to this laptop?

    Re: The Path of Mabinogi Installation is Invalid

    It is unlikely the problem is with laptops exclusively so I don't think that will help. Upon checking my Home PC the install file should indeed, be 858MB. So right click the file you downloaded and make sure it is the full size. Since I was having this same complication after downloading an incomplete file. (it was only 560ish MB)

    Re: The Path of Mabinogi Installation is Invalid

    UPDATE: After downloading the install file using my home (note: reliable) network I am having no issues. I used the same PC and source.

    So my cause at least was an incomplete/corrupted download of the installer. Perhaps other things can cause this same issue, but that's what cause the symptom for me.  The file should be 585MB and it doesnt have a red celtic knot icon, just the regular .exe windows uses.

     It says thats its: 569 MB (597,557,248 bytes) and on disc its: 569 MB (597,557,248 bytes) (no difference) is this ok?

    The icon looks like a web blank web browser with no address bar and stuff. be for i had a icon like a flower or something. Can someone tell me how they got it working step by step with every detail.  I will still down load it again, maybe it's just having errors occur by chance and if I'm luck it may be success full for once!

    Destroyer or anyone else that can't get it to work still can email me to schedule maybe a time I can file transfer the installer to you or put it up on limewire for you. And no, I don't have any ETD's(Electronically Transmitted Diseases) either.

    Re: The Path of Mabinogi Installation is Invalid

    ive discovered my promblem, awhile back i needed to update my maplestorys patcher and right after that i thought that if i restore my computer to the time befor i first downloaded maybinogi maby uikk get rid of a file that causreing the problem to reoccur-this disicion was not at all a good one because when you restor a computer it deleats programs but not documents which are sometimes within programs, i uninstall the maple story update but not the files of it! this eror caused me to fial to update it agian or play it so now i had to uninstall it completely and install! when i did this my computer came up with a message saying that the installation is ether currrpt or has a virrus and can not be installed! this massage reminded me of the installation of maybinogi says! so i decided that maybe its me installing it and not the programs being installed. i decided to watch the installation this time. as i watched it the download was half way threw when my older brother (who was on a second computer hooked up to the same router)  told me that he lagged and as i watched the installation it froze! after 20 seconds of being frozen- this hasnever happened befor but my instalation siad it was com pleat!!!!!! The installation was of course not compleat and came up with the same message. I then downloaded the game once more but this time when no one was online to lag with me, i watched it go and it did indeed make it threw the entire installation and i now have the other game i was trying to install! now ill try agian to get maybinogi and hopefully ill receive the same results!

    (excuse all my spelling errors, I'm using a really weird and new keyboard that I'm am not used to so I continuously make spelling errors)
