Little Lion:Hm.I've read some posts, followed quite a few and they all reflect our dismay and anger towards a selfish propaganda strategy that, let's face it, worked pretty well due to it's apparently "naive" simplicity. Yes, it's so easy to say now "oooh we so sorry, we forgot to tell you about this little detail..."Yes Nexon, we should have known better, yes, we get to read that little fine print in your rare public announcements now, but where was that a couple of months ago? Not waiting for an answer here and neither should anyone who is reading this thread. It's good to vent up your stress but after all that what are you going to do? No, for real, what else is there to be done? Go play another game? By all means, and if it's free all the better! But... it's that it? To all of you, Europeans, South Americans, Australians, and so many others out there wanting to play: Don't just cross your ams, organize yourselves. If you are willing to fill a forum with dozens upon dozens of pages about how pissed you are, then do the same in wonderful little e-mails and send them to Nexon corp. Make petitions, block their mail servers with your words! However, if you are over that act on a brighter, more positive way and write to your country's Nexon site and ask for any news on a Mabinogi release. The more you are, the more interest you show, the more they will think about it. Hell, suggest gashmania to acquire the english client and release it, they accept everybody. With this said, I am actually wondering how Nexon NA is going to behave from now on. If they keep faithful to their hypocritical ways, most likely everybody with wits will be able to keep playing the game outside North America and probably pay for Mabinogi items once the game goes gold.Only time will tell because surely, Nexon NA won't.

Here's my 2c.
I was browsing through Nexon and I saw on the Mabinogi main page, the little rectangular scrolling announcement that says "February 23rd and 24th ANYONE CAN PLAY!" I spent time and bandwidth downloading the game, installed it, then tried to start a new character.
And I got this error 30022.I live in Australia.
If I had known that it was NA only, then I wouldn't have bothered wasting my time and bandwidth on it. Nice going, Nexon. Either they were so lazy that they couldn't pull the NA only disclaimer on their front page, or they think that "anyone" only mean North Americans. Either way I'm pretty disappointed.
Does anyone know whether open beta would allow other countries access?

some1 mentioned it b4 in previous comments/ thread, cant rem where
Dude what the freak is going on I am getting pissed off!! NEXON I AM FROM GUAM AND THAT IS A U.S. TERRITORY...WHY THE HELL AM I GETTING THIS 30022 ?! EVEN IN CLOSED BETA I GOT THIS (got key from FilePlanet)... YOU GUYS ARE WORSE THAN GAMETRIBE!!! Infinity Online is only for EU and not NA...Well I am apart of the U.S. and I am still getting my acc: kicked off of Mabinogi because of your NOT A SERVICE AREA(30022). Can you guys do something about it if your reading this? Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez!
That's assuming they CAN buy that license. If someone else already bought it or if the license holders don't want an 'international' version then there isn't much Nexon NA can do. You assume they have alot more power than the whole license thing offers. Sidenote, if you do wish to donate (since it could be just a pricing issue), there's always buying NX cash right now. When it comes to donations, people only listen to actions, not words, since may say "I'll donate" but few put up the dough, even if they payed earlier.
Think about it: do you really think Nexon NA wants to waste their time pissing off a bunch of people? There's ALOT more profit in opening the servers up to everyone, and don't we keep saying that companies like Nexon are 'greedy and just looking for money'? License issues, like legal issues, can be translated as "we wanted to so something to get more cash but the #&$*(%# won't let us". Note that the license holders have no reason to worry about NA's profits or your wanting to play with others, since they'll make money selling the license off to someone else (in fact, more money I wager, since then both NA and other companies will seperately have to pay for upgrades, services, and what not. Better to have 2 paying customers than 1 right?)
Actually I'm totally surprised to see most of the answers, especially those concerning the developers of Mabinogi who obviously/probably sold the license.
I dunno if it's just ignorance or incapability of the usage of old friend google, but a short little research on that matter made things quite clear and me more mad than you guys can imagine - look at this site:
http://company.nexon.com/english/
click at the tab for Mabinogi and I guess some of you will understand what I mean. You guys know what? The developer of Mabinogi is - at least according to the official homepage of Nexon... - big surprise: Nexon.
License agreement my *** - the only company who got the license is obviously Nexon themself. And I don't care if it's called Nexon-America, Nexon-Europe (which, as far as I heard, isn't much more than a mailbox and a callcenter), Nexon-Korea, what-so-ever. In the end, it's all the Nexon Corporation.
So everybody might come to his own conclusions according to that information;but the stale taste of all this will definitely remain.
From Wikipedia: Nexon Corporation
----
"Nexon Corporation (Korean: 넥슨) is a Korean Gaming corporation, and a developer of online games and MMORPGs. Its headquarters are located in Seoul, Korea."
"NEXON America first started as NXGames in October 2005. By partnering with Wizet, NEXON America cosigned and acquired publishing rights of MapleStory in North America. On November 2, 2006, NXGames began marketing their business as NEXON America and dropping the NXGames name. On November 9, 2006, NEXON America had announced its partnership with MTV Networks to promote NEXON games and enhance the Neopets services.[4] NEXON has also announced that they will market MapleStory, Kartrider, Mabinogi, and Audition Online with MTV Networks. NEXON America currently leads the American Online Gaming Industry with the North American MapleStory version recently reaching almost the 5-million player mark"
Same name, different people. Not the first time either. Ragnarok Online is owned by Gravity Co.in South Korea. Meanwhile the International version to RO was run by a DIFFERENT company that was named Gravity LLC. The Gravity that ran IRO had to buy the rights and each and every patch separately from Korea Gravity.
They may have a partnership of some sort, but they are two buisnesses and deal with each other accordingly. Not everything is a conspiracy.
As I said everbody might come to his/her own conclusions; actually I had read that article beforehand, but since on the Nexon Mainpage Nexon America is more less shown as one of their departments, well...
Oh and, if you've ever watched X-files you'd know that indeed everything is a conspiracy XD.
Then who's to say that YOU aren't just Gravity LLP seeking to destroy the reputation of Nexon by spreading propaganda.
Give it up. No one's going to pay $20 a month to play your little out of date game!
OMG wow that really made me laugh now - and awaaaayyyy we go... rofl
I'm kinda glad Nexon decided to include Mexico as a part of North America. Well done Nexon! Most games don't even consider us. D: I do feel the servers are going to be emptier without our European/Australian/etc friends. Hope Nexon gets the licensing done quickly.
