I did this on vista, what will happen?

It should work fine on Vista as long as you have SP1, or the hotfixed thats linked in the link in my first post. If you don't have either of those, it will do nothing.

Heh yeah, this will greatly improve latency/internet/network related issues, it'll do nothing for framerates, stuttering, or skipping caused by your computer or by the game. Its purely for network lag. 

Ok, I'm NO wiz at computers and I have vista, so I tried following the steps you listed, but had some problems. This is how I did it:

1. Run Regedit

2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> ControlSet001 -> Services -> Tcpip -> Parameters -> Interfaces

3. Here's where I'm stuck. I have NO idea what the heck all of those numbers in the file names mean. There's only about 5 of them... Is that supposed to be that way? And could someone give me advice on how to figure out which one I should open and edit?

Reminder : I have vista. Anyone else having this problem? Or is it just me?

Yeah thats the tricky part. If you are unsure, you can do it to all of them and it will not cause any problems. If you can look for ones that have things in them called "DhcpServer" or "AddressType" you can only do it in those to save yourself some trouble.

If you really dunno whats going on, just do it once for each of those folders under Interfaces. 

If you have Windows Vista and do not have SP1, you NEED the hotfixes to make this work. You can find links to the hotfixes for both 64 bit and 32 bit vista on this page.

How do I tell if I have 32 or 64-bit vista? On the download page it says that it might mess up my computer if I download the wrong one.

Ugh. No edit button. I also ment to add that my computer is relatively new, so I might have that SP1 thing if it comes with newer versions of vista... meh. ASSISTANCE PLOX! xD

You just have to know, I can't help you with that. I'm not very Vista experienced myself either :/. If you've run all the autoupdates the hotfix may have been included with that, so I'd just try the registry thing and see if it helps. If it doesn't, you can worry about the hotfixes.

Nice. The game seems smoother now, I thank you for the good find.

Though if I may suggest, I strongly reccomend you put a disclamer next time warning the people of the consequences of incorrectly changing values in Regedit and that you claim no responsibility if they mess up their own computer. Most people shouldn't be able to mess up their computer from this but you never know.
