Greetings from Lady Arad of the Arad High Council
    Locked - Other

    Greetings Dungeon Fighters,

This is Lady Arad of the Arad High Council and I want to say thank you for making Dungeon Fighter Online such a big success! We’re truly humbled by how well DFO has been received thus far, and we wouldn’t be here without your enthusiasm and continued support. As a member of the production team for Dungeon Fighter Online, I’d like to take this opportunity to answer some recent forum questions regarding the game’s features, its design and its future direction. We’re very much hoping to make this a regular feature on our forums, so come back often!

Level Cap, Experience Curve, and Game Content

Oneof the big issues on the forums is the difference in experience curve between DFO and other versions of the game. The experience curve for DFO is indeed higher than the Korean or Japanese version. That being said, we are in a continual process of finding the right experience curve for DFO. And as we add more content, the leveling will be adjusted accordingly.

    Server Stability and Latency

Some of you have experienced lag while in Dungeons and Arenas, or had to try multiple times to even connect to the Arena Channel. We know that this is extremely frustrating. Let me start by explaining why this is happening.

Dungeon Fighter Online’s online components are designed to work on a Peer-to-Peer network. What we are trying to do is craft a Peer-to-Peer solution that will minimize lag AND allow everyone to play together. As you may have noticed, server channels are designated as either West or East. Players in western regions such as California or Vancouver BC are encouraged to play on Westchannels. Likewise, players connecting from the east coast should play on East channels. We also introduced a connection stability meter that allows players to see with whom they have the strongest Peer-to-Peer connections, and therefore allow them to build their Party and Arena games more efficiently.

These are only the first steps of many as we try to confront this issue. Among other options on the table is diversifying our sever network geographically, with physical servers placed at various points throughout the US and Canada. We are working fervently toward a resolution. More updates will be forthcoming.

    Hit Rates

Thehit rate in DFO is no different from other versions.

    Hackers and Spammers

Hackersand spammers are not taken lightly! We understand how bothersome they can be, as they impede players from forming and finding parties, buying and selling items, and more. We are upgrading our security system, and bringing in more resources;we are currently testing a solution that will be implemented in-game shortly. We also know players would like the ability to ignore spammers. We’re actively working on implementing that for DFO.

    More Coming Soon!

We’re already working on future content for DFO. Guild system, Entourage (Mentorship) system, and additional character classes are coming your way! When we are closer to releasing these features, we’ll definitely share more details. Withrespect to the immediate future, we are hosting a Halloween event, so watch for that in game and on our website.

I hope we answered a few of your questions. As the life of Dungeon Fighter Online depends on you, the community, please continue to provide your valuable feedback via the forums. Even if we can’t always answer, we’re definitely listening. Again, thank you for all of your support during this monumental time! Fight on, Brave Warriors!

I think this is the biggest issue for myself and several of my friends at the moment. We all have great computers and very good connections but three of 7 cannot play with each other even though we are living in the same city in California. Most of my friends have given up and gone back to another game. I wouldnt mind the fatigue system and exp curve quite as much if I wasnt wasting fatigue points trying to level every few dungeon runs with random strangers because of desyncs.

Arad would be jealous of that I'd think.

Thanks, useful info here for those that are able to keep it in perspective that Nexon can't necessarily be omniscient on timing, but it's great to hear about work in progress and that efforts are being taken to resolve some issues, particularly on the possibility of static servers and a forthcoming ignore feature. While I'm aware continual day by day updates are not very effective time wise, I recommend that it'd please the community greatly if you or another Nexon member might be able to check up on this thread for a little in order to address any potential clarifications. Doesn't have to be continual, just if there's any immediate (and sensible) questions.

    Again, thanks, very appreciated!

Well its honest and straightforward feedback, good to know they're showing some effort and observation.

Though yes, I agree with maxtater that there needs to be a consistent involvement with at least one mod constantly watching, possibly more staff as well. Not every waking hour but at least say, a handful of posts collectively a day.

Otherwise, the community will be unruly regardless.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Just this communication will stem the tide of complaints for a while. Of course, if a November comes and goes without any changes you can expect the grumbling to begin again...but for now you've made a lot of us VERY happy.

Keep up the good work, the good communication, and lower the price of sp reset. Wink

It's great that we're finally getting some feedback from Nexon.

Hopefully the devs will keep in closer contact with the forums regarding the various issues.  Our biggest concern was being left in the dark regarding future updates, changes to the system and cash shop and other things.

This is fantastic news! Thank you for finally taking the time to let us know what's going on, I hope this starts a new trend in how nexon does things :D

I can guarantee that the community (including myself) will be much more positive to any changes made in the game so long as you don't keep us (the players) in the dark.

    Keep it up!

What about the problems with connecting with other player in the same LAN?

This is just as unsatisfying a post as "Alternate Dungeon Fighter Online Versions."  This one just happens to be less condescending and more of a reiteration of what we already knew.  Seriously, what exactly in this post is new information?  Nothing.  I'm not even convinced it's a step in the right direction communication-wise considering it's one of the only posts of this nature.  If we see more like this I'll concede the point.  'Til then, not impressed.

I suppose they've at least acknowledged our concerns.  I'm going to wait and see if they post more, or actually make some changes.  Until then... Well, Killing Floor is having a free weekend and I plan to enjoy that.

Well for one thing she (he?) has let us know that there is no difference in miss rates for the different versions (which just goes to show that people are soloing dungeons that are way too difficult because of the current grind), as well as letting us know that they were actually working on things like new servers, balancing gameplay, and stuff like spam-blocking updates.

While I agree that it's too soon to take this post in itself seriously, I think that nexon is making some good progress on the front of keeping the players in mind as evident with NXneuron's hiring, tibaroo and hime's increased involvement with the community, and this thread (oh and getting rid of that useless facebook sticky).

Don't troll when we actually get some good news.

Well on the back of my head, I actually think this is some Deathnote/MONSTER/House/Heroes/insertpopulardramahere-worthy gambit where they'll look completely redeemed when this long suffering ends. So they can satisfy the more hardcore audience while taking money from the casuals who would quit anyway at the same time.

Though I'm not the one to take my own conspiracy theories seriously in real life situations.

i see this as no helpful to anything whatsoever, more politically correct=less supporters. until then, everyone will flock to arad senki or dnf, or quit the dfo entirely.
