Magic Counter
There are two types of magic counter that can be used to solo pretty much every monster in the game. They use Firebolt and Icebolt for Large and Small monsters respectively. Thunderbolt generally is not used because it can hit more than one monster and accidentally make two monsters aggressively attack you.
Icebolt Counter
Icebolt counter or IBC for short, starts by charging two bolts before any monsters are aggressively attacking you. You then find the monster you wish to attack, and shoot both bolts, and then IMMEDIATELY start preparing counter after the second bolt is fired. Once the monster comes and the counter animation starts, start preparing one icebolt. As soon as it's prepared, shoot the monster and prepare counter. Keep preparing only one icebolt each time counter activates, and just keep alternating between counter and icebolt until the monster is dead. Depending on where you are, another monster may immediately become aggressive and try to attack you as soon as you kill the current monster you're working on, so if you can, prepare counter as soon as your current monster dies. If the last thing you used was counter, and thus you cannot prepare it right away, use windmill first.2IB>Counter>1IB>Counter>1IB>Counter...
Firebolt Counter
Firebolt counter, or FBC for short, is used for bosses and large monsters. the concept is the same as icebolt counter, except you can start by charging the firebolt skill fully for your first shot, but after that, alternate between one firebolt and counter, just as described in the IBC description.
5FB>Counter1FB>Counter>1FB>Counter...
Notes
Sometimes, an enemy will defend and walk directly towards you, to the point they're running into you, and will just stay in defend. This is a glitch, and if this happens, cancel counter and smash, but do not move from the place you are standing until you smash. Be sure to prepare counter immediately after.
At first, using Magic Counter takes up a lot of stamina, so bring stamina pots. This stamina usages is cut in half once you reach rank C in counter, so I would recommend doing that as fast as possible.
Hello, I decided after Closed Beta that it would be wise to make a guide for new players on how to actually fight. I went through countless dungeon runs with filled parties, and ended up with just Veteran players alive and everyone else, never listening to advice, so here we go. Basic Combat A How-To on Surviving in Battle! Alright lets start with our basics, when you're first starting off in Mabinogi you have a Ego Training sword, at this point everyone knows about the Combat Skills, but lets review them! Melee Combat Mastery Leveling this skill will increase physical damage, max HP, and balance while using melee weaponry. Defense Defending allows a player to block an single enemy attack. The Stat of Defense Aids you in Damage Blocked The %'tage of Protection lowers enemies rate of critical hit upon you. You will be knocked back from Firebolt, Smash, Or Magnum Shot, But Magnum shot fails to knockback when using a shield. Smash Smash is used to attack an opponent with a powerful slash, blow, or sometimes kick :3~ Smash is NOT counter-acted by Defense, it can be stopped with the Skill Counterattack. Smash is stopped by using normal attacks, it is stopped at a 100% rate if done properly. Counterattack Counterattack uses a %'tage of the players damage with a %'tage of the opponents damage to calculate the total damage done by the skill, this skill applies kickback, or knockback to the receiver, sending them to the floor a little ways away from the user. THIS DOES NOT WORK against The following:
Using this skill will constantly eat your Stamina until impact, and you may not move while the skill is active. Counter also does not work on all monsters! Some field bosses can not be counterattacked, most of these are on the Iria Continent (Home of Elves & Giants) Windmill Windmill causes damage and knockback to all opponents in the radius of the attack, unless defense is active. You Lose 10% of your HP when using this attack Critical with windmill will ignore protection of the opponent You can load another skill while you are still spinning for windmill (Chain Combos, which will be explained later on, can be used easily with windmill.) There is also sharp mind, but I will not go into detail about this, because I believe as do many other older players that