That's what happens when I just double click the icon I DL'd on my desktop. NEVER installed this game before. Played Maple Story AGES ago, and never on this computer.

Ok, try this:

Uninstall Mabinogi using the Control Panel.

Then Delete all Mabinogi folders on your computer (Do a search to make sure there aren't any)

Move the installer program to your Desktop.

Reboot, and follow the other instructions from there.

After your install, make sure the game runs and then delete your installer.

That's exactly what happens to me all times I have ever run the first party setup file. It's the only one appearing to be available on the Mabinogi client download page. I'm currently downloading a third party one available at Filefront since you download the moment you click on the download link unlike at other similar sites. It was uploaded on March 24th, 2008, so it's over a month old.

I will be comparing versions, unless that one works right off. The first party was downloaded last night, ver60 based on the error report (743 MiB / 779,778,100 bytes). The one at Filefront is 892.35 MiB / 935,693,031 Bytes, so even if they're the same version there is already size discrepancy I can see. I suggest everyone check the size of the version they're using and post it right now.

I have the same problem! So far I've;

1. Downloaded the client (from http://mabinogi.nexon.net/Downloads/Client.aspx, default MabinogiSetup.exe)

2. Run this file.

3. It blips a black screen then immediately goes to a launcher screen with a box stating the title of this thread. Behind the box I see "Notices & Updates" and "Featured Items".

4. After about 5 seconds it closes on its own.

 

I will look around a bit and see if I can figure this out. If not, maybe I'll try Pirates Online instead. 

try the manual patch, if the manual patch doesn't work try auto patching in safe mode

First thing I did after reading your post was to check the installed files for Mabinoga. Nothing! I think Obsolom and myself are part of a new group who don't have that in our installed files? A good question would be to ask if users who have had this issue in the past if they have had it in their installed files. I'm also not completely satisfied that deleting the Mabinogi folder out of My Documents is part of the real solution (doing that anyways though throughout this troubleshooting process).

Thanks. Attempting those two things now. I'm going to finish the Filefront client before I restart for safe mode if I need to go that far. Manual patch is a misleading name lol, but I see how that could be the right thing to do in this implementation. Really appreciate the suggestion!

I get the same error using the manual patch, odd. I'm going to attempt installing the Filefront client (60%) next. For some reason my pc hangs attempting to go into Safe Mode, so I can't do the second part of your suggestion, sorry.

*Attention to everyone watching this thread.*

If you are still having problems - please download and try installing the Filefront client I talked about earlier in this thread. It appears that Nexon's client available on the site either does not ever properly finish downloading or they uploaded a corrupted binary. I'm unsure which it is.

If you figure out the problem with the Nexon's client, please post it here in this thread so that people don't have to download more than once if they can avoid it.
