Client.exe is the game, so if you stop it while you're playing then yes, the game will end.

Anyway, my client won't start either, just went to try this game out.. vista ultimate x64. Same problem.

Perhaps HackShield's attempting to update and can't because of a server outage?

 Go to your C:// drive look for mabinogi and go to "HShield" folder then look for "HSUpdate" rigt click it and open properties and go to the cabatabiliy tab and run it in XP SP2  then acsept it and go to the "Update" folder and look for "autoup" and do the same thing and there you go.

 

 

This worked for me. autoup.exe and HSUpdate.exe set to compatibility mode for XP SP2, plus disabled visual themes and desktop composition (because I use multiple monitors, just in case.)

But to be honest it's much faster to type "C:\Nexon\" in your internet Explorer address bar, click once on the Mabinogi and then hold the shift key as you press the delete button. That will accomplish all of above. It will ask if you want to do it.  If you screw up, not my fault.

Alright so I've read through every single reply in this thread and nothing is working for me.  I've tried ending processes, restarting my computer, removing HShield from the Mabinogi directory altogether and putting it back.  I haven't re-installed Mabinogi or reformatted my hard drive or anything because I played Mabinogi less than a day ago and it worked fine.

 

To everyone who is going to say something along the lines of "Stop using Vista," I don't have Vista, I am a Windows XP user.  So congratz to everyone who has XP that says theirs is working fine, but I have XP and mine is still not working.

 

However, I did notice one difference in people's advice that I couldn't follow.