relying on sharp mind reduces a players awareness and can break the entire battle tactic if relied on too much. These are your basic melee combat skills, now how do we use them properly. Final Hit Only Used By Humans Allows the user to gain a type of holy aura, allowing them to phase walk to opponents instantly, and attack nonstop 'til the skills end. Dual-Wielding weapons allows the user to not knockback the opponent while attacking Using any other weapons will knockback an opponent with each hit You CANNOT use any Potions or Items during Final Hit Weapons can be swapped during Final Hit Taking Damage during FH will not knock you back, or stop the skill, but you will take the damage. FH has a cooldown of 5 Minutes. Assault (Skill info Credit to Kitae) Assault can be used by all races, humans & elves need a shield to use it (I heard somewhere elves do not, but thats unsure) Giants can use it with any equip. Assault is a dashing attack which allows you to home in on your opponent and run at them with fierce speed, and tackle them for STUN push back. During this stun the enemy cannot do anything, and is open for any kind of attack. Assault was made for people who spam arrows. During your dash, all arrows that come in contact with you will be drastically reduced in damage, and will not flinch your character. However, magic now only throws you off course, but stuns you back as well. Assault has a cool down timer of... 10 seconds (Unsure). It is useful in many different situations, including running away (very fast), or running at (enemy too far?). The higher the rank the more damage you will do, the more arrow damage you block, and so on. Combos & Chain Combos How to not get your ass handed to you against monsters Starting off a lot of people think they can just run up in dungeons or field and spam random skills to win, this is wrong. It might work sometimes, but later on, you will just look like an idiot, and die a lot. For many monsters, the combo can be the same, here are a few combos commonly used: Smash => Counter => Defense => Three Hit Combo Smash => Defense => Three Hit Combo => Counter Smash => Defense => Three Hit => Defense => Three Hit For Multiple Enemies theres also these: Windmill => Counter (Can Easily get you killed if the mobs are too strong for you, after the counter, another might just beat you down xD) Windmill => Rapidly. (If you rankup windmill enough, you can perform it in a near rapid succession, causing all the mobs attacked, to be knocked around repeatedly until they die.) Windmill => Party Assistance (This is used when the Windmiller hits all the mobs, his or her party then moves in to sweep out monsters as he or she focuses on one themselves.) There are also more what I guess you can call Advanced Combos involving Magic as well, these are: Ice Counter Ice Bolt x2 => Counter => Ice Bolt x1 => Counter The two ice bolts at the beginning cause a monster with multiple weapons to sub their ranged and rush you, allowing the counter to work correctly. Fire Counter Fire Bolt x1~5 => Counter => Fire Bolt x1 => Counter The beginning fire doesn't matter unless you're looking to cause higher damage at the start, which is a smart thing to do. Lightning Counter Lightning Bolt x1~5 (Single Opponent In Range) => Counter => Lightning Bolt x1 => Counter This one is risky, not many people actually use Lightning for counters from what I've seen, I could be wrong. I do use it a lot, but only on Solo Opponents, or else the magic will hit everything in range. Lightning Wind Lightning Bolt x5 => Windmill => Repeation High Ranked Windmill can allow you to start the windmill repeation off with Lightning bolt for more damage. There are many more combos people use, a lot of them you can learn on your own, or create you own and see how they workout against monsters. Chaining Combos are simple to pickup, what I mean by this is the Rate of Speed you can perform combos, A lot of skills can have another skill casted Immediately after the Icon of the skill fades from above your characters head, working on your awareness and speed you can optimize the speed of your performance in Chain Combos. As the community grows and time goes by, I will improve this guide and work on it more. If you would like more information on any skills I will refer you to Mabinogi World's Wiki, for I'm using this guide on just the basics of Combat, not a Skill database.
