It's a requirement, not a limiting obstacle meant to put others down.

Strip clubs have age limits. You're not allowed in if you're under 18, majority of them. 

Why is this? Because the environment is inappropriate for the ages and maturity of those under that restriction.

Strips clubs DO have age limits, but if you can get in and you don;t get what you came in there for becouse of your age (lets say 70 and age has done a number on you) then that could be discrimination

for the record this is going by the Californian drinking age 

This is just like walking into a bar as a 21 year old, but yet you need to be 23 in order to get a beer, because a 21 year old drank a beer and made the bar owner realize that 21 year old's can not handle beer, even though the age limit for beer is 21.

And yes Selfpride, anyone is able to age and be 15+ but just the same age can not determine maturity which is why my interpretation see's it as discrimination.

In the california bar example, the owners of the bar can refuse to serve anyone under the age of 23 because it is a private club.  However, most bar owners realize that they will make more money by serving as broad a client base as possible.  In the case of a guild, it is also a private club and the leader can operate it however he or she chooses.  Personally, I feel that my guild is best served by allowing older kids and adults to join and restricting access to the youngest players of the game.

Additionally, despite misconceptions, there are only a few specific statuses that are protected by US antidiscrimination laws, and those are the ones I mentioned near the beginning of this thread.  Age is not recognized as a protected status, except in the case of the elderly.  Look at US law and you'll quickly find that minors (those under the age of 18) don't have any legal rights anyway.  (Except basic human rights)

And, since I'm already posting and it's been brought up before, let me address the claims that I'm "sexist."  (So I guess this is directed at SSAlissa, who made the claim)  I'm not sexist.  I didn't say that males couldn't apply to the guild, I just said that we're specifically inviting females because we don't have many and we want to have a more balanced player base.  This is more akin to affirmative action than sexism.  I'm not denying access to either gender.  That would be silly.  (It should be noted, however, that I did specifically deny access to SSAlissa, who was rude.  But I denied her membership based on rudeness, not her gender.)