Basic Ranged Combat How to properly be a Human Archer Ranged Combat Aiming Speed Increases as you Rank Clicking once on the opponent will start the aiming meter & charge the skill The Second Click fires the arrow The Meter goes 'til 99% Not 100% The Meters Maximum Charge depends on the opponents action Standing = 99% Walking = 90% Running = 80% A single shot stuns the opponent without knockback (With exception of Critical Hit I believe.) Support Shot Assistance shot used to not ruin the rhythm of a party-mate Consumes 1 Stamina Aiming Speed is 130% Of a Normal Shot Range is 90% Damage is 80% This skill Does not Rank Arrow Revolver Humans Only skill (My elf would pwn with this ;-; 7 shots ftw! xD) Stacks five arrow shots together, loaded simultaneously Uses an arrow every shot Each Shot Increases in Damage Magnum Shot Ranged Counterpart to Smash Long Range Power Attack Knocks the opponent backwards drastically Magnum does not knockback Defending enemies whom have a shield Aim speed is slightly slower than a normal attack, but range is higher. Used with both Bow & Crossbow, but crossbowmen will kneel to fire this attack. Has the same possibility to miss as a normal shot does. Ranged Fighting My bow has a flavor, does yours? The Key to a Human Archer is Arrow Revolver. Arrow revolver will make any human archer who has the basics down a force to be reckoned with. Ranged Combinations are pretty simple once your Rank is high enough, one thing a lot of people forget to do, is quick reload, or auto reload. As said above, Clicking once aims at an enemy, the next click fires. So if you Click once, then doubleclick for your shot, you will load your next shot asap. Load Shot 99%=> Fire Shot => Doubleclick Used To Load next shot 99%=> Repeat (99% can vary, swap it out in your head for what your opponent is doing, i.e walking running or standing still) Quickfiring is risky, because you can miss shots, just be prepared to defend or counter if this happens and make your distance to have the time. Or fire another shot if you got the balls to do it xD. Load shot 50~80% => Fire => Doubleclicked For Next Shot 50~80% => Fire => Repeat Load shot 50~80% => Fire => Next shot missed! => Defense as you walk away from the enemy Load Shot 50~80% => Fire => Next shot Missed! => Three Steps back Counter Revolver Combo Magnum Shot => Revolver => Normal Shot Magnum Shot => Revolver => Revolver Magnum Shot => Revolver => Counter Magnum Shot => Revolver => Windmill (Must Rank Windmill A or Higher) Magnum Shot => Revolver => Defense (If enemy is near death, just for a flashy ending xD) Magic & Revolver Magnum Shot => Revolver => Ice bolt x1 => Normal Shot Magnum Shot => Revolver => Fire Bolt x1 => Normal Shot Magnum Shot => Revolver => Ice / Fire Bolt x1 => Counter => Normal Shot Jester Shooting Jester shooting is kindof a way to be an ass, and you have to be fast. Magnum Shot => Lightning Bolt x1 => Normal Shot => Lightning x1 => Normal Shot => Repeat 2~4 Once your rank of these skills is high enough, you can Jester shot. The Lightning is used as knockback and additional damage. Human Stun Gunning I myself have never tried Human Stun Gunning because it works better with elves, seeing they cannot use Revolver but fire two shots normally. The Way Stun Gunning works is you stay close to the enemy, and you're fast enough stunning them with arrows to prepare additional shots and fire before its ready to fight again. Magnum Shot Close Range => Revolver Close Range => Normal Close Range Shot Revolver Close Range => Normal Close Range => Repeat Normal Shots Defense can be used at any time if your Stun Gunning fails, I suggest switching to a different combo immediately after failure That's the basics of Human Ranged Combat!
Elf Ranged Combat Using Ranged with your Elf :D Additional Elf Skills are Mirage Missle (Not the Real Skill Image xD) Mirage Missle is an Elf Only skill MM fires a single shot imbued with poison This Shot is a Splash Or AOE (Area of Effect) Effecting all enemies in range This poison effect lasts for some time, causing massive damage It will only add aggression to the monster you hit. Fun Fact! MM can be used to kill botters! Just shoot the mobs around the bot, they won't heal it off. Elves unlike humans can fire two shots every shot, lag can sometimes cause you to fire one, sadly this also means Elves are UNABLE to use Revolver. But they are overall faster with Ranged Weaponry than humans. Elven Combos Normal Shot 99% => Repeat Normal Shot 50% => Repeat (Without a high rank, this will miss, a lot.) Make sure you always Autoload your shots, Click to load, Doubleclick to Autoload next shot. Magnum Shot => Normal Shot => Normal Shot Unlike Other Races, Elves have the ability to Hide, becoming 100% invisible to anyone not in their party. Hidden Sting Combo Mirage Missle => Hide => Magnum Shot => Normal Shot Elves in higher numbers is a powerhouse when all elves are well trained, together elves can humiliate opponents with insane knockback from rapid fire. Hidden Sting Team Combo (Note: Color Represents Multiple Users) Mirage Missle => Normal Shot => Normal Shot Support Shot => Normal Shot => Normal Shot Try to stay in Rhythm with your teammates Stun Gunning (Elves Specialty IMO) Close Range Magnum => Close Range Normal => Repeat Normal Shots Team Stun Gunning C.Magnum => C.Normal Shot => Repeat C.Normal C.Support Shot => C.Normal Shot => Repeat C. Normal Stun Gunning Is Like Being an Elf Brawler, you're point blank firing on enemies stuns them enough to where they cannot fight back, doing so with a partner is overkill, and very fun. Note: Most Human Combos work with Elves as well, All Green Human Combos work with elves as well.
Combat System:
Although "Mabinogi-Fantasy Life" fights is not the only game way, but is also one of indispensable systems. And has the wrestle game's ingredient obviously in the fight. If you also want only hardly to hit through the crazy spot mouse, that certainly will die very much miserably. In "Mabinogi-Fantasy Life", but also has “the double hit” hypothesis, moreover the different weapon double hit number is also different. When you use 3 double hit overthrows the monster when the place, you have many tactics to be possible to choose: First, rushes waits for it to set out when carries on fiercely attacks, with the aim of overturning once more it in the place; Second, enters “Defense” the condition, when after waiting it sets out, to attack you, after defending him the attack, can let it enter the hard straight condition, thus you launch attacks once more; Third, use “Smash” skill, if monster use defense, then you may break against and give it two time of injuries; Fourth, use “counter-attack” skill, if it attacks you, may add on opposite party half striking power own complete striking power to give back the monster.when you are overthrown by the monster, you may also have these four kind of choices, may use sets out the time “Mind” the condition to carry on the attack, but also after may keep a spot defends first, looks at the situation again, if might see the monster to use the defense that use to hit hard, perhaps waited for gains without pains with the counter-attack? has been natural, you can also use the arrow or the black magic carry on the long-distance attack. However what said now is time close combat's wrestle, attack, defense, smash and counter-attacks these four essential tactics, probably the scissors stone headwrap such has the antagonism, defends goes against the attack, to hit hard the broken defense, the attack gram to hit hard, although counter-attack in close combat time invincible, but may not move in the use process, moreover the physical strength value has reduced to zero, will therefore not suit the long duration battle. therefore, the fight no longer is only the rank and the equipment question, the tactic and the luck is also a key.
~Beginner Tips~
There's alot of confusion when new players start out in Mabinogi. I'll try to clear up some base problems, and give new players something to get on their feet. (I took some parts out of my other writings to create this one) I'm in no way an advanced Mabi player, however I'd like to do what I can, and also share my experiences.
Take good care of your gear! The first thing new players often miscalculate when it comes to buying weapons is that the most expensive weapon makes them "more powerful". The weapons in mabinogi are merely an extension of ones own self. Someone with a short sword can fight ten times better than someone with a claymore if they are more skilled. This is a good thing to remember when buying weapons. If you know at heart that you aren't experienced enough to wield an expensive weapon properly, then it may be a mistake to buy the most expensive weapons in the store. Why would this be a bad idea? Because, if you fail to wield your weapon properly and die alot, then your repair/retrieval bill is going to be too high for you to pay for. Thus, Mabinogi is very good at thinning out the best swordsmen. Personally, I always have two swords. One with high durability and decent damage. This is usually a broadsword. I repair it at the noobsmith(Fergus) Because it's cheap. True, he does fail ALOT. But I guess you could call this my training sword. I don't focus on upgrading it, and I use it in easy areas where I can make decent cash. Also it's a great sword to use when training my combat techniques on monsters. This sword is disposable, and often gets replaced alot. My second sword is my main weapon. One that I spend alot of money on to keep in decent shape. Currently this is my bast sword. It still has 10/10 durability, and 4 balance upgrades (So it has +20 balance). This sword costs alot to maintain (Over 8k for a full repair). However, it is strong and gets the job done in serious situations. I won't use this sword unless i'm confident that I have the training to take on the monster i'm fighting, or if it's an emergency situation. I always repair this sword at the best smith, and I pay top dollar to have it kept in mint condition. All in all, taking care of your weapons is an important thing in Mabinogi, and it can save you so much money if you're careful. This actually rings very true for armor as well. Take good care of your gear, use what YOU know you can use properly, and always keep your main sets blessed. Manage your repair prices economically.You see alot of people wearing full armor sets and wielding around a shiny 2 hander. That's all well and cool now, but that setup has the highest upkeep cost possible. Imagine the repair bills -shudders-. I use a warhammer, a shield, some light armor, and a headband. Repair bills are around 4k for my hammer, the armor needs repaired rarely, and even when it does need repaired, it's a fairly cheap deal (Less than 5k). Also I don't need to worry too much about dropping these items because really the shield and leathers will be most costly, and even that's not too much of a sting for me making an accident in combat. Fight economically wise, until you have a decent horde of gold to repair your awesome armors. Cool looking now, but later on it's just a piece of metal with alot of holes in it if you can't maintain it. Mobs are too strong, I lose my armor, and repair costs are insane! Well, the most simple explanation to this is that you need to learn the tactics of the enemies you are engaging. Running out and attacking the nearest enemies with your best gear is a surefire way to lose everything you have. Combat in Mabi takes time to learn. Find a mob you want to train against, grab your training sword, and take the fight to the enemy. I've seen people around level 10 fight and solo Rabbie. Truly the word "Level" will become obsolete once players realize that level means very little in this game. Honestly, the starting sword is an amazing weapon, and I still wish I had mine. Make good use of it while you have it. If you die and get in the negatives, it's not that bad of a thing. Once you're a higher level, it's much harder to train. Learn how to fight while still new. The negatives aren't too tough to make up for, and you'll thank yourself later for it. If combat is too hard, find a mentor. The combat system can be very overwhelming.for alot of players in Mabinogi, Try to use guides people have already made on combat techniques. If you're carrying a two handed sword, and don't know what N+ is, then you have no idea what you're missing out on. Dungeons are very linear, and each type of room/monster requires a specific tactic to defeat. If premade videos don't help much, ask a more advanced player to help teach you. I myself would be glad to teach you new people combat lessons in Rabbie, and show you how to do N+ properly. Just message me. ^_^ Carry a decent stock of supplies! One of the worst thing to happen to me in a dungeon run is running out of supplies. No more red pots, bandages, phoenix feathers, or a shattered weapon can completely ruin your trip. Make sure your friends stock up also. You get better benefits from healing each other, rather than just yourself. Stock up often on supplies to the extent of what you know will be adequate for you. Preperation is key, and holds true in many things. Also if you're a mainly a warrior and never use any MP, why not toss 2 AP in to getting rank f healing? I guess it's a matter of personal preference... but your friends will love you for it, and it really cuts back on potion costs. Establish connections! Social power among fellow Mabinogi players is a great thing to have. Grabbing a partner when going out in the wilderness is an invaluable thing. You can take turns fighting enemies and resseruct each other if one falls. In dungeons, it's the same way, except each player takes their own mobs one by one. Larger partys are actually more dangerous. People can jump in on your fight, mess up your combat pattern, and even kill both of you. It's quite frustrating. Party with groups that know what they're doing. This makes guild members and close friends priceless things. Fight tactically as a team, and no monster is too mighty. I love you Sera! Thanks, I love me too ^_^ Questies! Questies are the foundation of a new players AP base. Doing the starting questies will net you a decent ammount of AP, and a nice experience kick to boot. Collecting 10 Fomor scrolls are great things as well. You can make alot of money off of them over time, especially if you collect all your mimic scrolls (6K per 10 mimic fomors). The group fomor scrolls are great also. Basically you're just killing a certain mob over time and getting paid for it. It gives less money than collection scrolls because you're with others, but really you don't notice it and it's just an extra little kick for a wallet boost. Have fun! What more can I say? Grab a ragtag group, play music, bake COOKIES!!, lounge about like a lazy oafe (guilty), or just do whatever gives you the most satisfaction in your fantasy life. Other people have written in depth guides on skills, combat, etc. And these guys are awesome for doing so. I recommend browsing about and reading a few. They helped me alot when I first started, and you can always message me if you have a question or two. I'm not too experienced yet, but I'll always lend what little advice I can provide. ^_^ Stay safe friends ^_~ ~Sera
Dungeons:
"Mabinogi" the world open country distributes the massive monsters to be possible to supply to play the family to practice the level, but the long time hits the identical monster is a very bored matter, will have in the empirical value penalty, will punish the fiercest time can only obtain half empirical value, sometimes to doubt also has the possibility and other plays the family to have the contradiction.if you went to dungeons in Mabinogi, the above question might solve. The dungeon is a labyrinth, moreover is the stochastic production labyrinth, after entering, not only the map is different, the monster which and the treasure appears is also different. Moreover in the dungeon fight do not have in the empirical value penalty, players are able to obtain the experience by 100% efficiencies. Has a sacrificial altar in every dungeons entrance, players have to stand in above, and throws any goods then to enter the dungeon, throws the goods according to you to be different, the underground city which produces is also different. Each goods correspond a labyrinth, if has two to players throw the same goods, they will arrive at the same place. Therefore if player wants to train alone, don't throws common used goods. To satisfy everybody's curiosity, now came to the simply structure of a dungeon. Dungeon besides corridor, but also has four kind of rooms: Between the valuable closet, the institution room, open room and the key room. Between valuable closet: Has a valuable box in the room center, when you happy runs opens, inside will drill many monsters to come, simultaneously each can close, only then after eliminating the complete monsters, can exit. Institution room: The room have the four bead institution on the corner of room, only then one correct institution which is opens the door, bumps touches other any to be able to present the monster. Open room: Although the gate is opening room, but has the monster to guard. Finally is the key room: When elimination monster, has the possibility to attain the related key, opens after the same color's key the gate can continue to go forward. Finally may go downstairs perhaps enter BOSS room.
Guide on Dungeons
In Mabinogi there are several dungeons. Each dungeon has its unique boss monster. A dungeon can be accessed by dropping an item on the Alter of Goddess. A common item will bring you to a normal level dungeon. A Beginner pass will bring you to a beginner dungeon and a Basic Formor pass will bring you to the hardest level of the dungeon. If a common item is dropped you have a chance of entering someone elses dungeon if they have dropped the same number of that item as well. You can see if someone has already made the dungeon by either a notice popping up or by reading the marquee on the top of the screen. Remember and be respectful and leave peacefully if someone else has created that dungeon instead of stealing their hardwork and treasure.
Statue of Goddess
Once you are in the dungeon you can click on the Statue of Goddess to act as a save location just in case you die in the dungeon. You can respawn at the statue as many times with certain penalties depending on your level.
Rooms
The dungeon is made up of multiple rooms and floors. If a room has a locked door a key is needed to proceed further on to the dungeon. Monsters or chests will give these keys. A key would take up 2 spaces of your inventory. For example, if a room has a chest in it and you open it, monsters may appear. You must then vanquish these monsters for a key. Some rooms may have 4 orbs which you must hit to open the door. Each wrong switch you hit will spawn a few monsters. You can either attack these monsters or go for another switch and quickly hurry out of the room.
Hallways
You may encounter monsters or chest (or Mimics) in the hallways. Some of these chests may contain keys for use on upcoming doors.
Boss Door
When opening a boss door a Boss Key is needed. These are obtained by slaying monsters in previous rooms. A Boss Key would take up 4 slots in your inventory. Once you are in the room a cutscene will appear. You can skip this cutscene by holding down "Enter" then clicking OK. Once you have killed the boss you obtain a key for a treasure chest. The treasure chest is located on the opposite in which you entered the Boss Room. Once you have opened your treasure you can talk to the Statue of Goddess to get out of the dungeon.
Party!
Remember to bring a party as some dungeons will be difficult to beat on your own. But remember that certain bosses only spawn when you solo a dungeon, such as the Black Succubus.
Have Fun and Enjoy!

~~GENERAL QUESTS~~
This guide is a quick read, it will tell you about everything you need to know for General Quests and such, basically, we get to the point fast.
~Index~
1. Where do I get them?
2. Why are they important?
3. Where do I go to complete them?
4. What are the rewards?
~~~~~~
General quests are found in many many places, but the most common place is from the towns "Chief," like in Tir chonail, you go to Duncan and he will give you a bunch of quests, like hunting quests and party quests. All you need to do is spend a little bit of cash and he will give you a scroll containing your quest. The hunting quests usually require you get 10 Fomor scrolls, a common drop from monsters. You can also get quests from people in Dunbarton, Bangor, and even leveling or beating an old quest as well.(More places will open soon!)
General quests can be very important, a lot of times they can be a main source of income,(For the younger players out there, that's money.) If your on a party quest with some of your friends or maybe your in a dungeon, either way, you might work on a party quest, which could mean hunt a certain monster or something. The cool thing about party quests is, not only do they give out cash, not as much, but still cash, they also give out EXP as well.
3. Where do I complete them?
You can complete a quest in just about anywhere really, the island is jam packed with monsters everywhere, all you have to do is grab a scroll from the towns chief and go hunt some monsters. Once you have all the Fomor scrolls, all you have to do is goto your quest menu, (The Hotkey is "Q".) and press Complete, then an owl will fly over and give you your reward.
The rewards are usually money, if you are doing a party quest, then money and Exp, and sometimes you can get items for them too!
~Dungeons~
Now Mabinogi isn’t you regular MMORPG, which means the dungeons won’t be like any others. For now, I’ll explain the first dungeon all starters start out with-Alby Dungeon. This dungeon is located north of the Square. You’ll know you’re going the right way when you see lots and lots of foxies :D. Pass Trefor the armored NPC and go right up the hill. Anyone who hasn’t done the Beginner Quest for this dungeon or is under level 10 should ask Trefor for a Beginner Pass. Later, you might need a party to help defeat the boss depending on how you set up your skills. (AKA less on fighting and more on life skills will need help) Other than Alby, there is Ciar, Rabbie, Math, Fioreh, and many more to come!
{How to enter Dungeon}
Each dungeon in Mabinogi has an altar. These altars act as transporters to the inner parts of the dungeon. Dropping an item will activate it and the dungeon’s layout changes with different items dropped and on Thursdays. To avoid already cleared dungeons, try dropping uncommon items. (just not items you might need/are rare!) You can also drop an Alby Beginner Pass from Trefor, who’s nearby. Also, make sure to make a party if you wish to enter a dungeon with someone! The party leader is the only one who can drop an item and it’ll take everyone in the party who is on the altar.
{Items/Objects}
As you go down the stairs after creating a map, you’ll see a statue of what looks like an angel. That’s a Goddess Statue. Clicking on it will allow you to memorize it (AKA if you die, you can have the choice of respawning at the nearest statue) and there is one every time you go downstairs (number of stairs depend on dungeon. E.x. Alby dungeon-1, Ciar-2, etc.) There are chests in these dungeons and if opened, spawn monsters. You are required to kill them all and retrieve the key that one will drop so you can open the lock doors. Sometimes you’ll see 4 orbs in each corner of a room with a lock door of the same color as the orbs. You must hit a orb and it will have a ¼ chance of opening the door. (that, or you spawn monsters and gotta kill before hitting the next one)
{Boss time!!!}
After going through this dungeon and having the boss key, you can fight the Alby Dungeon boss-a Giant Spider! Wait, this one has friends. With it are a few Red Spiders and they can pack a punch if you’re not careful! Every time you or someone opens a boss door, a cutscene shows up. (Some are funny like the Ciar one with Golem LOL) You can skip by holding ‘Enter’ or press Esc then press the OK button. You may be strong, but remember-monsters have skills too! Here are your options-
1) If the monster walks slowly, it’s in defense. Use your Smash skill to break through it!
2) If the monster doesn’t move, it’s in counterattack. Either use Magic which you can get from lessons at school for 4k per 3 lessons or wait a while, then counter yourself or attack the spider!!!
3) If it charges towards you, it’s gonna smash you! Just hit it with a regular attack or counterattack! Show that spider who’s boss!
4) Make sure you get rid of the red spiders before dealing with this boss or they might get aggressive and attack you. It’s best if you attack one at a time unless you have windmill (which you can get from Ranald at the School) and high combat mastery. (not to mention critical hit)
Once you defeat the boss, you automatically get a key. The door that was locked at the other side of the boss room will open and a Goddess Statue will be there. Somewhere in that room is a chest. Click on the chest (make sure you have your key! You’ll drop it if you got killed) and you’ll get items. Once you’re ready, click on the statue to leave and reappear at the altar.
Whew, that took awhile, didn’t it? Also, if you need more help, post on the forums. Yes, you could ask peoples online, but some of them might not like newbies bothering them (there are nice people too!) Also, it’s better to party with a friend than trying to solo dungeons. And the #1 rule for dungeons-ALWAYS be prepared with HP pots! Don’t come crying to me if you die >=O! Now if you excuse me, I need to get some cookies! :3 Mero~~~~<3
